Chapter 380 "Goodbye, Zeng Shirui".

It's a bit windy tonight.

Zeng Shirui opened the door, her hair instantly becoming disheveled by the wind.

She said into the phone, "Brother Shuo, I'm out now."

Seeing this, the birds perched on the rooftop railing started discussing it amongst themselves.

"Look! The humans Mary asked us to keep an eye on have come out!"

Who is she talking to?

"They have cell phones. Humans have high technology. They can communicate with others using cell phones."

“It’s amazing!”

A little bird flew over curiously to look at her phone.

Mary's friend also flew over, but not to check the phone; it wanted to hear what the human was saying.

The man on the other end of the phone, referred to as Brother Shuo, said softly, "Shi Rui, you're amazing. Keep going, okay?"

"Okay," Zeng Shirui obediently replied.

For a moment, the pitch-black sky was as bright as day, and lightning flashed by like a silver dragon, followed by a deafening roar of thunder.

Boom——

The rain fell drop by drop, like beads from a broken string.

Zeng Shirui's shoulders hunched instinctively, and she closed her eyes slightly. "Brother Shuo, it's raining."

"It's raining," the man chuckled dismissively. "It's more atmospheric when it rains."

"Can I go back inside?" Zeng Shirui asked.

"No way." The man gave a wicked smile. "Shirui, are you scared? You don't want to see me anymore?"

“I’m not afraid.” Zeng Shirui quickly shook her head. “I want to see him.”

“Okay,” the man said. “Then let’s keep going.”

"Okay." Zeng Shirui walked forward cautiously. "Shuo... can I stop?"

"You can stop when you reach the guardrail."

The cold rain soaked Zeng Shirui, her hair clung to her face, and her clothes were completely wet.

She felt cold, and her body trembled uncontrollably.

Zeng Shirui stood in front of the railing and whispered, "I've stopped. What should I do next?"

"Shi Rui, look down."

"it is good."

Zeng Shirui slowly lowered her head and looked down from the rooftop on the ninth floor. She could see nothing but darkness.

Have you seen it?

"Looked."

"Very good, can you see me?"

“No.” Zeng Shirui shook her head blankly. “I didn’t see anything.”

"How could that be?" The man's voice still held a hint of amusement. "I've already seen you."

"Really?" Zeng Shirui's tone was tinged with surprise. "But I really didn't see you."

The man chuckled softly, "Shirui, then jump down, and I'll catch you."

“I…” Zeng Shirui looked at the bottomless darkness, hesitating, “If I jump down, will I be able to see you?”

The birds circling around her became very anxious upon hearing this.

"Human, you can't jump!"

"It's very high up here, you absolutely mustn't jump! You don't have wings, you'll die if you jump!"

Mary flew up as well and happened to see this scene. She immediately cried out in panic, "Don't jump! Don't jump! Everyone stop her! Yuan Yuan is coming soon!"

Several small birds flapped their wings and blocked Zeng Shirui's way.

The man on the other end of the phone heard the birds chirping and said impatiently, "It's noisy on your end, chase them away."

“Okay.” Zeng Shirui waved her arms. “Go away, Shuo-gege thinks it’s too noisy!” The birds not only didn’t leave, but also pecked at her clothes with their sharp beaks, trying to drag her away from the place.

"Go away!" Zeng Shirui was getting angry, and her actions to shoo the bird away became increasingly rough and barbaric. "Go away! You annoying little bird!"

"Shirui," the man called again, "Forget about the little bird, come down and find me first."

"I understand." Zeng Shirui stepped onto the railing.

When Mary saw this, she was so frightened that she almost couldn't fly anymore.

Jiang Yuan climbed nine floors in one go, only to find that the door to the rooftop was locked.

She was sweating profusely with anxiety. She shone her flashlight around and picked up a stone, smashing it hard against the lock.

"Don't jump! He's a bad guy!"

"Get down here right now!"

"..."

The birds’ cries kept reaching Jiang Yuan’s ears, her heart was beating faster and faster, and the tender flesh on her palms was being rubbed raw by the sharp stones, causing a stinging pain.

Is it too late?
No, we absolutely cannot let anything happen to Zeng Shirui.

Despite the pain, Jiang Yuan continued to smash the lock, finally managing to open it.

She quickly removed the lock and unbolted the door.

The moment Jiang Yuan pushed open the door, she saw Zeng Shirui standing on the railing with her arms outstretched. Her pupils contracted sharply, and her heart tightened as if it were being gripped tightly by an invisible hand.

When Mary saw Jiang Yuan, she was instantly overjoyed, as if she had seen a savior. She cried out excitedly, "Yuan Yuan, please let her down! She's going to jump!"

They were almost at their limit; the rain had soaked their feathers, and they could no longer fly.

Jiang Yuan rushed into the rain, wanting to persuade Zeng Shirui to come down, but saw her take one step forward.

"Very good." The phone in her palm had been switched to speaker, and the man coaxed her step by step, "I'm ready too."

He said, "Shirui, jump down, I will catch you, and then we will never be apart."

Zeng Shirui tilted her head back, her pale and tender face covered with raindrops. She closed her eyes, a smile curving her lips, "Brother Shuo, we will never be apart."

After saying that, she leaped into the air—

"Aaaaaaahhhhhh, you're really asking for it!" Mary closed her small eyes in terror.

The phone fell into the darkness, and the man smiled wickedly, "Goodbye, Zeng Shirui."

All the little birds closed their eyes.

Mary quietly opened her eyes a crack and saw Jiang Yuan leaning against the railing, half of her body hanging over it.

It blinked, puzzled, and asked, "Yuan Yuan, what's wrong?"

Jiang Yuan managed to squeeze out two words: "Save... people."

Upon hearing this, Mary peeked out and exclaimed in delight, "Ahhhhhh Yuan Yuan, you caught her!"

"Yes."

At the last moment, Jiang Yuan used all her strength to rush to the railing and grabbed Zeng Shirui's ankles tightly with both hands.

Her face turned bright red from the effort, and she struggled to breathe.

She prayed desperately that Si Heng and the others would arrive soon. She wasn't sure how long she could hold on, or if she would fall down with Zeng Shirui.

Jiang Yuan pursed her lips, not daring to think any further.

Hanging upside down, Zeng Shirui slowly opened her eyes and asked expectantly, "Brother Shuo, where are you? Did you catch me?"

Jiang Yuan: "..."

God the hell out there is Brother Shuo.

She simply didn't have the energy to respond to her, and gritted her teeth as she gripped the girl's ankle tightly.

Not receiving a response, Zeng Shirui shifted her body. "Where am I?"

"Don't move," Jiang Yuan warned in a deep voice.

Zeng Shirui looked around blankly, and finally spotted Jiang Yuan. "Who are you?"

Jiang Yuan felt she was running out of strength, and her feet, which were tightly pressed against the railing, suddenly loosened.
