Chapter 121 Foot Stabs Glass
Night had fallen.

The car sped through the night.

"Oh no!" Jiang Yuan, sitting in the passenger seat, suddenly exclaimed.

Upon hearing this, Si Heng turned his head to look at her and asked with concern, "What's wrong?"

“Millie!” Jiang Yuan said, “I promised Millie that if it led me to Annie, I would take a picture of it and treat it to something to eat. I was in such a hurry that I forgot to say goodbye to it.”

A smile appeared in Si Heng's deep black eyes. "It's alright. I'll call Director Cai later and ask him to pass on the message to Mi Li."

"That's the only way." Jiang Yuan nodded.

"Are you hungry?" Si Heng asked.

Jiang Yuan was about to say she wasn't hungry, but her stomach answered faster, "Grumble~"

The man's thin lips curved slightly. "Let's go eat first, I'm hungry too."

“Okay,” Jiang Yuan agreed immediately.

Si Heng gripped the steering wheel, his voice gentle, "What would you like to eat?"

Jiang Yuan: "I'm fine with anything, what about you?"

Si Heng thought for a moment, "Do you like beef? I know a really good beef noodle shop."

"all right."

"Then let's try it there."

The beef noodle shop Si Heng mentioned is a small street-side shop that has been open for thirty years, called Tang Ji Beef Noodles.

The shop is run by a couple in their forties. The shop was passed down from their parents, and the neighbors all love their chewy and tender beef noodles.

Si Heng led Jiang Yuan to sit down near the entrance.

"Aheng's here." Xiao Tang saw him and walked out of the store with a smile. "He even brought a friend with him today."

“This is my colleague Jiang Yuan,” Si Heng introduced, then said to Jiang Yuan, “I’ve been eating at this beef noodle shop for twenty years.”

Xiao Tang smiled broadly: "I hadn't even taken over this shop yet when you came here to eat beef noodles!"

Jiang Yuan raised her eyebrows slightly, "If you can eat this beef noodle soup for twenty years without getting tired of it, it's definitely worth a try."

Xiao Tang: "If it doesn't taste good, you don't have to pay."

Si Heng ordered two bowls of signature beef noodles and two snacks.

Jiang Yuan took a tissue to wipe the table and found that the table was very clean.

While waiting for the beef noodles, a couple got into an argument at the barbecue restaurant next door.

The girl threw the skewers she was holding on the ground and said angrily, "I've put up with you for so long!"

"What's going on?" The boy frowned. "Why did you throw away the barbecue? That's such a waste!"

The girl said angrily, "I put on such beautiful makeup and wore such elegant clothes, and you bring me to eat at a roadside stall?"

"This isn't a roadside stall!" the boy said, equally displeased. "Isn't this a storefront? Besides, I brought you here because I thought it was delicious. If you didn't want to eat here, you could have said so before we even ordered. Why did you have to wait until now to throw a tantrum?"

"Are you blaming me?" The girl got even angrier and flipped the folding table over. "You invite a girl to eat in such a lousy place, no wonder you're single, you poor bastard!"

She left those words behind, grabbed her handbag, and walked away in her high heels without looking back.

Watching her retreating figure, the boy shouted angrily, "Didn't you say you wanted to come try this barbecue with me? Now that I've brought you here, you're saying I'm poor? I'm speechless!"

Si Heng withdrew his gaze, looked at the two snacks on the table, and his dark eyebrows slowly furrowed.

After a while, he looked up at Jiang Yuan and asked, "Isn't this kind of dinner a bit too meager?"

Jiang Yuan was chewing on a hand-torn scallion pancake.

She shook her head, swallowed what was in her mouth, and said, "No, nowadays, many people actually make a point of visiting these old shops."

Si Heng was finally relieved.

A steaming bowl of their signature beef noodles was placed on the table.

Si Heng unpacked a pair of disposable chopsticks and handed them to her. "Try it and see if it suits your taste. If you don't like it, there are other restaurants around here." "It's okay." Jiang Yuan picked up a mouthful of noodles, blew on it to cool it down a bit, and then ate it.

She gave a thumbs up, "These noodles are so chewy."

Si Heng smiled and said, "The beef slices are also delicious."

"Let me try it." Jiang Yuan picked up a slice of meat, chewed it, and a hint of amazement appeared in her eyes. "The beef is so fresh."

Xiao Tang placed another bowl of noodles in front of Si Heng, "Enjoy your meal. You can get more noodles for free if you need more."

"Such delicious noodles can be refilled for free?" Jiang Yuan exclaimed in surprise.

Xiao Tang explained with a smile, "Most of our customers are regulars. Since everyone supports us so much, we will try our best to offer more discounts. The 8th of each month is our members' day, where you can get a 20% discount."

Jiang Yuan gave him a thumbs up, "A boss with awareness, there's a reason why he's been able to stay in business for so long."

"Thank you for the compliment. You two enjoyed your meal." After saying that, Xiao Tang turned to look at the little black dog lying to the side.

"Xiao Hei, what's wrong with you today?" Xiao Tang frowned with concern as he looked at Xiao Hei's sullen expression.

After wiping down the kitchen, Mrs. Tang came out and said, "It seems to have been like this since last night. Should we take it to see a vet?"

Xiao Tang sighed, "If it's still like this tomorrow, I'll take it to get it checked out."

"Okay." Little Tang nodded.

Customers came to the shop, and Xiao Tang and his wife got busy again.

Little Black lay at the shop entrance, whimpering in pain, "My feet hurt so much, waah, my feet hurt..."

Jiang Yuan's attention was drawn to it, and she turned her head to stare at it while eating her beef noodles.

"I can't move, I can't move at all!" Little Black was heartbroken, lying on the ground helplessly shedding tears. "Am I going to die? Waaah, no! I don't want to leave my dad and mom!"

Si Heng followed Jiang Yuan's gaze and asked, "What's wrong?"

"The little black dog seems uncomfortable." Jiang Yuan put down her chopsticks and walked over. She squatted down in front of the little black dog. "What happened to your foot?"

"My feet hurt so much," Little Black whimpered pitifully.

Jiang Yuan looked at its four legs. "Which leg?"

Xiao Hei twitched its right front paw slightly, "This foot hurts."

"Let me take a look." Jiang Yuan reached out and grasped its right front paw, examining it carefully before discovering that its paw was stuck in glass. "So that's what happened."

Little Black asked fearfully, "Am I going to die?"

"No," Jiang Yuan said with a smile. "Don't overthink it. It's just a piece of glass that got stuck in it. You can just pull it out."

She got up and went into the store.

When Aunt Tang saw her come in, she smiled and asked, "Miss, what's wrong?"

Jiang Yuan explained, "Boss lady, the little dog at the door has a piece of glass stuck in its paw. Do you have any tools to help it get it out?"

"Let me look for it." Little Tang's wife quickly put down the rag in her hand.

She found a pair of scissors. "Will this be okay?"

"I'll give it a try." Jiang Yuan took the scissors.

Aunt Tang followed her out and realized that the dog she was referring to was her own dog, Xiao Hei. "Girl, do you mean Xiao Hei has glass stuck in its paw?"

“Yes.” Jiang Yuan nodded.

Si Heng also came over and took the scissors from her hand, saying, "I'll do it."

“The glass is here.” Jiang Yuan turned on her phone’s flashlight and pointed a finger at the small patch of glass that was showing.

When Si Heng clamped the glass, Xiao Hei convulsed in pain and tried to resist. Jiang Yuan raised her hand and stroked its head to comfort it.

"Good dog, your paw won't hurt anymore once it's out of the glass."
