Chapter 28 The sacrifice begins

The strong man looked at the body of his fallen companion and spoke tremblingly.

“We are just a small mountain village.”

Lin Yao said nothing, pressed Qing Feng down a little, and the sharp sword cut his skin.

"I'm telling you, this is one of the bases of Lanruo Temple, specifically responsible for transferring good family members."

Lin Yao was slightly stunned.

"Oops."

The strong man fell down and Lin Yao rushed outside.

Nie Xiaoqian might have been sent to Lanruo Temple now.

Just as he rushed out of the yard, the priest stood before him.

"Mr. Ning, where are you going?"

Qing Feng moved forward, and a black shadow appeared in front of Lin Yao.

The sword pierced the flesh, but the black shadow still blocked his way.

"Mr. Ning, you should rest early. Don't worry about Xiaoqian's whereabouts."

Lin Yao drew out the Qingfeng sword, and when he wanted to attack again, his body lost consciousness.

"Something was put into the clothes you changed. It started working when you woke up."

The priest walked up to him, padding his palm with a silk scarf, and pinched Lin Yao's chin.

"As for agreeing to your request, I was just too lazy to put in the effort. I didn't expect you to find out."

After she finished speaking, she threw the scarf on Lin Yao's face.

"Take him back, change him into sacrificial attire, and prepare him."

In the small courtyard, the two strong men who had just been killed by Lin Yao walked out.

Blood was still flowing from their necks, and their pupils had turned pure white.

Only then did Lin Yao see clearly that the black shadow in front of him was the peddler from last night.

“No wonder these people wore masks on their faces during the sacrifice.”

They are dead!

Lin Yao sat on the bed, being manipulated like a statue.

His body had been changed into sacrificial clothes, and the moment the metal mask was covered on his face, Lin Yao felt it sticking to his skin.

It felt like something had penetrated into my skin.

Fateweaving and the curse began to throb again.

Lin Yao sat there quietly, since the deity enshrined here was the Weaver Girl.

Perhaps he could borrow the power of the Weaver Girl to rescue Nie Xiaoqian.

"You must wait for me."

On the way into the city, Nie Xiaoqian couldn't help but shiver.

These men in the village who serve the priests have always been mysterious.

They always wore masks when they appeared, and no one in the village had ever seen their true faces.

"Brother, where are we going?"

Nie Xiaoqian hesitated for a moment, but still opened her mouth to ask.

"The priest said that you have been in contact with that scholar for a few days and have been tainted with bad luck. He wants to send you to a place."

After hearing this, Nie Xiaoqian always felt that something was wrong, but when she thought of Lin Yao's words, she didn't think about it anymore.

The few of them walked forward and arrived at the gate of Lanruo Temple.

Seeing that it was a temple, Nie Xiaoqian's somewhat panicked heart calmed down.

"Was this delivered?"

The temple door opened and a monk walked out, looking Nie Xiaoqian up and down.

The latter felt a little uncomfortable with his gaze.

"Ah."

"You guys go back."

The man turned and left without saying anything.

"Come in with me."

The monk took Nie Xiaoqian into Lanruo Temple, and she looked around secretly.

The environment in the temple is fresh and elegant, with the sounds of chanting and wooden fish ringing in the ears. The incense smoke is quite pleasant.

Seeing this, Nie Xiaoqian completely relaxed, thinking that the Priestess must have asked her to practice meditation here for a few days.

The two of them walked all the way to the Zen room.

"Rest here first. The temple will hold a blissful banquet for you in the evening."

"Sorry to trouble you, Master."

Nie Xiaoqian clasped her hands together, bowed to the monk, and walked into the meditation room.

"I hope everything is well, young master."

She muttered to herself.

The monk waited for her to close the door, locked it, and then walked to the secret room behind the main hall with ease.

"Bodhisattva, someone has been sent over from the village." Lanruo Bodhisattva was looking at the scriptures at this time and asked.

"Is Ning Caichen not back yet?"

"No, the person who came back said that he was beaten and crippled and was rescued by a woman. That woman is the one who was brought here today."

Bodhisattva Lanruo paused and looked up at the monk.

He smiled.

"Take me to see that woman."

In the Zen room.

Nie Xiaoqian was sitting at the table. For some reason, she always felt a little uneasy.

"Miss, I am the abbot of Lanruo Temple."

The sudden voice brought Nie Xiaoqian back to her senses.

When he looked up, a monk in a cassock was standing in front of him.

She quickly stood up and saluted.

"Grandmaster."

"Is the priest all right?"

"The Priestess is very good."

Nie Xiaoqian pursed her lips and spoke cautiously.

"Master, can you please ask the Priestess for a favor?"

Bodhisattva Lanruo smiled slightly and motioned Nie Xiaoqian to sit down.

"Tell me what's going on?"

The two sat opposite each other, and Nie Xiaoqian told him the whole story.

"Leave this matter to me. Young lady, please prepare. I invite Master Ning to come and watch the ceremony tonight."

Nie Xiaoqian was happy to hear that Bodhisattva Lanruo had agreed, but when she heard that Ning Caichen would also be coming, she couldn't help but feel nervous.

As if seeing what was on her mind, Bodhisattva Lanruo asked.

"Is the young lady interested in Mr. Ning?"

Nie Xiaoqian, whose thoughts were revealed, lowered her head with blushing cheeks. Lanruo Bodhisattva's words made her face her own thoughts.

When she brought Lin Yao back to the small mountain village, she was somewhat attracted to him, coupled with the communication between the two during the sacrifice that night.

She was indeed a little moved by Lin Yao.

"Don't worry, I will make you show your best side at the banquet tonight."

"Thank you, Master."

Nie Xiaoqian stood up and saluted again, but she felt it was a bit strange to let the monk act as a matchmaker.

But she didn't think much about it, just thinking that the abbot was kind-hearted and wanted to help her.

"Have a good rest. I will take my leave now."

"Master, walk slowly."

After leaving the meditation room, Bodhisattva Lanruo instructed the young monk beside him.

"Go to the small mountain village and bring Ning Caichen back."

The monk took the order and left. Lanruo Bodhisattva walked into the main hall, and the monks in the temple bowed their heads and recited scriptures.

He looked up at the golden Buddha statue and waved his sleeves lightly.

A corpse fell from the beam and hung in the center of the hall.

That was Lin Yao's face.

Bodhisattva Lanruo clasped his hands together and spoke softly.

"Amitabha."

Night falls.

Bonfires were lit again in the mountain village.

The priest looked at the monk in front of him with a calm expression.

"After the sacrifice is over, you take the person away."

The monk wanted to say something, but when he saw the two big men standing behind the priest, he swallowed the words that were about to come out of his mouth.

"It all depends on the priest's arrangement."

"Master, would you mind watching the ceremony together?"

The priest put on a mask, and the monk had no choice but to follow her.

Beside the campfire, Lin Yao was being held by two men and standing there.

He looked at the villagers in front of him.

The previous kindness and friendliness have disappeared, replaced by indifference and hatred.

They looked at Lin Yao quietly, with only the crackling of the bonfire.

The priest walked up to him and spoke loudly to everyone.

"Everyone, it was this person who angered the goddess. Today, I will reopen the sacrifice and offer him as a sacrifice to the goddess!"
