Infinite Terror: Infinite Reversal

Chapter 8 This Generation of Transmigrators

Chapter 8 This Generation of Transmigrators...

A mercenary at the front shouted, "Sir, the Red Queen has locked onto us; she knows we're here."

Mu Xiang heard Alice ask from behind, "Who is the Red Queen?"

James replied, "She is the best AI system in the country. She controls the entire Hive and is the central main computer here."

The mercenaries had already descended the stairs. Zhang Jie turned back and sneered at the panting group behind him. He shook his head and said, "Hang in there. You should thank God you're still alive. To be honest, you've been incredibly lucky. This horror movie has a very low risk factor. In fact, it's one of the few horror movies where you can solve problems with bullets. Hang in there. If you survive this horror movie, you'll get a thousand reward points to improve your physical condition."

As Mu Xiang descended the stairs, he turned back to reprimand Zhang Jie. Mu Xiang excelled at long-distance running, so this level of stair climbing wasn't difficult for him; it wasn't enough to make him pant like the new recruits behind him, only causing him slight shortness of breath. Not to mention, Mu Xiang's classroom in his first year of high school was on the fourth floor of the teaching building, so sprinting up the stairs with added weight when he was running late was definitely no easier than going down the stairs.

Mu Xiang sneered, refusing to accept Zhang Jie's mockery of the newcomer, while thinking about what dangers he might encounter later.

If nothing unexpected happens... that's probably the biggest danger we're facing right now...

Because of his previous behavior, this speculation is highly likely to come true... This is a potentially fatal danger!
The thought of it made his heart race... but he had no other choice.

This is already the least risky and most rewarding option... Even if I die, it's still more satisfying than Alien.

As the team ventured deeper, isolated laboratories gradually appeared on both sides of the corridor. These laboratories were all filled with water, and besides the water, many researchers' corpses floated in the water, a stark and horrifying sight. The members of the Reincarnation Squad knew that these researchers had been infected with the T-virus. Once the central computer was shut down, they would break free of their restraints and begin to move and eat people.

“This will slow down our operations,” said the mercenary in charge of information technology. “To get to the Red Queen, we have to go through these labs.” But clearly, the sealed and water-filled labs were simply impassable.

James nodded and said, "Rayne, J.D., check how bad the overflow is."

Upon hearing this, Rain and another mercenary, J.D., gripped their guns and walked deeper into the corridor. Rain was the female mercenary whose English name was Rain; in the original work, another translation, Rui En, was used as Spencer's name. Translating her name as Rain or Rui En sounded somewhat masculine... However, some translators even rendered her name as Xiao Yu (Little Rain), uh, quite ingenious, huh? Mu Xiang couldn't help but think of these strange topics again.

James looked at the water-filled research room and said, "Kaplan, find another way to the Red Queen... Zhang Jie, you go with them too."

[Just how outstanding is Zhang Jie...? Are they addicted to using him?]

Kaplan, the mercenary in charge of information technology, was frowning, staring at the computer screen on his arm, constantly operating something. Zhang Jie, on the other hand, waved to the newcomers nonchalantly and leisurely followed.

Once the three of them had walked away, Spencer suddenly asked, "What exactly happened here?" The others also gathered around at the sound of his voice.

James looked at everyone before saying, "About five hours ago, the Red Queen manipulated the sealing off of the entire Hive, and then used the internal defense system to start killing people... releasing poison gas, cutting off the elevators, sealing off the labs, and so on. She killed everyone in the Hive." He paused here, and Spence exclaimed, "My God!" Mu Xiang also frowned in agreement.

He added, "When the company realized something was wrong here, our team was dispatched to shut it down."

Several characters in the story were all puzzled. Alice looked up and asked, "Why would it do that?"

James shook his head and said, "We don't know either, but it could be due to external influences..."

As James was speaking, a figure gradually appeared on the glass wall Matt was leaning against. Matt turned his head to look and found that it was a corpse floating in the water. He yelled "Oh my God!" and jumped to the other side.

His hands were cuffed, which made his jump rather comical, even though he should have been dancing with joy.

Everyone was startled, and immediately pistols were pointed in their direction. Even the newcomers jumped in fright, all looking towards Matt's original spot, at the pale female corpse floating inside the glass wall. Mu Xiang didn't react as violently, but he still felt a chill when he saw it.

James and the others looked somewhat uneasy, but they quickly calmed down. Alice and Spence even started chatting and probing each other. Zheng Zha and the others, however, were terrified, their hands and feet turning cold. They might not have felt it while watching the movie, but being actually there, especially knowing that the corpse was a zombie, was a chilling experience that was indescribable to outsiders.

Mu Xiang coldly observed the reactions of these people, but his focus was actually on Li Xiaoyi, who had his back to him; the others were just a diversion. Li Xiaoyi was trembling with fear, perhaps the most terrified of all. Even from behind, you could see his hands were flailing about, unsure of what to do, and his legs were shaking uncontrollably. He looked like an ordinary high school student, though he likely knew the plot and was still frightened by what he saw.

[It's possible he's faking it... deliberately trying to appear weak in front of me? But his trembling doesn't seem as forced as it appears.]

[But Li Xiaoyi definitely has a problem; you can tell from how he observes me. If he weren't a transmigrator, there's no need for him to pay so much attention to me; if he is, his manners are just too poor… You guys are the worst batch of transmigrators I've ever mentored, pshaw, what are you thinking…]

In comparison, Mu Xiang was probably the least frightened. But he insisted on continuing to scare himself, taking a step forward quietly and examining the corpse... or rather, the zombie.

There's a saying, "When you've been single for too long, even a zombie seems handsome..." Ugh, that's a cliché. Mu Xiang cursed inwardly.

He was actually looking at it seriously, because he would soon face a terror that was equal to or even greater than his own, and this was a rare opportunity for training without any real danger. Giving yourself a buffer zone is a good habit. Everyone has seen pictures, but seeing the real thing in person is another matter, not to mention that you'll be dealing with it later.

This looks like a perfectly normal corpse, no wounds at all, not even any signs of bloating... It's less shocking than the cadaver pictures in my forensic medicine course. But what if she opens her eyes later? I'm still a little panicked... Thinking about it, honestly, I should wait for her to open her eyes and make eye contact with her; that would be enough practice...
