Chapter 69 Injured
"Whoosh!"

"Pfft!"

The tearing sound in the air and the faint sound of arrows piercing flesh rang loudly in Er Laizi's ears.

His eyes widened as an arrow pierced his chest, and blood gushed out.

Shen Jinwen moved with lightning speed, like a cheetah, and pulled Xu Qingmeng out of danger.

At the same time, the men who had come to their senses tried to stop them, but it was too late.

The constables arrived just then and quickly got caught up in the melee, blocking the way for the others.

Xu Qingmeng's legs went weak and she sat down on the ground with a thud. Gu Yunyi walked over quickly with a stern face, his voice filled with lingering fear and a low, hoarse tone: "Mengniang, it's alright now."

Xu Qingmeng's gaze fell on the ground, then turned to Huang Boyang behind him, who was holding a bow and arrow. Clearly, the precise arrow that pierced the heart was his doing.

She had seen Gu Yunyi and the others the moment Huang Boyang picked up his bow and arrow, which is why she deliberately cried to attract their attention and give Huang Boyang an opportunity to take advantage of the situation.

"Yunyi, don't worry about me. Xun-ge'er has been slashed and is bleeding a lot. Quickly take him to the clinic." Although Xu Qingmeng's face was pale, she thought of her injured nephew and quickly said to him.

Gu Yunyi's expression changed, and he no longer cared about comforting Xu Qingmeng. His aura became even more fierce, and he led the group into the restaurant.

Seeing Xu Qingmeng's pale face, Madam He quickly went over and helped her up.

The moment Xu Qingmeng stood up, she felt a sharp pain in her stomach. She frowned and unconsciously placed her hand on her lower abdomen.

"Mengniang, what's wrong? Are you alright?"

"Mother, I'm fine." Xu Qingmeng forced a reassuring smile at Madam He, despite her discomfort.

Before long, Gu Yunyi and his men carried Xun Ge'er to the clinic.

Xu Qingmeng felt a chill run down her spine as she looked at the messy front hall and the pool of blood.

Suddenly, something occurred to her, her mind went blank, and she turned to look at Madam He: "Mother, where are Yunmo and Yunsheng?"

Madam He then came to her senses, paused for a moment, and then realized that she hadn't seen the two children: "Oh right, where are Yunmo and Yunsheng?"

"Mo'er? Sheng'er?"

Mrs. He quickly got up and shouted loudly.

Xu Qingmeng was also on tenterhooks, calling out from behind.

Before I could call out a few times, Yunmo emerged from the room, still half-asleep and with his head all fuzzy.

"Mother, sister-in-law. What's wrong? My sister is still sleeping." Yunmo rubbed her eyes, clearly not fully awake yet.

Xu Qingmeng felt a sense of relief, her tense nerves finally eased a little. She felt both annoyed and relieved, and went over to rub his head.

"Sister-in-law, things were already chaotic enough, and now it's even more chaotic," Yunmo said, pursing her lips.

"It's alright, no matter how chaotic things get, our Yunmo is still handsome."

These two children are truly blessed.

Now that Yun Sheng and Yun Mo have been found safe and sound, Xu Qingmeng has started to worry about finding her son.

Xu Qingmeng washed her face and rushed to the clinic. Before leaving, she reminded He Shi not to forget to hang up a sign at the door saying the clinic was closed.

After thanking the helpers at home, Mrs. He hung up the sign, closed the gate securely, and then slumped onto the couch with Yunmo in her arms. Although Yunmo was young, he was very clever and quickly sensed that something was wrong at home, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was.

He quickly hugged He Shi and asked, "Mother, what's wrong? Why did my sister-in-law go to the doctor's? Is she sick? Aren't you selling braised food this afternoon?"

Madam He shook her head: "Your sister-in-law isn't sick, it's Xun-ge'er who's injured. Your sister-in-law should go and check on him."

Upon hearing this, Yunmo's brows immediately furrowed, her eyes filled with worry: "How did you get hurt? Is it serious?"

Mrs. He rubbed her temples; she didn't know either.

When Xu Qingmeng arrived at the clinic, the doctor said that it was fortunate that he was brought in in time; if he had come any later, Xun Ge'er might never have been able to do heavy work again.

Xu Qingmeng breathed a sigh of relief. She had brought Xun Ge'er out to help him, but now she hadn't even let him earn more money and start a family. If he lost an arm, it would be disastrous.

How could she possibly face the Xu family then? Fortunately, Gu Yunyi arrived in time.

Xun Ge'er was fine, and Xin Ting was taking care of him. Xu Qingmeng found a doctor and asked him to check her pulse to see if the baby in her belly was alright.

Upon hearing this, the doctor looked up at Xu Qingmeng and, seeing her pale face, nodded, gesturing for her to sit down.

Xu Qingmeng sat carefully on the stool, extending her wrist, still hoping that the child would be safe and sound. The doctor gently placed his fingers on her pulse, and after a moment, his brow furrowed slightly.

"Doctor, how is it?" Xu Qingmeng asked hurriedly upon seeing the situation.

The doctor glanced at her and said slowly, "The baby is fine. You just need to rest and recover."

Gu Yunyi came out of the yamen with a gloomy face.

Huang Boyang said from the side, "These are all country thugs. Usually, it's the scoundrels who contact the boss. Now we can't find out who's behind him."

In the urgency of the situation, Er Laizi was shot through the chest by Huang Boyang's arrow and died instantly.

However, the two still had some guesses about who was behind this.

Huang Boyang felt very guilty: "I suppose the Liu family had already received the news, otherwise this wouldn't have happened. I was arrogant."

After all, he had previously assured Gu Yunyi that he had made preparations in advance and would not let anything happen to Gu's restaurant.

Gu Yunyi shook his head. The constables had arrived quickly today, but losses had still been caused. It was impossible for him not to feel resentment, but he knew who to turn to for his resentment and hatred.

"It's pointless to dwell on these things now; let's think carefully about what to do next."

"I'll listen to whatever you have in mind, Brother Gu," Huang Boyang said, perking up as well.

Gu Yunyi's expression turned colder, and his tone became even more unquestionable: "We've come this far, how can we not take a piece of our flesh to make up for the suffering the Gu family has endured!"

Huang Boyang said, "Brother Gu, rest assured, there will definitely be no mishaps this time! I will personally go to the prefectural city to keep an eye on things and will not give Liu Shengming any chance to escape!"

In the afternoon, Xun Ge'er woke up, and Xu Qingmeng had someone take him back and put him on the bed, ordering him not to get out of bed.

Xun Ge'er was quite helpless. He really wanted to tell Xu Qingmeng that he had only injured his arm, not his foot, but when he saw his aunt's red eyes, he could only keep quiet.

After settling Xun Ge'er in, Xu Qingmeng went to cook.

Since I had beef at home, I decided to stew it in a pot. On the way back, I also bought an old hen to make soup, and then stir-fried a few light-flavored dishes with few seasonings.
