Jackie Chan Adventures: I, the Mirror God, Master of Fear

Chapter 55: Weakness is the original sin

Chapter 55: Weakness is the original sin.
The old man sat up from the altar.

A huge amount of righteous energy surrounded his body, igniting the fire of his life bit by bit.

This time, it was no longer a weakened version of the powerful being like Lope who was resurrected with the Rat Spell, but the real one that appeared.

A powerful man who sealed himself in a tomb nearly a thousand years ago is now revived because of some not-so-good aura.

He landed on the ground with both feet, stood up slowly, and took a stiff step forward.

There were a lot of crackling sounds in his bones.

When he took the second step, the crackling sound disappeared, the fire of his life was completely ignited, and the huge righteous energy completely filled his body, making him breathe a sigh of relief.

"Whoo~"

After his third step, he appeared at the top of Phoenix Mountain.

He looked at the surrounding scenery with some emotion in his cloudy eyes. It had been a long time since he saw such a beautiful scene.
After soaking in the scenery for a while, he set out again.

In the fourth step, his body traveled thousands of miles to the top of Mount Tai.

Holding a scepter in his hand, he walked slowly to an altar similar to a land temple.

Looking at the lonely incense stick above, I felt a little complicated for a moment.

He reached out and inserted the same incense stick into the incense burner.

He put one hand behind his back, looked into the distance and murmured, "This is the last step, but it seems to be different from what I expected."

The feeling of old age quickly disappeared, he stood up and glanced at the burnt incense stick next to the one he had lit.

"God bless you. Even if you fail, you won't fall. You've done a great job."

The wisps of green smoke from the incense vaguely outlined a human figure, which seemed to be saluting the old man.

The old man was silent for a moment, then turned around and said, "I don't blame you. It should have been this way. Things have gone astray again. Now that they've discovered you, there's not much we can do to help you. The rest is up to you."

He murmured, and a wisp of smoke drifted around the old man's ears, as if telling him something.

The old man was silent for a moment, a hint of worry in his cloudy eyes: "It's really not that simple."

"An uncontrollable balance, the seeds of revival."

The old man murmured as he took a step forward. The next moment he disappeared, leaving behind only an old voice:

"Only one last breath left, maybe I can go and correct it."

When he appeared again, he had already arrived in the human city.

The expressions on the faces of the people around me are very lively. Some are hurrying on their way, some are relieving themselves from work fatigue, and some are chatting and laughing with their loved ones or friends.

Among the high-rise buildings, numerous vehicles are shuttling on the streets and pedestrians are walking on the roadside, forming a special order that looks very popular and well-organized.

After he appeared, these people all looked at him in surprise, and then whispered and boldly discussed his clothes, the dynasty of his clothes, and even his position in the dynasty.

A smile suddenly appeared in the old man's eyes. This was the scene they wanted to see, and they wanted it to continue like this forever.

It's just a pity that the calculations clearly showed that everything was going well and that the peace could be maintained without breaking it.

However, there were still accidents.
He took a step forward, and the fluctuations of righteousness spread slightly. A trace of confusion flashed in the eyes of the onlookers, and then they seemed to lose sight of him and dispersed, going about their own business.

When I got to the intersection, I stopped at the red light.

He held the ivory tablet in one hand and looked across the street at an old woman who was also waiting for the red light, holding a wooden cane and wearing a hood.

There was some surprise in his eyes, as if he didn't understand how there could be such a powerful alien race nowadays.

After a careful perception, there were no other alien races around.

The old woman looked at him calmly, and the two of them looked at each other.

After a long time, the red light gradually turned green.

Beside the old woman, a little girl of about fourteen or fifteen bent down slightly and said softly, "Grandma, let me help you over. Don't worry."

The old woman was startled, turned her head and looked, a smile appeared on her face: "Thank you, my daughter, you are so kind."

"Of course. Respecting the elderly and loving the young is an obligation that everyone should fulfill."

The old woman walked across the street with a smile on her face, leaning on her crutches.

The old man in official robes did not move, but just stood across the street waiting.

After the girl helped the old woman to the other side, the old woman thanked her and the girl left happily.

He seemed to be happy that he had done something good.

The old woman did not leave in a hurry, but stood beside the old man: "It's great, everything is so peaceful and beautiful"

Her voice was full of emotion and seemed to carry undisguised joy.

But this joy quickly turned to sadness: "If it weren't all built on the blood of other races."

The relaxed atmosphere suddenly became tense and serious after the words were spoken.

The old man was silent for a moment, then held the ivory tablet in front of him with both hands and bowed slightly. "Tang minister Wei Zheng, I pay my respects to Senior Cat Man."

The old woman was startled, then laughed: "Hehe, I dare not call you senior. I am just a remnant soul lingering on in the conquest."

The old woman turned around and walked slowly through the metropolis.

Not far away, a brand new red flag fluttered in the wind, faintly revealing a hint of majesty.

The old woman narrowed her cloudy eyes, stopped, and then slowly walked through the bustling area.

"Do you know why I came?"

