Chapter 236 235: Don’t order!
Ling Xiao stood at the edge of the town, gazing at the distant mountains. This was the border town of Wind Whisper, a forgotten place where the residents lived a peaceful and monotonous life.

However, Ling Xiao's heart has never been at peace. He longs for adventure and exploring the unknown world, and this peaceful town seems to never be able to satisfy his curiosity.

"Ling Xiao, are you daydreaming again?" Jack's voice came from behind. Jack was Ling Xiao's childhood friend and the only person in town who understood Ling Xiao's dream of adventure.

Ling Xiao turned around and smiled: "I was just wondering what the world behind these mountains is like."

Jack sighed and patted Ling Xiao on the shoulder: "You are always like this, full of curiosity about the unknown world. But don't forget, the world outside is very dangerous." "I know, but I can't live like this for the rest of my life."

Ling Xiao gazed into the distance, his eyes gleaming with determination. "I long for adventure, to prove myself." Just then, the sky suddenly darkened, and dark clouds, like a black curtain, quickly enveloped the entire sky. A strange wind blew from the mountains, bringing a suffocating chill.

Then, like a tide, the fog surged from the mountains, quickly filling the entire town. "What is this?" Jack asked in horror, his voice trembling. The townspeople rushed out of their houses, watching the fog descend in panic.

A low roar echoed from the mist, as if hiding endless danger. "This mist..." Ling Xiao frowned, but an inexplicable excitement rose in his heart. "This might be the beginning of an adventure."

"Ling Xiao, don't be impulsive!" Jack tried to stop him, "We have to hide quickly!" But Ling Xiao had made up his mind.

He picked up the sword hanging on the wall, put on a simple bag, and said to Jack, "I will be back, Jack. Take care of yourself." After that, he stepped into the fog without hesitation.

Everything in the mist seemed strange and eerie. Ling Xiao felt as if he were in another world. The sky was gray, and the earth was shrouded in a thin layer of mist, as if hiding endless dangers.

There was a suffocating atmosphere in the air, which made Ling Xiao's heart full of vigilance.

"Where is this place?" Ling Xiao whispered to himself, his hand tightly gripping the hilt of the sword.

He walked forward cautiously, every step being extremely careful. Suddenly, a low roar came from not far away, with a chilling chill in the voice.

"There are monsters!"

Ling Xiao quickly drew his sword and looked around warily. A giant wolf emerged from the mist, its eyes gleaming with a faint green light, its body shrouded in a strange fluorescent glow.

It was much larger than an ordinary wolf, resembling a demon from hell. "This is a Phantom Wolf," Ling Xiao thought, startled. He had read about this monster in the town library. It was known for its speed and strength, and was a predator in the fog.

The Ghost Wolf roared and lunged at Ling Xiao. Ling Xiao swiftly swung his sword to block, the blade colliding with the wolf's claws with a resounding sound. He used the momentum to retreat, creating distance between them. "I can't fight head-on!" Ling Xiao thought to himself. He noticed a glint in the wolf's eyes, as if that was its weakness.

He quickly adjusted his breathing and focused his attention. When the Phantom Wolf lunged again, Ling Xiao swung his sword in an arc, the blade pointing directly at the wolf's eyes. The wolf let out a scream and retreated backward. Ling Xiao seized the opportunity to attack, piercing the wolf's body with his sword and knocking it to the ground.

"Hoo..." Ling Xiao panted. Though his body was exhausted, his heart was filled with the joy of victory. He walked over to the wolf's corpse and found a gleaming crystal on its paw. He removed the crystal, and it contained a warm power, as if it were the source of the wolf's strength.

"This is my first reward," Ling Xiao whispered, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. He placed the crystal in his bag and continued on through the mist. He didn't know what awaited him, but he knew that this mist held more secrets, and he must continue exploring.

Ling Xiao continued to walk through the fog, his steps growing heavier, but his faith remained unwavering. Everything in the fog seemed strange and eerie. He had no idea how long he had been walking, or where he was.

Just then, he heard the sound of soft footsteps. He quickly hid behind a large tree, looking around cautiously. A figure emerged from the mist. It was a woman, dressed in a black robe and a silver mask.

"Who are you?" Ling Xiao stepped out from behind the tree, his sword pointed at the woman. The woman raised her head, her eyes gleaming beneath her mask. "I am Arya, Keeper of the Mists."

"The Guardian of the Mist?" Ling Xiao asked with a frown. "Yes, I've been looking for someone who can unlock the secrets of the Mist." Arya's voice was calm and mysterious. "Then I can help you."

Ling Xiao put away his sword and said, "But I need to know more." Arya nodded: "There is an ancient secret hidden in the mist. Only by finding the core of the mist can we unravel its truth."

"Where is the core of the Mist?" Ling Xiao asked. "Deep within the Mist lies an ancient ruin that holds the secrets of the Mist," Arya replied. "Okay, let's find it together," Ling Xiao said, his heart filled with a new goal.

Ling Xiao and Arya went deep into the fog together. They passed through strange forests and crossed dark rivers, and every step was full of danger.

Along the way, they encountered various monsters, some of which looked like giant spiders and some like fire-breathing lizards.

But Ling Xiao defeated them one by one with his courage and wisdom. "You are really brave," Arya said with a hint of admiration in her tone.

"I just want to find the truth about the fog." Ling Xiao replied, his eyes firm.

Finally, they arrived at an ancient ruin. The entrance to the ruins was sealed by a huge stone door, which was engraved with strange runes.

"This is the heart of the Mists," Arya said, a hint of nervousness in her voice.

"Let's go in." Ling Xiao stepped forward and touched the runes on the stone door with the crystal in his hand. Suddenly, the runes began to flicker, and the stone door slowly opened.

