Chapter 29 The Secret of the Nuclear Power Plant 1
Su Wanqing turned from the window and looked at Lin Che and Xiao Ran. Time passed very slowly within the spatial shelter, but they couldn't stay here for too long.

"We need more information," she said, "about the Institute, about the Element Holder, about the so-called gateway."

Xiao Ran nodded and took out a waterproof bag from his backpack. "Speaking of which, I have something to show you."

He carefully opened the bag and pulled out some crumpled papers and a cell phone.

"I got the information from an old comrade. He said the answer might be in the nuclear power plant."

"Nuclear power plant?" Lin Che frowned. "Which nuclear power plant?"

"The one in the northern suburbs," Xiao Ran replied, "about forty kilometers from here."

Su Wanqing walked over and sat across from Xiao Ran. "Why a nuclear power plant?"

Xiao Ran was about to respond when the space suddenly vibrated slightly. Su Wanqing immediately checked her jade bracelet, which read, "An SSS-level potential target has been detected approaching."

"There's someone outside," Su Wanqing said vigilantly, "a very powerful psychic."

Lin Che and Xiao Ran immediately stood up, ready for battle. Ding Ding was awakened by the noise and looked at them in horror.

"Don't worry," Su Wanqing comforted, "We are safe in this space."

She walked to the edge of the space and opened a viewing window. Outside was the gas station parking lot. A man in a black windbreaker stood there, as if searching for something.

"Who is that?" Xiao Ran asked, standing behind Su Wanqing.

"I don't know," Su Wanqing replied, "but the jade bracelet shows that he is a potential SSS-level target."

"Wait," Lin Che said suddenly, her voice trembling. "I know him. That's Lu Zhao."

"Lu Zhao?" Su Wanqing turned to look at Lin Che. "Who is he?"

Lin Che's expression became complicated. "He's the institute's chief physicist and the youngest physics professor at Tsinghua. He's in charge of theoretical research on elemental channels."

"Is he an enemy or a friend?" Xiao Ran asked, his hand already on the gun.

Lin Che shook her head. "I'm not sure. He's quite kind to us experimental subjects. At least not as cruel as the other researchers."

Su Wanqing thought for a moment. "The jade bracelet marked him as a potential target, which means he might be useful to us."

"Or he might be dangerous," Xiao Ran warned, "No one in the institute is trustworthy."

"I agree to remain vigilant," Su Wanqing said, "but if he really knows something, this could be our chance."

She turned to Lin Che. "If we talked to him, how do you think he would react?"

Lin Che hesitated. "Professor Lu is a complicated person. He has his doubts about the experiment, but he never openly opposes it. He sometimes secretly brings us some food and water."

"Then let's observe first," Su Wanqing decided, "to see what he's here for."

Through the observation window, they saw Lu Zhao walking around the parking lot, seemingly looking for traces.

He squatted down to examine some water marks on the ground, then stood up and looked around.

Suddenly, Lu Zhao turned in their direction, as if looking directly at the observation window.

His lips moved as if he were speaking.

"What did he say?" Xiao Ran asked.

Lin Che stared at Lu Zhao's lips. "He said, 'I know you're there. I need help.'"

Su Wanqing looked at Xiao Ran. "What do you think?"

Xiao Ran's expression was serious. "It could be a trap."

"It could also be an opportunity," Su Wanqing said, "We need information, and he seems to have the answers we need."

She looked at Lin Che. "You know him best. Do you think we should show up?"

Lin Che bit her lower lip, thinking. "If Professor Lu really wanted to hurt us, he could have just brought the institute's security personnel. He's alone, and that's very important to me."

Su Wanqing nodded. "Okay, I'll go out and talk to him. You stay here and protect Ding Ding. If there's any danger, I'll return immediately."

Xiao Ran shook his head in dissatisfaction. "It's too risky. I'll go with you." "No," Su Wanqing said firmly. "If we both go out, Lin Che might not be able to protect Ding Ding alone. And I have spatial abilities, so I can escape back at any time."

Xiao Ran thought about it for a moment and nodded reluctantly. "Five minutes. If you don't come back in five minutes, I'm leaving."

Su Wanqing agreed. She walked to the edge of the space, took a deep breath, and then lightly touched the jade bracelet.

A small hole appeared on the wall of space, and Su Wanqing walked out.

The air outside was damp and cold, and a light rain was falling. Lu Zhao stood there with his hands in the pockets of his windbreaker.

He was not surprised to see Su Wanqing appear, but just nodded.

"Su Wanqing, I guess." His voice was calm, with a sense of precision unique to scholars.

"You are Lu Zhao," Su Wanqing said. "Lin Che told me. What do you want?"

Lu Zhao looked around. "It's not safe here. Can we go to a more private place to talk?"

"Why should I trust you?" Su Wanqing asked directly.

Lu Zhao pulled a folded piece of paper from his pocket. "Because I have this."

He unfolded the paper, revealing a complex blueprint. "Confidential blueprints of a nuclear power plant. All the answers are there."

Su Wanqing didn't take the paper, but remained alert. "What's the answer?"

"About the origin of the virus," Lu Zhao said, "about the element holders, about everything that happened to you."

Su Wanqing thought for a moment. "If you want to share information, why not just say it?"

"Because some things require evidence," Lu Zhao replied, "and I believe you won't easily trust someone from a research institute, especially when there are only words."

Su Wanqing looked around to make sure there was no one else around. "We can talk in my space. But you have to hand over all your weapons first."

Lu Zhao nodded, took out a pistol and a cell phone from inside his windbreaker, and placed them on the ground.

"I have no other weapons."

Su Wanqing motioned him to step back, then picked up the weapon. After confirming that the pistol was real, she made a gesture.

"follow me."

She touched the jade bracelet lightly, and the space entrance reappeared. Lu Zhao raised his eyebrows slightly, but did not show too much surprise, and followed her into the space.

After entering the space, they saw Xiao Ran already waiting with a gun in hand, and Lin Che standing in front of Ding Ding with a nervous expression.

"Professor Lu," Lin Che said softly.

Lu Zhao saw Lin Che and nodded. "09:27. You look much better."

"I have a name," Lin Che said, his voice trembling. "Lin Che."

"Lin Che," Lu Zhao repeated, "Yes, of course."

Xiao Ran didn't put down his gun. "So, what do you want to tell us?"

Lu Zhao looked at Su Wanqing. "This space is very special. Your abilities are very powerful."

"Don't change the subject," Su Wanqing said, "You mentioned the nuclear power plant and the origin of the virus."

Lu Zhao nodded and took out a waterproof document bag from the inside of his windbreaker.

He opened the bag and pulled out a large, worn blueprint.

"This is the complete plan of the North Suburbs Nuclear Power Plant," he said, spreading the drawing on the table. "On the surface, it's just an ordinary nuclear power plant, but in fact..."

He pointed to an area at the bottom of the diagram. "There's a hidden underground laboratory here, not listed in official records."

Xiao Ran walked closer, but remained alert. "What kind of laboratory?"
