Chapter 45: The most mind-bending episode.

Just as the others were about to leave together, Zheng Zha called out, "Wait!"

I knew you would say that...

Zheng Zha pointed to one of the thugs lying unconscious on the ground. This was the only one left; apart from a broken leg, he was otherwise unharmed. He looked at Mu Xiang: "With your fighting ability, if we take him along, it won't have much of an impact, right?"

Chu Xuan turned to Zheng Zha and said, "I object to this. Apart from Mu Xiang, no one can escape unscathed from the aliens' attack, let alone three or four aliens."

"So we're just going to leave him here to fend for himself, to be devoured alive by the aliens that come back?" Zheng Zha retorted. "We're a team! We can take care of each other and protect the others!"

Mu Xiang nodded and turned to look at Zheng Zha: "I can indeed do it... then I'll take him with me."

Chu Xuan adjusted his glasses.

Whether from blood loss or shock, the thug remained unconscious even as Mu Xiang dragged him along. Mu Xiang brought up the rear of the group, watching the others ahead. The reason he was carrying this burden himself was that if Zheng Zha had been in charge, Zheng Zha would definitely have treated the thug's wounds.

But now that Zheng Zha has been moved to the front of the group to clear the way, he has forgotten about it.

There's no point in dealing with it; Mu Xiang isn't a good person like Zheng Zha who would want to save anyone who's pitiful.

Mu Xiang and Chu Xuan quickly figured out the spaceship's layout using the communication devices inside the various rooms. Their target was clear: room number twenty-seven, marked in red on all the communicators—that should be the main control room!
On the way, Chu Xuan also talked about topics such as gene lock, and Mu Xiang would occasionally chime in to add to the discussion, which left everyone feeling both confused and impressed. Chu Xuan's gaze towards Mu Xiang also took on a deeper meaning.

Zhang Jie couldn't help but whisper to Mu Xiang, "It's one thing for this mad scientist to talk about these things, but how come you know so much about them too?"

Mu Xiang continued his nonsense: "You haven't read enough books, have you? That biography introduces Chu Xuan's scientific achievements. He won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his research on gene lock."

Zhang Jie looked embarrassed. Just as he was about to explain, Zero said coldly, "Perhaps the gene lock you're talking about does exist, but can we go any faster? I have a feeling that something is following us. Although it's still far away, the sense of danger is still very obvious."

Overlord agreed in a deep voice, "That's right, it's a very threatening aura. I'm sure it's an alien."

All the veterans were armed, and Mu Xiang had already given each of Chu Xuan and his two companions a grenade. Logically speaking, even if they encountered the aliens, they should be able to fight as a group.

Just as the others shouted for alert, the life detector sounded an alarm, and two more aliens appeared not far behind them. It seemed they had been following them for a long time, and had judged the distance perfectly, creating an opportunity to ambush them.

Chu Xuan and his two companions quickly spotted the alien behind them. Without hesitation, they threw grenades backward and ran for their lives. Zheng Zha and the alien that attacked him were on the other side. At this point, running around the corner was no problem, and reaching the control room would be no issue at all.

As expected.

Out of the corner of his eye, Mu Xiang saw a greatsword appear in Li Xiaoyi's hand, and then... he sheathed the greatsword and ran away.

Seeing the grenade flying towards him, Zhang Jie shouted "Watch out!" and ran forward.

Mu Xiang pushed Zhan Lan away and drew his knife from his left wrist. Three grenades landed near the alien's feet, exploding into three puffs of yellow smoke before falling silent. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the smoke wasn't smoke, but rather yellow foam. The foam exploded, binding one of the alien's legs, rendering it immobile. Seeing Mu Xiang sharpening his knife, another alien, only slightly covered in foam, screeched and lunged forward.

