Chapter 328 Her gaze was somewhat strange

Manager Zhang looked at the plump woman and explained with a smile, "Ms. Deng is looking for a housekeeper. If she thinks you're suitable, you'll have work to do."

"Has Ms. Deng arrived yet?" the plump woman asked eagerly. "I'm very good at my job, she'll definitely be satisfied."

With their backs to the fat woman, Deng Rui and Jiang Yuan suddenly felt that the voice was becoming more and more familiar.

The mother and daughter exchanged a glance and then looked back.

The fat woman's expression suddenly froze when she met their gazes.

Jiang Yuan raised an eyebrow and a hint of interest flashed in her eyes when she saw the other person's chubby face.

Cao Laoting, what a coincidence.

Cao Laoting never expected to meet Deng Rui and Jiang Yuan here.

She stiffly shifted her gaze to Manager Zhang, "Is this the Ms. Deng from the East Coast Villa you were talking about?"

"Yes," Manager Zhang nodded.

Cao Laoting was completely petrified on the spot.

After a while, she calmed down and said incredulously, "Deng Rui, did you also become a nanny? Are you here to recruit for your employer?"

"Xiao Cao, what are you talking about?" Manager Zhang scolded. "How could Ms. Deng be a nanny?"

"She couldn't possibly live in a villa! I don't believe it!" Cao Laoting shook her head vigorously. "Why would she live in a villa? Especially an East Coast villa!"

Jiang Yuan scoffed, "Does Ms. Cao have to work as a nanny now?"

Upon hearing these words, Cao Laoting felt a surge of hatred welling up inside her.

Why do I need to be a nanny? Isn't it all because of Kang Won?
She had casually made up a story that she had died in a car accident, but the family found out she was cursing Jiang Yuan, which caused them all to lose their jobs.

Now she is a sinner.

Her son and daughter are both sitting at home waiting for her to support them. If she doesn't become a nanny, she'll have to go out and collect recyclables.

She couldn't out-collect recyclables from others, so she ended up becoming a nanny.

But after she paid the money to Manager Zhang, she met several employers who were all dissatisfied with her.

More than half a month has passed, and I still haven't found a job.

"You two know each other?" Manager Zhang asked in surprise.

“I know her.” Jiang Yuan chuckled. “Ms. Cao was quite famous in our old neighborhood.”

Deng Rui also said slowly, "Ms. Cao, can't you make money just by lying down? Why do you need to work as a nanny?"

"Making money while lying down?" Manager Zhang looked skeptical. "It can't be what I'm thinking, can it?"

Jiang Yuan raised an eyebrow and smiled: "Please feel free to use your imagination."

Deng Rui: "Manager Zhang, aren't you afraid that the female employers will come knocking on your door?"

Manager Zhang: "..."

A thought flashed through her mind, and she instantly understood. "Excuse me, gentlemen, I'll have to excuse myself for a moment."

"Xiao Cao." Manager Zhang stood up and walked to Cao Laoting's side, saying earnestly, "You've been registered with me for over half a month, and you've met several employers, but none of them are suitable. Perhaps I'm not the right place for you..."

Manager Zhang would rather earn less money than have his employer come knocking on his door to settle scores.

"I'll refund the money you paid when you registered. Why don't you try other industries?"

If someone who likes to make money while lying down tries to seduce the male homeowner, then they're doomed.

Cao Laoting didn't want to lose face in front of Jiang Yuan and Deng Rui, so she didn't say anything, took the money, and left.

"Ms. Deng, thank you so much for reminding me today." Manager Zhang returned to his office, his face full of gratitude. "I've already sent her away."

Deng Rui nodded. "Is there one more?"

"Yes," Manager Zhang said. "I'll urge them on."

Jiang Yuan got up and walked to the window, where she saw two small birds perched on the windowsill, chirping away.

She opened the window, intending to chat with them, when she suddenly heard a magpie talking. "There are three humans in here. Which one is Zhang Dan, who's about to die?"

The magpie's friend was a sparrow, who replied, "It looks like that chubby, big one. I've seen her picture."

The magpie sighed, "She's so pitiful."

“Yes.” Sparrow nodded. “Being killed by one’s own family is truly tragic.”

"Why would her family want to harm her?" Jiang Yuan asked softly. "Do you know?"

The magpie and sparrow looked at Jiang Yuan following the sound, their beady eyes flashing with surprise.

"Is the magpie dreaming? Is this human talking to us?"

"You heard that too? I thought it was just my imagination!"

“It’s not a hallucination,” Jiang Yuan said with a slight smile. “I am indeed talking to you.”

The magpie mustered its courage and asked, "How are you so amazing? This is the first time I've ever met a human who can understand me!"

"This is the first time I've encountered this either," the sparrow said.

Manager Zhang had already hung up the phone and gave Deng Rui an apologetic smile: "I'm sorry, Ms. Deng, that person said they had something urgent to attend to at home and can't come."

Deng Rui frowned. "Then I've made another wasted trip."

"I'm so sorry," Manager Zhang said, feeling very embarrassed.

Deng Rui turned her head to look at Jiang Yuan and saw her chatting with the birds outside the window. Her brows relaxed and she said lightly, "It's nothing. I just came over for a cup of tea."

"Thank you very much." Manager Zhang was very grateful. "I have some newly arrived tea leaves here. I heard they are very delicious. Shall I brew a pot for you to try?"

Deng Rui looked away: "Either is fine."

Jiang Yuan was still leaning on the windowsill talking to the birds. Manager Zhang glanced at her and exclaimed in surprise, "Those two birds aren't afraid of my sister at all."

Normally, the birds would fly away as soon as someone approached, even through the glass.

“My daughter has a real affinity for animals,” Deng Rui said with a smile.

After hearing the whole story from the two little birds, Jiang Yuan looked at Manager Zhang with a hint of sympathy.

Manager Zhang was probably intrigued that the two little birds weren't afraid of Jiang Yuan, so he looked over curiously and happened to meet Jiang Yuan's gaze.

She felt that her gaze was a little strange, as if it carried some deeper meaning.

Manager Zhang frowned slightly and hesitated before asking, "Sister, is there something you want to tell me?"

"Yes." Jiang Yuan closed the glass window, and two small birds appeared in her palm.

She walked up to Manager Zhang, holding two small birds in her hands.

Manager Zhang's gaze fell on the little birds in her hand. "Why are they willing to stay still?"

“Because I have a special connection with them,” Jiang Yuan said, pulling out a stool and sitting down.

"Little sister, why were you looking at me like that just now?" Manager Zhang couldn't help but ask.

Jiang Yuan pursed her lips and slowly said, "I just heard some things about your family, and I find it unbelievable."

"My family's affairs?" Manager Zhang thought she was joking and asked with amusement, "Little sister, who told you that?"

She hadn't even seen Jiang Yuan leave, so where could she have heard about her?

Jiang Yuan looked down at the two little birds in her palm. "I heard it from them."

"Them?" Manager Zhang's smile deepened. "You mean these two little birds?"

“Yes.” Jiang Yuan nodded.

Manager Zhang: "..."

She didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Jiang Yuan looks like she's already an adult, so why is she making such childish jokes?
