Chapter 406 What Fu Tailan Did in Secret

Chapter 406 Fu Tai Lan - What He Did in Secret

At the moment of a car accident, a person has no coherent thoughts; only fragments remain.

Fragments of vision, fragments of touch, fragments of emotions, fragments of one's life's memories... explode like countless fireworks, blooming under the vast darkness of life's curtain.

When Fu Tailan felt his body lighten and the world turn upside down, he closed his eyes.

His hands were handcuffed as soon as he got in the car, and he wasn't wearing a seatbelt; logically speaking, it wouldn't be surprising if he died in this car accident.

But he didn't die, and it seems he won't die anytime soon.

You see, nest dissociation isn't all bad.

The pain of each impact, squeeze, and scrape is not real, nor does it touch the flesh.

The pain seemed to originate from some distant place outside his body, washing over him like a tide, not from his skull that had been smashed, his arm that was broken beneath him... or any other part of his body.

He didn't know when he had fainted.

When Fu Tailan opened her eyes again, the sounds that had been blocked by the car accident rushed into her mind all at once—the warning alarm from some car, the screeching sound of a vehicle braking suddenly, someone shouting, gunshots, and the seemingly endless rumbling rain.

Fu Tailan raised her two handcuffed hands and touched her forehead—from her forehead to the top of her head, there was a deep dent, big enough to fit a fist.

It feels a little tight to the touch, yet also quite novel.

By placing his hand into the depression, he could feel the skull and flesh gradually gathering from all directions, pushing the pit outwards and smoothing it out.

This was the second time the vulture had saved his life. And his face.

Fu Tailan glanced over.

The bright headlights from the sides and rear, and the flashing gunfire in the rain, shattered the dimness inside the car, scattering fragments that clung to the deep corners of the cabin.

Are the other bodyguards exchanging fire with Chai Si's side?
For a moment, I really didn't know who to cheer for.

Ah, so the heavy weight that had been pressing down on me all along was the bodyguard captain. I don't know what he bumped into, but a patch of hot, bloody sweat had spread across half of Fu Tai Lan's body, but he seemed to still be alive and breathing.

"Damn it," Carter gasped, muttering a string of profanities from the other end of the bodyguard captain's line. He clutched his head, slowly getting to his feet, fumbling for something. "You dared to run me over...you dared to run me over...Where's the gun? Where did you put it, wake up, you piece of trash!"

The bodyguard captain had already passed out, but Carter, who was in the lead, looked perfectly fine and seemed to have suffered no injuries at all. He was quite strong when he was cursing and pushing people—was he wearing a fake body for self-defense?
Carter must have brought something for self-defense when he met with Fu Tailan; he probably never expected that it would come in handy because of Chaisi.

He glanced back at the car and saw something that made him even more panicked. He frantically searched for his gun inside the car.

Both were looking for something, but Fu Tailan was much luckier than him: the reason Carter couldn't find the gun on the bodyguard captain was because he had secretly taken it into his hand.

Not only the gun, but the bodyguard captain also pulled out the keychain hanging on his waist and managed to unlock the handcuffs in the narrow, cramped space.

As for the dream, it had already escaped to some unknown place after he transferred the vulture particles, having lost its restraint.

Carter glanced out of the car again, and this time, his fear almost leaped out of his chest.

"Hey!" He abandoned the bodyguard captain and slapped the driver in front of him. "Give me the weapon, he's coming!"

The driver sat slumped in his seat, motionless.

If someone's head turns into a black abyss belt, can they still die?

"They're all useless—"

Before Carter could finish speaking, the twisted and deformed car door was suddenly ripped open—the heavy door seemed unable to resist, and was pulled out inch by inch from the bent frame with a shrill sound that seemed to pierce the skull and scratch the brain.

Fu Tailan only knows one person with this power.

As soon as the car door opened, the bright sunlight and rain poured in. A dark figure stood in the doorway.

“Mr. Monroe,” Carter said, forcing himself to remain calm, “you should know me—”

Before he could finish speaking, the figure reached out and grabbed Carter's clothes.

He glanced at Carter only once, and as if he had lost interest in him once he confirmed that the latter was not Fu Tailan. He grabbed Carter, pulled and tossed him out of the car—the not-so-small Carter was thrown out like a piece of trash, landing heavily on the rainy ground.

“Brother Chai,” a female voice called from afar. It was Han Liuyue. “Be careful, he might be an imposter.”

Chess Monroe did not utter a sound.

As he dragged the bodyguard captain out of the car in the same way, he already had a gun in his other hand, pointing it straight at Fu Tai Lan.

“Get up,” he said in a hoarse voice, “I know you’re not dead.”

Alas, it’s true.

Fu Tailan sighed and opened her eyes; Chai Si stood outside the car with his back to the light, his face and expression were not clear, only his wet black hair was slightly illuminated by the rain.

He lay in the overturned car, beneath shattered glass and twisted steel, watching the torrential rain pouring down outside, and slowly smiled.

"What do you want? Can't you survive?"

The next second, his vision blurred, his throat tightened, and a large hand grabbed his neck, dragged him out of the carriage, and threw him to the ground.

Chai Si stomped on Fu Tailan's chest, causing him to black out. Chai Si seemed to be trying his best to control the force, not letting his foot crush his sternum, penetrate his body, and squeeze his internal organs and blood into the rainwater on the ground.

"explain,"

Chai Si stood in the rain, illuminated by car headlights, his eyes bloodshot. His gun was fixed on Fu Tai Lan, each word squeezed out through clenched teeth: "...Where did she go?"

Fu Tailan had never seen Chai Si so angry.

He was so angry that he had lost his composure; his chest heaved violently, and his words and voice trembled uncontrollably.

Chai Si's soaked body was slightly curled up, as if he had been punched in the stomach and was in so much pain that he couldn't straighten up—it was hard to tell whether he was about to fly into a rage or burst into tears.

...That's right, you should strike the snake at its vital spot.

The view from the front row seats is quite interesting.

Fu Tailan was so badly trampled that she could barely breathe, her mind still foggy; though the pain was distant, her body was still not quite under her control.

"What are you talking about?" He decided to play dumb for a while, to prolong this amusement a little longer. "Where did what go? Your brain?"

Before he could finish speaking, he heard Han Liuyue, who was not far behind him, release the safety of his pistol and shout at someone, "Don't move."

“I…I’m not running away. Um, I can offer you value,” Carter stammered. “I’m Carter Morgan, and we can join forces with the Kay family to dominate the game…”

He probably thought that Chai Si was tracking a decoy of the target, right?
He thought Chai Si wanted to take back the target illusion, and that Fu Tai Lan would expose him, right?
Chai Si didn't even lift his eyelids.

He stared at Fu Tai Lan as if it were the most astonishingly ugly thing in the world, and he would have to use all his strength to avoid crushing it immediately.

Chai Si slowly opened his mouth, his breath trembling, and raindrops wet his eyelashes like tears.

"...Where did you put Uncle Kai's access route?"
