Chapter 117: No File for Youyou

The next morning, Jiang Yuan went out with Little Sparrow Coco after breakfast.

She drove her car to the foot of a mountain, guided by the little sparrow Coco.

The mountain is 20 kilometers from her home and is called Yan'an Mountain.

There weren't many cars in the parking lot, but you could see hikers and cyclists every now and then.

Jiang Yuan followed the little sparrow Coco through the woods to a stream, where several long-legged birds whose names she didn't know stood in the rushing water.

“Qiuqiu was caught here.” After saying this, Little Sparrow Coco flapped her wings and flew towards the sandpipers who were drinking water. “Friends, it’s too dangerous here. You can’t play here.”

Upon hearing this, several sandpipers looked at the little sparrow Coco.

It hurriedly explained, "Here's what happened: last night my friend Qiuqiu was kidnapped by those bad humans here!"

"What?" one of the sandpipers exclaimed excitedly. "Qiuqiu has been kidnapped by bad guys? No wonder I haven't seen her all day!"

Another sandpiper said somberly, “This isn’t the first time those humans have come. I’ve seen storks being captured several times.”

"These humans are awful!" the smaller sandpiper exclaimed indignantly. "Why did they do this? The birds haven't done anything to wrong humans!"

The sandpiper, which spoke first, said sadly, "Does this mean the birds have to move to a different place to live?"

"Perhaps only in this way can we prevent the tragedy from happening again."

"Waaaaah, I really don't want to leave this place..."

The little sparrows, infected by their dejected mood, also hung their heads in disappointment, sighing, "Sigh!"

Jiang Yuan carefully climbed down the slope and walked towards the stream.

Sensing her movement, the largest sandpiper immediately alerted, "A human is approaching!"

Little Sparrow Coco was also startled, but quickly realized that the human they were referring to was Jiang Yuan.

It breathed a sigh of relief and quickly explained, "Don't be afraid, everyone. This is Sparrow's human friend. Her name is Yuan Yuan. I asked her to help find Qiu Qiu."

Upon hearing this, the sandpipers that were about to fly away stopped and stared at Jiang Yuan with their red eyes.

"Little sparrow, you actually have human friends?" The largest sandpiper was extremely surprised. "Aren't you afraid of humans at all?"

"Of course I'm scared," Coco the little sparrow explained. "But I'm not afraid of Yuan Yuan. She's a very nice human being who loves animals and won't hurt anyone."

"Are there really such good humans?" The sandpipers were skeptical.

Jiang Yuan used her phone to scan an image and realized that the long-legged birds were black-winged stilts.

"Hello," she greeted gently. "I'm Jiang Yuan. You can call me Yuan Yuan, just like Coco does."

The sandpipers are quite incredible.

It's amazing that humans would introduce themselves to them so earnestly.

The largest sandpiper thought for a moment, then politely spoke up: "Hello, I am Locke."

Seeing this, the other sandpipers also introduced themselves to Jiang Yuan.

"Hello, I'm Bessie."

“I am Nika.”

Jiang Yuan memorized them one by one, and said seriously, "I came here because Coco's friend Qiuqiu was captured by humans, and she asked me to help find Qiuqiu."

"Could you help me find Xiao Pai?" The youngest sandpiper, Nika, looked at Jiang Yuan, her red eyes filled with expectation.

"Was Xiao Pai also captured by humans?" Jiang Yuan asked Nika. "When was it captured?"

“It’s been several days,” Nika recalled. “I made plans to play with Pai that day, but when I got there, I saw Pai being stuffed into a sack by humans.”

Nika was extremely anxious and chased after him for a while.

Jiang Yuan's eyes lit up. "Do you know where they went?" Nika shook her head. "I chased them for a while, but I got a little scared and came back."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yuan's slender eyebrows slowly furrowed. "Do you often encounter humans trying to catch your birds?"

“Yes, humans seem to prefer catching big birds,” Locke replied. “Now many big birds don’t dare to come here.”

“Sometimes they’ll catch smaller birds if there aren’t any big ones.” Bessie said with some lingering fear, “I almost got caught once.”

“I understand.” Jiang Yuan nodded. “I will tell the police about this, and they will do their best to catch the people who stole the birds.”

"Really?" Bessie was pleasantly surprised.

Jiang Yuan smiled slightly: "I will definitely give you a safe and happy home."

Nika exclaimed happily, "That's wonderful!"

Jiang Yuan took a few photos of the surroundings, put down her phone, and asked Little Sparrow Coco, "Baby, I'm going back now. Do you want to come with me or stay here?"

Little Sparrow Coco said sweetly, "Yuan Yuan, I'm not going back yet. Be careful on your way home!"

"Okay." Jiang Yuan's eyes curved into a smile. "You all need to be careful. I'll be going now."

She waved to the birds and climbed up the slope to the highway.

Bessie watched Jiang Yuan's retreating figure, then lowered her head and asked the little sparrow, "Coco, does Yuan Yuan like you a lot? I heard her call you 'baby'."

"Hehe," Little Sparrow Coco said proudly, "Of course!"

"That's wonderful!" Bessie said with a hint of envy. "She's the most beautiful human I've ever seen."

"Of course!" Little Sparrow Coco nodded in agreement. "Yuan Yuan is so pretty!"

Nika muttered, "I wish she would call me 'baby' too."

Jiang Yuan had no idea that she would receive a wave of praise after she left.

She drove to the police station and told Si Heng what she knew.

"Do you think this group might be connected to the people who captured the baby kiwi, Youyou?"

“Very likely.” Si Heng’s deep brows showed deep thought. “By the way, we need to go to Wulin Mountain.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yuan's dark eyes suddenly lit up. "Any clues?"

“Yes.” Si Heng handed her a document. “The Forestry Bureau discovered that Youyou’s file was missing from the data on macaques submitted by Wulin Mountain.”

Jiang Yuan's brows furrowed slowly. "So, it's very likely that Youyou's theft is related to the staff at Wulin Mountain."

“Yes.” Si Heng nodded.

He sent people to Yan'an Mountain to observe, while he himself took Jiang Yuan to Wulin Mountain Forest Park.

Police cars sped along the highway.

The scenery outside the car kept rushing past. Jiang Yuan thought of something and turned to look at the man in the driver's seat. "I want to see Annie first."

Si Heng turned his head and met her gaze for a moment, then said, "Okay."

Cai Wenliang, director of the Wulinshan Forest Park Protection Center, personally received the two.

Si Heng said calmly, "Director Cai, we want to see Annie."

Cai Wenliang immediately made a phone call to make arrangements, but the monkey manager said that Annie was not feeling well and it was inconvenient for her to meet.

"Annie isn't feeling well?" Jiang Yuan frowned. "Then I need to see her even more."

Cai Wenliang looked troubled: "Ms. Jiang, please understand, animals are not like people."

Si Heng said calmly, "Director Cai, please understand our work. We must see Annie today."