Wei Zheng nodded silently: "I know. I'm thinking about how to stop you, or whether to agree to your conditions." The old woman was stunned and sighed: "We just want to live, is there anything wrong with that?"

"That's right, no one said you were wrong."

"That"

Wei Zheng was silent, and a trace of reminiscence appeared in his eyes. He seemed to see a man in an imperial robe, saying something.

His memories shattered. He turned around, looking into the old woman's dead gaze and said calmly, "We were wrong, and there's no going back on this mistake. When that possibility was grasped by the First Emperor two thousand years ago, or perhaps even an earlier emperor, and began to act, it was too late."

"From that time on, there were only positions between us, racial positions."

The deadness in the old woman's eyes grew even more intense, and there was no longer any hope in her voice: "Do you know why I came?"

This is the second time I've asked this question.

But Wei Zheng's tone remained calm: "I know. You've failed at the third point by threatening, stalling for time, and trying to convince me to let you go."

"This is the capital of Shenzhou. In the past, the capital was in Hong Kong, where the Fire Lord's palace was located." The old woman looked at the busy streets and said calmly, "If this city is buried with me, I won't lose anything."

"No." Wei Zheng shook his head: "If you do this, it won't be you who will be buried with you, but your entire clan."

"Is there any difference?"

"Yes." Wei Zheng nodded and used honorifics again. "You persuaded me to ask for a promise, but I can't give up the plan on behalf of the predecessors, nor can I promise you on behalf of the descendants. I can only speak for myself. If you leave, I will no longer look for the cat people scattered around the world."

The old woman was startled, looked at Wei Zheng, and was silent for a moment.

She let out a long sigh and looked up at the sky in silence, her cloudy eyes filled with deadness: "Okay, I agree."

Wei Zheng was silent for a moment, holding the ivory tablet in both hands, bowed slightly and saluted.

The old woman looked at Wei Zheng and thought of many things.

Six thousand years ago, the human race was already the most powerful. At that time, the two races were allies, intermarrying and cooperating with each other. Although it looked more like the cat people were dependent on the human race, for the cat people, those were rare days of peace.

When did it start to change?

It seemed as if an orc came to the cat people, dissected the history in front of them, and told them about the ambitions of the human race along the way.

The angels were annihilated, the elves were annihilated, and the sea creatures were annihilated.
One race after another disappeared from the world.

There are no more unicorns in the forest, no more elemental elves singing joyfully, and the mermaids' beautiful singing can no longer be heard on the sea.

If the orcs are gone, then if the human race turns its attention to these subordinate races, then it seems that all of them will die.
So, they began to call for an end to the war and strongly demanded rest and recuperation.

But perhaps God didn't want the war to stop, the shadow came, and an even more brutal war began.

The cat warriors are getting younger and younger, and they smile less and less.

But everyone firmly believes that even a powerful person will know the cruelty of war after experiencing the brutal war of shadows.

Then came the coming of God, which brought five hundred years of peace.

In these five hundred years, the cat people's faces showed their long-lost smiles.

She looked at the sun in the sky.
It’s a pity that the sun eventually fell with the shadow.

But unexpectedly, the war did not begin, and the remaining races all felt that perhaps true peace could finally come.

But this kind of peace seems particularly false.

Another war has begun, and it is even more massive than the one a thousand years ago.

The vast human civilization collapsed in the war, and the race that showed a brief period of peace was defeated, but what stood up again was a cruel, iron-blooded and powerful empire.

It quickly defeated the orcs, slaughtered them all, and then turned its attention to them.
The old woman sighed deeply: "I actually understand, everyone understands."

"Weakness is the original sin"

"We have never been able to influence the world with our own strength. We have always been passive."

She murmured softly, looked at Wei Zheng who was still unable to bow, and smiled: "Oh, although it seems a little unlikely, I hope you can keep your promise."

After she finished speaking, she slowly lowered her head, and the breath in her body continued to decrease until it disappeared.

Wei Zheng slowly raised his head, straightened his back, and with a wave of force, he carried the old woman's body, took a step, and disappeared, leaving the bustling city.

When he appeared again, he had arrived at the foot of Mount Tai.

They found a pit and put the old woman in it, and the pit filled up automatically.

Wei Zheng sighed slightly. This cat man did have the power to destroy part of the city in his hands, but that was all.

If he didn't count the loss, Wei Zheng could kill her within three minutes.

However, Wei Zheng would not kill her at the cost of his own people. It was not worth it.

The cat man is just barely surviving, why should he go and catch him himself?
Feeling the weakening of his balance, Wei Zheng fell silent for a moment and looked towards the west where the king's aura was still gushing out.

Wei Zheng took a step forward.

disappear.

Now that the internal troubles have been solved, it is time to deal with the external troubles.

and
Everything that was originally calculated was off. What awakened him was indeed the aura of the king.

But there is more of this offset.

Wasn't it just for this moment that he lay down in that cemetery?

Sorry, I got up a little late. I'll be back this morning tomorrow (Big Orange scratching his head JPG)
