Madmen don't keep diaries

Chapter 265, Section 264: Accompanying Guests for Drinks

Chapter 265, Section 264: Accompanying Guests for Drinks
Feng Xiuhu listened intently.

The person was scolded, but instead of being angry, they humbly asked, "What kind of person must they be to be so unworthy of my attention? No matter how well they sing or how pretty they are, aren't they just a singer who entertains people?"

These words, spoken without restraint, immediately provoked even more displeasure, drawing angry glares from the crowd.

"How do you talk?"

"What an oblivious person!"

"You dare to speak ill of Miss Liu like this? You're asking for death!"

Seeing that he had angered the crowd, the man quickly softened his tone and begged for mercy: "I'm new here and don't know the rules of Fancheng. I'll cover everyone's drinks tonight, but please tell me—who exactly is Liu Ying'er?"

The crowd calmed down, and someone at the next table snorted, "Since you're sensible, I'll explain it to you clearly."

"Miss Liu has no special background; she's just a star performer at the Fengqing Yuyun Nightclub. But don't underestimate her. With her fame alone, she could easily have people willing to go through fire and water for her. Besides, she only sings, she doesn't drink with customers. She's a high-class person, so high and mighty that even the mayor wouldn't give her a second glance."

Another patron chimed in, "Not only that, but hearing Miss Liu sing is a matter of luck; she doesn't come every day. You actually wanted to drink with her? I wouldn't even dare to dream of doing that..."

The sound stopped abruptly, and the surroundings gradually quieted down.

A figure squeezed onto the sofa and sat down next to Feng Xiuhu.

Feng Xiuhu turned his head to look.

Liu Ying'er opened the bottle and poured two glasses of whiskey, then handed one of them to Feng Xiuhu and clinked glasses with him lightly.

Feng Xiuhu looked at her without saying anything.

Liu Ying'er seemed to have come out without even changing her clothes; she was still wearing the cheongsam she wore during her performance, and only spent a little time re-doing her hair.

She took a sip of her wine, squinted at Feng Xiuhu, and asked, "Do I sing well?"

Feng Xiuhu gently swirled the glass, the wine swirling at the bottom.

He nodded honestly and said, "It sounds good."

Feng Xiuhu stared intently at Liu Ying'er, who glared at him and asked, "Is she that pretty?"

She misunderstood; Feng Xiuhu was staring at her because he suspected her.

Although they looked and spoke the same voice, Feng Xiuhu still couldn't help but doubt whether the person in front of him was really the Goddess of Wind and Rain—because the Goddess would never speak to him like that.

A series of synchronized swallowing sounds filled the air.

Some people couldn't resist any longer and tentatively stepped forward, raising their wine glasses.

He didn't even glance at Feng Xiuhu, but instead smiled obsequiously at Liu Ying'er: "Miss Liu, let's get acquainted, I am..."

Before she could finish speaking, Liu Ying'er gently waved her hand.

The security guards in black coats nearby immediately ran over and forcibly dragged the drinker away. Then, these guards lined up to block Feng Xiuhu's position from the others behind him.

Feng Xiuhu overheard the whispers among the crowd.

"Who is that person?"

"I don't know, I've never seen anyone sitting in those three individual seats."

"Could it be that he has a bigger background than the mayor?"

"Let alone mayor, even the Duke of Daguo has never sat in that position..."

The Empress is behaving very strangely today, and Feng Xiuhu is not quite sure what's going on.

Liu Ying'er looked at him with a smile: "Speak, what do you want to see me about?"

Feng Xiuhu carefully considered his tone before speaking, "Your Majesty, there is something I need to tell you... um?"

Liu Ying'er raised her index finger and pressed it against Feng Xiuhu's lips, leaving Feng Xiuhu completely bewildered.

Liu Ying'er pouted slightly, with a hint of complaint: "Call me Liu Ying'er, esteemed guest."

Feng Xiuhu's eyelids twitched; the conversation was really going to get a bit out of hand.

Liu Ying'er clinked glasses with him again. Seeing that Feng Xiuhu was holding his glass but not drinking, she jokingly asked, "Are you unhappy because I'm keeping you company?" Feng Xiuhu looked at her, then tilted his head back and drank the whole glass in one gulp.

Setting down his cup, Feng Xiuhu grinned: "Didn't you say you wouldn't drink with others?"

This attitude finally satisfied Liu Ying'er, and she smiled happily: "It depends on who it is."

Feng Xiuhu asked, "How else can we look at it? Even you, the mayor, won't give us the honor."

"You are different."

Liu Ying'er's eyes sparkled: "You are a god."

Feng Xiuhu laughed and said, "Wow, I'm pretty shameless—so Liu Ying'er is your real name?"

Liu Ying'er winked playfully: "Guess."

Feng Xiuhu realized that her eyes could speak—the usually taciturn Lady Fengyu had made up for it all with these eyes.

Feng Xiuhu pointed to his ear and leered, "Then tell me quietly."

As he spoke, he mustered his courage and reached his hand behind Liu Ying'er's waist, intending to pull her close.

Snapped!
Liu Ying'er slapped Feng Xiuhu's hand away.

She glared at me and snapped, "I'll have a few drinks with you, what do you take me for?"

Feng Xiuhu felt wronged: "Didn't you hint to me first, making me think of you as Liu Ying'er?"

Liu Ying'er rolled her eyes at him: "Liu Ying'er only performs for money."

Feng Xiuhu reluctantly withdrew his hand: "I have to play along with your act, but I can't take advantage of you—I feel like I'm the one who's the one serving drinks?"

Liu Ying'er took Feng Xiuhu's arm, shook it gently, and said in a coquettish tone, "Honorable guest, this doesn't seem like it anymore, does it?"

It was too late; Feng Xiuhu wasn't buying it anymore—mainly because he was increasingly unsure of what Lady Fengyu would do tonight.

Feng Xiuhu withdrew his hand and said with a righteous expression, "Ying'er, I've come here on important business."

Liu Ying'er snorted softly, seemingly displeased with his lack of romantic understanding: "Speak up, you wouldn't come if it weren't for something important."

The conversation finally got back on track. To prevent Liu Ying'er from causing trouble again, Feng Xiuhu quickly revealed his purpose: "The God of Good Fortune has hidden a big snot in Fancheng, and I just happened to find out about it. We're so close, my heart is definitely on your side, so I came to give you a heads-up."

Liu Ying'er was stunned for several seconds after hearing this.

She blinked, wanting to ask a lot of questions, but didn't know where to begin.

Feng Xiuhu became anxious: "You'd better give me an explanation!"

"Wait a minute."

Liu Ying'er raised her hand, sorted out her thoughts, and asked.

When did you see good fortune?

"How do you know it's her?"

"You know her?"

What does "big snot" mean?

"She hid her snot in Sail City—is that even human language?"

Feng Xiuhu was also stunned; the matter was a bit complicated to explain.

After a two-second pause, Feng Xiuhu waved his hand: "Never mind the rest for now, let's talk about the most important thing first—that big lump of snot."

Liu Ying'er looked incredulous: "Snot is the most important thing?"

Feng Xiuhu finally remembered what that thing was called: "Divine Power Polymer! It really does look like a lump of snot."

Feng Xiuhu gestured and explained, finally describing the thing to Liu Ying'er. Then, shamelessly plagiarizing Shi's words, he said, "That thing gave me a sense of danger. I bet at least three true gods have tampered with it."