Mu Xiang drew his sword, forcing it back, then twisted his wrist, turning the blade directly at the still struggling alien. The alien suddenly opened its mouth, striking the high-frequency cutting blade in mid-air. This strike missed the blade, but it caused the high-frequency cutting blade to pause momentarily, the forcefully stopping the vibration immediately losing its power, and sliding past the alien's exoskeleton.

Mu Xiang didn't bother to brandish the knife again. He simply shouted, his left fist clenched, ripples shimmering on it, and he punched the alien's chin, sending it reeling backward. A tremendous force followed, and Mu Xiang felt a sharp pain in his left waist. He rolled to the side and saw the other alien retract its tail. Clearly, the previous blow had been a piercing stab from the tail. Luckily, his exoskeleton had shielded him; otherwise, such a vulnerable spot would have been excruciatingly painful for Mu Xiang.

With a flick of his left wrist, the M41A pulse rifle appeared in his left hand, and Mu Xiang pulled the trigger. The alien in front of him was suppressed by the firepower and darted to the other side, but its exoskeleton still shattered with several bullet holes. Just then, Mu Xiang tilted his head back, dodging an attack from another tongue.

[That was close! Getting hit isn't a big deal though.]

From his perspective, that ugly tongue with its small mouth stretched out in front of him. He had only managed to dodge that attack by anticipation; otherwise, even through the exoskeleton armor, he would have been stunned if hit in the head or neck. His lightning-fast reflexes combined with his prior awareness allowed him to barely avoid it. But doing something without absolute certainty still made Mu Xiang break out in a cold sweat.

However, Mu Xiang was not stunned by this. He raised his right hand, which was already gripping the knife handle, and split the tongue, which had shrunk halfway, in two.

Then he used his right shoulder to take the brunt of the alien's claw attack, which was driven mad by pain, and shoved the gun into its wide-open mouth.

The U1 pump-action grenade launcher mounted under the M41A was activated, and a thermite grenade was launched into the alien's mouth without any fancy moves. Then Mu Xiang pulled out his gun.

A temperature of 2500℃ erupted from its mouth, the blinding light making Mu Xiang think the creature had turned into a street lamp. The alien couldn't even twitch; the instantaneous heat charred its entire head. Scorching flames erupted from the back of its head; had it not been for the limitations of its exoskeleton, it would have burned several more holes.

It never managed to escape from the thick foam sealant until it died.

This is really mind-bending.

Upon hearing the notification from the main god, Mu Xiang looked at the floor. The thug he had thrown on the ground earlier was nowhere to be seen, and the other alien had also fled. Aliens seemed to be fearless creatures, but their limited intelligence could help them make the right choices.

For example, they prioritized completing the task of racial reproduction. So, when faced with Mu Xiang, a tough opponent, the remaining one chose to take away the thugs who could be used as materials.

This scoundrel's mission is complete. As a newcomer who doesn't listen to advice and lacks both morality and ability, Mu Xiang has designed the most engaging task for him.

Aliens can communicate with each other. Mu Xiang's earlier instant kill of one was due to his weapon advantage and the alien's lack of knowledge about his strength. But to think he could be so easily defeated afterward is a joke. Although the alien couldn't cause him any real damage while wearing an exoskeleton, he could still escape if he wanted to.

The aliens aren't entirely stupid; knowing Mu Xiang's strength, they won't rashly come to their deaths. To lure them in, you need to offer something to attract them… like humans reeking of blood. And after assessing their strength—one tough opponent versus eight living people—they'll likely gather around, presenting a good opportunity to reduce their numbers.

However, they actually tried to surround and kill him from both sides, which Mu Xiang hadn't expected.

"Can you hear me? My guess was right, they really are unreliable. If I gave them real grenades, Zhan Lan and I would become the rearguard meat shields," Mu Xiang said into the headset, scoffing, "All you need to do is run faster than your teammates, a despicable but very effective method."

"Speaking of which, Zheng Zha, you're still not very familiar with using the built-in life detector, otherwise you shouldn't have been successfully attacked..."

"Zheng Zha?"
