Chapter 51 Select Channel Direction 2
"It's a bit steep, but manageable," Lin Che replied. "There seems to be an exit below. I can see a faint light."

"The sound behind us is getting closer." Xiao Ran lowered his voice nervously, "We have to speed up."

"I'm going down." Lin Che took a deep breath, then let go and slid down the slope.

Su Wanqing heard a muffled sound, and then Lin Che's voice: "It's okay, come down, there's a small platform here."

Su Wanqing bit her lip and slid down as well. The slope was even steeper than she had imagined. She slid down almost like a free fall, finally crashing into Lin Che's arms.

"Are you okay?" Lin Che asked with concern, helping her to stand firmly.

"I'm fine." Su Wanqing dusted herself off and looked around.

It was indeed a small platform, surrounded by smooth metal walls and with a round hatch directly in front.

Lu Zhao and Xiao Ran slid down closely behind him. The four of them stood in this small space, staring at the hatch.

"It looks like the entrance to some kind of maintenance tunnel," Lu Zhao analyzed, carefully examining the markings on the hatch. "There are no obvious warning signs, so it shouldn't be a high-risk area."

Lin Che walked forward and gently pressed the button next to the hatch. To everyone's surprise, the hatch slowly slid open.

"The system is still running?" Su Wanqing asked in surprise.

"It might be an independent power supply system." Lu Zhao speculated, "This facility is more complicated than we imagined."

When the hatch was fully opened, a narrow passage was revealed, at the end of which a wider space could be vaguely seen.

"I'll go ahead." Xiao Ran whispered, pulling out the short knife he carried with him, "Be prepared to encounter danger at any time."

The four of them moved forward cautiously along the passage. The passage was not long and they soon reached the end.

In front of me was a spacious control room with walls covered with various display screens and operating panels. Most of them were turned off, and only a few screens were still flashing faint lights.

"What is this place?" Su Wanqing looked around curiously.

Lu Zhao walked to the central console and tapped the keyboard. The screen immediately lit up: "This should be a backup control center, probably set up to deal with emergencies."

Lin Che noticed a small medical station in the corner. "It looks like this place is designed for long-term garrisoning. It even has simple medical equipment."

Xiao Ran checked the exits: "There are three exits here, which should lead to different areas. We need to determine which way is the safest."

Lu Zhao quickly operated on the keyboard, and a partial plan of the nuclear power plant appeared on the screen: "There is actually an independent database here, which may contain the information we need."

"Look for any information related to the 'Biological Reset Plan'." Su Wanqing suggested, walking to Lu Zhao's side.

Lu Zhao's hands moved quickly on the keyboard, and various files and charts kept flashing on the screen: "The system is set up with multiple encryptions, but I am familiar with the encryption method of this model."

Lin Che searched the room and suddenly found a stack of paper documents in a drawer. "Everyone, look at this. It's an experimental log."

Xiao Ran walked over, picked up the file, and quickly glanced at it: "This is a record of some kind of biological experiment, dated three months before the virus outbreak. It mentions 'mutation factors' and 'gene recombination', and it seems that they are studying how to change human genes."

Su Wanqing's heart tightened: "This is consistent with the information we found before. They have been planning to release the virus for a long time."

"Found it!" Lu Zhao suddenly shouted. An encrypted folder appeared on the screen, which might be the core information of the 'Biological Reset Project'.

Just as Lu Zhao was trying to crack the encryption, Xiao Ran suddenly pricked up his ears: "There are footsteps coming from over there."

He pointed to the exit on the left. "At least three people. They seem to be a patrol."

"We have to hurry." Su Wanqing said nervously.

Lu Zhao's fingers flew across the keyboard: "Give me another minute, I need to copy this data."

Lin Che took out a small device and connected it to the computer. "Use this, my specially made data copier. It's much faster." Lu Zhao nodded, took the device and plugged it into the port. The screen showed that the data transfer progress increased rapidly.

"The footsteps are getting closer!" Xiao Ran warned in a low voice, ready for battle.

"30 seconds!" Lu Zhao stared at the screen. The transmission progress had reached 70%.

Su Wanqing stood at the door, ready to activate her spatial ability to protect everyone at any time.

She could feel her heartbeat as loud as a drum, and beads of sweat oozed from her palms.

Time passed second by second, the footsteps were getting closer and closer, and the transmission progress finally reached 100%.

"Done!" Lu Zhao quickly pulled out the storage device and tossed it to Lin Che. "Let's go!"

"Which way?" Su Wanqing asked nervously.

Xiao Ran pointed to the exit on the right: "The sound comes from the left, let's go to the right."

The four of them quickly moved towards the exit on the right. Before leaving, Lu Zhao pressed a button and the screen immediately went black, returning to the state it was in when they came in.

The right exit leads to a long and narrow corridor with closed doors on both sides.

They moved forward quickly, looking for a possible escape route.

"The map shows that this corridor leads to a supply storage room, where there should be an exit to the outside." Lu Zhao said in a low voice.

At the end of the hallway was indeed a large storage room, filled with boxes of various equipment and supplies.

Xiao Ran quickly scanned the room and found a small door marked "Emergency Exit".

"There!" Xiao Ran pointed to the small door, "It should lead to the outside world."

The four of them quickly moved towards the small door. Lin Che tried to pull the door handle, but the door didn't budge.

"It's locked." Lin Che frowned.

"Let me do it." Lu Zhao stepped forward to check the lock mechanism. "It's an electronic lock, but it seems to have a backup mechanical unlocking system."

"I heard their voices, right in the corridor." Xiao Ran warned, "We have to hurry."

Lu Zhao took out a small tool from his pocket, inserted it into a small hole next to the keyhole, and turned it gently.

The mechanical unlocking system made a slight click, and the door handle came loose.

"Hurry!" Lu Zhao pushed open the door and saw a staircase leading upwards outside.

The four of them quickly entered the stairwell and closed the door behind them. The staircase was narrow and steep, extending straight up, with a faint light faintly visible at the top.

"It might lead to the surface." Lin Che said, "We're finally getting out."

Su Wanqing took a deep breath and climbed up the stairs with everyone.

Although they still didn't know what was at the end of the stairs, at least they had left the dangerous control center with important new information.

As they continued to climb, a fresh smell began to appear in the air, which gave the four people more hope.

At the end of the stairs was an iron door. Xiao Ran carefully pushed it open a crack and looked out.