A powerful energy surged out of the ruins, enveloping Ling Xiao and Arya. They felt a strong sense of oppression, as if they would be swallowed by this power at any moment.

"Be careful!" Arya yelled, quickly drawing a silver dagger and blocking Ling Xiao. A massive guardian emerged from the ruins, its body as hard as rock, its eyes glowing red.

It roared with a deafening roar, shaking the entire ruins. "This is the Keeper of the Mists," Arya whispered, a tremor in her voice. "We can only fight."

Ling Xiao spoke, his eyes gleaming with determination. He swung his sword at the Guardian, the blade slicing with silver light. The Guardian swung his massive arms, attempting to knock Ling Xiao away.

Ling Xiao nimbly dodged the attacks while searching for the Guardian's weak spot. "Its chest!" Arya shouted. Ling Xiao quickly adjusted the direction of his attack, aiming his sword directly at the Guardian's chest.

The Guardian roared in pain and retreated slightly. Ling Xiao seized the opportunity to attack, piercing the Guardian's heart with his sword and knocking him to the ground.

"We won!" Ling Xiao panted. Although his body was exhausted, his heart was filled with the joy of victory. After the guardian fell, a warm light emanated from the ruins.

Amidst the light, a massive crystal slowly rose, emitting a dazzling brilliance. "This is the core of the Mist," Arya whispered, a hint of awe in her voice. Ling Xiao stepped forward and removed the crystal.

The crystal contained a powerful force, seemingly able to dispel all darkness. "This is the secret of the fog," Ling Xiao whispered, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

Ling Xiao and Arya stood in the center of the ruins, holding the crystal that radiated a warm glow—the core of the mist. The entire ruins appeared solemn and mysterious under the crystal's light. Ancient runes shimmered on the walls, as if telling a thousand-year-old secret.

"Is this the core of the mist?" Ling Xiao asked in a low voice, his eyes filled with awe. Arya nodded: "Yes, this crystal contains great power.

It can not only dispel the fog, but also reveal the truth behind the fog." "Then what should we do?" Ling Xiao asked, his heart filled with anticipation and nervousness.

"We need to find the source of the mist," Arya replied. "This crystal will guide us." She held the crystal high, and the light of the crystal suddenly became dazzling, as if illuminating the entire ruins.

Amidst the light, a phantom image slowly emerged—an ancient temple shrouded in darkness, hidden deep within the fog. "What is that place?" Ling Xiao asked. "That's the source of the fog—the Dark Temple."

There was a hint of solemnity in Arya's voice, "That's the starting point of the fog and the key to unlocking all secrets." "Okay, then let's go there." Ling Xiao said firmly, with determination flashing in his eyes.

Ling Xiao and Arya embarked on a journey to the Black Temple. They passed through the misty forest and crossed the dark river, and every step was full of unknowns and dangers.

The fog seemed to grow thicker, and the surroundings grew more eerie. "This fog seems to be preventing us from moving forward," Ling Xiao whispered, a hint of worry in his voice. "Indeed," Arya nodded. "There is a powerful force within the fog resisting us.

But we must persevere. They journeyed through the mist for days, encountering various monsters and traps along the way. At one point, they were nearly surrounded by a pack of Dusk Wolves, but Arya used magic in time to repel them.

Another time, they fell into a huge swamp, and Ling Xiao used his agility to pull them out. "We're almost there."

Arya pointed ahead, her voice a little tired, but her eyes remained determined. Deep in the mist, an ancient temple loomed.

The temple's architectural style is ancient and mysterious. The huge stone pillars are engraved with strange runes. The entire temple is shrouded in a layer of dark power, as if it is the source of the fog.

"That's the Dark Temple." Ling Xiao said in a low voice, his heart filled with tension.

"Let's go in," Arya said, her voice thick with determination.

They walked into the Dark Temple cautiously. The interior of the temple was dim and silent, and the air was filled with a suffocating atmosphere.

A dim light flickered on the walls, as if hiding endless secrets.

"What is this place?" Ling Xiao asked in a low voice, his hand tightly gripping the hilt of his sword. "This is the source of the Mist," Arya replied, "and the gathering place of evil forces."

They walked along the temple's corridor, at the end of which was a huge altar, engraved with ancient runes that exuded a powerful dark power.

In the center of the altar, there was a huge crystal ball. The crystal ball was filled with mist, as if it was the source of the fog. "That is the source of the fog." Arya whispered, with a hint of tension in her voice.

"What should we do?" Ling Xiao asked. "We need to use the core of the mist to dispel this dark force." Arya replied, "But this process may be dangerous."

"I'm ready," Ling Xiao said firmly. Arya nodded and placed the Mist Core on the altar. The crystal ball and the Mist Core instantly glowed brightly, and within that light, a powerful energy erupted within the temple.

"Be careful!" Arya yelled, quickly pulling Ling Xiao aside. The entire temple began to shake violently, and the runes on the walls flickered, as if resisting some force.

The light between the core of the fog and the crystal ball became brighter and brighter, and finally converged into a huge pillar of light, shooting straight into the sky.

"What is this?" Ling Xiao asked in a low voice, a hint of shock in his voice. "This is the truth of the Mist," Arya whispered, a hint of awe in her voice. Under the illumination of the beam of light, ancient murals emerged on the walls of the temple.

The mural depicts an ancient era in which a powerful dark force attempts to devour the entire world, and a hero holding a crystal of light fights a desperate battle with the dark force.

"I see..." Ling Xiao whispered, his eyes flickering with shock. "The Mist is the remnant of the dark forces," Arya explained. "It's trying to prevent us from finding the truth."

"Then what should we do?" Ling Xiao asked. "We need to completely destroy this dark force," Arya replied. "Only then will the fog truly dissipate."
