Chapter 38 Unfinished Experimental Report
The car drove into the residential complex where the safe house was located, and the four people got out with serious expressions.

"We need to analyze this information as soon as possible." Lu Zhao said, hugging the backpack containing the documents tightly.

After entering the safe house, Xiao Ran immediately checked the security of the room to ensure that no one had invaded.

Su Wanqing used her spatial ability to set up an invisible barrier around the room.

"Okay, now we can check those files safely." Su Wanqing said.

Lu Zhao put his backpack on the table and took out the thick folder.

The big words "Biological Reset Plan - Final Phase" came into view, and Lu Zhao's hands trembled slightly.

“Let’s start from the beginning,” Lin Che suggested.

Lu Zhao nodded and turned to the first page. The signature of project leader Elizabeth Lu appeared in front of everyone again.

"Is this your wife's signature?" Su Wanqing asked softly.

Lu Zhao was silent for a moment before speaking with difficulty: "Yes. But I don't understand why she would be involved in such a plan?"

Xiao Ran frowned: "Maybe she was also kept in the dark."

Lu Zhao didn't respond and continued flipping through the report. The second page was a plan overview. He slowly read out the contents: "The Biological Reset Project aims to create humans with special elemental affinities through genetic engineering to open an interdimensional passage. The energies of the seven elemental holders—water, fire, earth, wind, metal, wood, and thunder—combine to form a complete key."

"This sounds like some crazy science fiction," said Su Wanqing.

Lin Che shook her head. "Unfortunately, this is true. Xiao Ran's sister and I are the product of this plan."

Lu Zhao continued reading: "Currently, four element holders have been obtained."

He paused. "This report should have been written before you were arrested."

Xiao Ran clenched his fists: "Then there are still two element holders who have not been found."

"Who holds the seventh element?" Su Wanqing asked.

Lu Zhao turned to the next page: "It says here that the holder of the seventh element is to be confirmed."

Lin Che leaned in to examine the report. "Let me see if I can restore some of the erased content."

He stretched out his hand, and a drop of blue liquid oozed from his fingertips, which he carefully dripped onto the blackened part.

The blue liquid slowly seeped into the paper, and the erased text gradually appeared.

“It says here: ‘The holder of the seventh element may be related to the origin of the plan, and further investigation and confirmation is required.’” Lin Che read out the recovered content.

Lu Zhao's expression grew more serious. "What does this mean? The origin of the plan. Is there a deeper secret?"

Su Wanqing noticed Lu Zhao's abnormality and asked softly, "Are you okay?"

Lu Zhao shook his head: "I just find it hard to accept all this. I thought we were doing research that would benefit mankind, but now it seems..."

"Let's keep watching." Xiao Ran said, "Maybe we can find more clues."

Lu Zhao nodded and turned to the next page. This page detailed the selection criteria and capture methods for element holders.

"This is too cruel." Su Wanqing looked at those cold records, her voice trembling slightly.

Lin Che pointed to a paragraph of text and said, "Look here. They have developed a special serum that can change the human genetic structure and enhance elemental affinity."

"Is this what they did to us?" Xiao Ran asked with anger in his tone.

Lu Zhao nodded silently and continued reading. Suddenly, his expression became more serious. "It mentions failure cases. They call those whose experiments failed 'mutants.'"

"It's the predecessor of those monsters outside." Lin Che added.

Su Wanqing frowned: "Did they just abandon the failed experiment?"

Lu Zhao shook his head. "No, it's worse. The report shows that they are using these variants as new research subjects, trying to get more data from them."

There was a brief silence in the room as everyone digested this horrible truth.

Xiao Ran broke the silence: "We must stop this crazy plan."

Lu Zhao continued to flip through the pages, reaching the last section of the report. His face suddenly turned pale. "It says here that once the full moon ceremony is ready and the passage is opened, the plan will enter its final phase—a two-way biological reset." "What does a two-way biological reset mean?" Lin Che asked.

Lu Zhao shook his head. "The report didn't explain it in detail. But it doesn't sound like a good thing."

Lu Zhao took a deep breath and said, "I am beginning to suspect that I may have been involved in a horrific conspiracy. I always thought that what we were doing was for the future of mankind, but now..."

"It's not your fault that you don't know these things." Su Wanqing comforted.

Lu Zhao smiled bitterly: "But I was involved. Even if it was unintentional, I can't escape the blame."

Xiao Ran stood up: "Now is not the time to blame ourselves. We need to find a way to stop this plan."

Lin Che nodded: "Xiao Ran is right. We should focus on finding more clues."

Lu Zhao took a deep breath and tried to calm down: "You are right."

He turned to the next page, which recorded a series of experimental data and charts.

"These data show the activation process of elemental abilities," Lu Zhao explained. "It looks like they're trying different methods to enhance their abilities."

Lin Che pointed at one of the graphs and said, "This curve is very strange. It shows that after the ability increases to a certain critical point, it will drop sharply."

"Maybe this is why mutants appear." Su Wanqing speculated.

Lu Zhao nodded: "It's very likely. If the ability gets out of control, it will lead to genetic collapse."

Xiao Ran frowned: "Then, how do they control this process?"

Lu Zhao turned to the next page. "It mentions a stabilizer. It can keep the energy at a safe level when it reaches its peak."

“It’s like installing a speed limiter on the engine,” Lin Che said.

Lu Zhao continued reading, then suddenly stopped: "This is impossible."

"What's wrong?" Su Wanqing asked.

Lu Zhao's voice trembled slightly: "The report mentioned that they are looking for a way to transfer biological characteristics between different dimensions."

"What does this mean?" Xiao Ran asked.

Lin Che pondered, "Could it be that they want to exchange the characteristics of creatures from different dimensions?"

Lu Zhao nodded. "It seems so. They call it 'interdimensional biological reset'."

The room fell silent again, everyone pondering the possible consequences of this shocking discovery.

Su Wanqing broke the silence: "What will happen if they succeed?"

Lu Zhao shook his head. "I don't know. But what is certain is that this will completely change everything we know."

Xiao Ran stood up and began pacing back and forth: "We must stop them. No matter what the cost."

Lin Che nodded: "I agree. But we need a plan."

Lu Zhao closed the report and took a deep breath. "First, we need to find the holders of the last two elements in their plan. If we can prevent them from gathering all seven elements, perhaps we can stop the entire plan."

Su Wanqing looked at Lin Che: "Can you sense other element holders?"

Lin Che closed her eyes and concentrated, "I can sense some faint fluctuations, but they're not clear enough. I need to get closer."

Xiao Ran paused. "Then, our next step is to find other element holders. At the same time, we need more information about this plan."

Lu Zhao nodded: "I can try to contact some of my former colleagues, maybe I can get some inside information."

Su Wanqing looked at the time: "It's almost dawn. We should take a break and then make a detailed plan."

The others agreed with the suggestion. Lu Zhao carefully locked the report in the safe, and Xiao Ran checked the safety of the room again.

"I'll guard the first night." Lin Che offered.
