Infinite Terror: Infinite Reversal

Chapter 78 Author's Note

Chapter 78 Author's Note (I suppose so)

Since this was my first time writing a web novel, I didn't know what to pay attention to after signing a contract and before it was published... Before I knew it, I had written 200,000 words during the second round of recommendations, and it automatically dropped out of the new book chart. I was quite surprised when I suddenly realized that I had disappeared from the top ten of "Infinite Heavens" (laughs).

First, I'd like to apologize to all the readers who have been following the story. According to the regulations, releasing non-VIP chapters after signing a contract is considered a break in updates… I'm a student and wanted to maintain my attendance record, so I had to split the second half of the Ju-on arc into the VIP volume. If this significantly impacts your reading experience and causes you to abandon the book, then I can only apologize and thank you for your previous support.

I initially wrote this fanfiction about the infinite universe just for my own amusement, but I never expected it to receive so much praise and support from friends on Qidian. To be honest, achieving this level of success is quite an unexpected and delightful surprise for a new book written by a new author.

The outline of this novel was roughly finalized during my middle school years (though now it seems there's still a lot of room for revision). It was initially inspired by the novel *Infinite Terror*, and I simply wrote down my own extended imaginings. If I had to categorize it, I could call it self-indulgence, wishful thinking… well, to put it bluntly, it's essentially just the fantasy of a teenage boy. But luckily, even now, my new adult circumstances haven't changed my childish nature, and I've found the spare time to write down my past fantasies.

I actually mentioned in my interactions with readers that this is my first time writing online fiction, not a novel. In fact, this form of entertainment has been with me since childhood, which is arguably an advantage I've had navigating many different circles (laughs). So this book is more like a work of entertainment for me… but not a work I didn't take seriously. Quite the opposite, aside from academic papers and so-called "academic" novels, all my fantasies from my spare time can be put into this book; it's both a pleasure and a way of putting my heart into it.

In fact, I personally feel that the first volume of this book has significant flaws, which should deter many readers: the retention and retelling of the original setting, the protagonist's potentially unlikable psychological descriptions, and the original, impromptu plot points... all of these contribute to a bizarre volume with a total of twenty-six chapters, including the prologue. But as I said, these were originally my own personal projects, and much of what appears to be a close-knit narrative actually spans at least days, or even months or years, in terms of writing. This results in many descriptions appearing overly repetitive to someone who reads it in one sitting—a serious problem for online novels.

After Volume 3, this problem was greatly improved due to the timely writing. However, I do not intend to change the content of Volume 1, as this manuscript, which is several years old, also has special significance for me.

When I have free time and am not at my computer, I check the backend data. Seeing monthly votes, recommendations, reader engagement, and donations always gives me a smug feeling. After all, it's very rewarding for my game-based work to be recognized by fellow enthusiasts. This is different from the joy of getting first or second place in a single subject in high school, different from the GPA announcement in university, different from the happiness of having a novel published or receiving a nomination. So, I want to thank everyone again for their support. I'm so glad that my game-based work can bring you the fun of the infinite flow genre.

Those who frequently read this chapter's comments should have noticed that I often participate in discussions about the plot and exchange system, frequently arguing for ten or twenty lines. Aside from those who only read a couple of chapters and then start pointing fingers, I generally try to persuade others by addressing issues of plot and character logic. As for those unreasonable trolls, I'm too lazy to waste my time and offend everyone's eyes.

To borrow my friend's signature from high school: "I often discuss right and wrong with like-minded people, but I don't argue with anyone about who's better or worse (laughs)." When discussing with fellow enthusiasts, I try my best to offer some reasoned arguments and respond with the same sincerity as everyone else. I also hope you all enjoy reading and chatting.

Finally, I'd like to say that some of the content in the book, such as the mention of "James Shedd," is mainly due to my research on the original film and consideration of foreshadowing, not for some so-called "selection" by a genius. Seriously though, when you write a single word, conceive a sentence or paragraph, you are essentially selecting—selecting people who won't like it anyway. Besides, while authors select readers, aren't readers also selecting authors? As readers on Qidian, we have countless books to choose from, while authors often only have one book they're focused on writing. Authors can't possibly cater to everyone; it's a helpless reality. What's honey to me is poison to someone else. I know that what I like is poison to some; but the reverse is also true.

Wake up, Shennong is long dead.

Whether it's good or bad, you'll only know after you've tried it yourself.

Whether one likes or dislikes something is a subjective feeling, not a yardstick packaged as literary criticism or a standard of right and wrong.

It is a very happy thing to please readers with your own imagination; but it is very painful for a person who does literature to change his own ideas to cater to others—it feels less like writing a paper.

After all that rambling, I just wanted to share some of my thoughts and future plans with you all… In short, I will continue to work hard and use my imagination to bring the same joy to fellow enthusiasts. For those who mind my creative approach, I can only offer my thanks for your support over the past month; for those still interested in my novels, I'll decline any further support.

The product launch coincides with National Day, which is an honor; I also wish everyone a happy National Day.
