Ascending to Immortality by Slaying Spirits

Chapter 195 The Mystery of Aunt Jia's Sword

Chapter 195: The Mystery of Aunt Jia's Sword
"It's alright, I'm just a doctor now," Lin Le said calmly. "But since Madam was once a cultivator, this illness will be much easier to treat."

"In a moment, I will use my magic to cleanse your body. Just bear with it, madam."

"Okay." The woman nodded.

Lin Le placed his hand on the woman's wrist, then channeled his magic into it and spun her around.

"Cough cough!" The woman suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood.

The blood that fell to the ground was dark red and emitted a foul stench.

After spitting out a mouthful of blood, the woman's health improved noticeably.

"Thank you, doctor," the woman said. "How much will the medical fee be?"

"Three large coins," Lin Le said calmly.

"Alright," the woman said. "Tiger, hurry up and go get the money for them."

"Okay." Seeing that the woman's complexion had improved, the young man quickly went to get the money.

"I wonder what brings you two to Jiujiang City? I do know some of the secrets," the woman said, turning to look at Lin Le and his companion. "If I can be of any help, that would be wonderful."

"Excuse me, is your surname Jia?" Ling Muzhu suddenly interjected.

The woman was taken aback, nodded, and then looked Ling Muzhu up and down carefully: "I am, and you are?"

"Aunt Jia, it's me, Zhu'er." Ling Muzhu said anxiously, then she remembered something and quickly dispelled the transformation spell. "You adopted Zhu'er from the Ling family."

Looking at the beautiful and elegant woman with silver-blue eyes in front of her, Aunt Jia immediately remembered something: "Zhu'er, is your surname Ling and your given name Muzhu?"

"It's me." Ling Muzhu nodded quickly. "Aunt Jia, how did you end up like this?"

"Don't even mention it." Aunt Jia shook her head. "Weren't you taken back to the mountain gate by Zhang Jiajie to be raised? We hadn't heard from you for so many years. I thought you had forgotten me. Why are you back?"

“My husband went on a journey, and he specially brought me back to visit him,” Ling Muzhu explained.

Lin Le also dispelled the transformation spell, reverting to his handsome young appearance with rosy lips and white teeth.

He nodded slightly to Aunt Jia and said, "Lin Le greets Aunt Jia."

The young man who had come with the money was shocked to see the two people who had returned to their original forms. He now understood what his mother meant by "sir"—these two were cultivators.

Aunt Jia glanced at the two of them, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back, since the two appeared to be quite different in age.

"Since you're a relative of Madam, I'll lend you another hand." Lin Le pointed his finger, and the three-colored flames entered Aunt Jia's body.

Aunt Jia's skin turned red again, but after a while, it returned to normal and even became a little fairer than before.

Lin Le withdrew his hand and said, "I have repaired the damaged parts of your body, but I cannot restore your spiritual root. However, with your experience, it should not be too difficult for you to retrace the path of the spiritual platform."

Lin Le glanced at the young man beside him again: "If you are interested, I can come back in about a year and take you and your son back to the mountain gate to cultivate."

"What kind of mountain gate are you talking about?" Aunt Jia asked, puzzled.

"You didn't know?" Lin Le was taken aback. "Didn't my master tell you back then?"

"What does your master look like?" Aunt Jia felt that Lin Le seemed to have made a mistake.

"This is what he looks like." Lin Le waved his hand, projecting the appearance of Xu Lingzi with magic.

Aunt Jia looked at it carefully and shook her head: "It's not him."

Lin Le turned to look at Ling Muzhu: "Did you remember it wrong back then?"

"No." Ling Muzhu thought carefully for a moment, "That's right."

"What is Zhang Jiajie's Taoist name?" Lin Le asked Aunt Jia again.

Aunt Jia thought for a moment and said, "It seems his name was Jian Xuanzi. It was fifty or sixty years ago. With my current memory, I can't remember clearly."

The young man, Lin Le, and Ling Muzhu were all taken aback.

The young man was surprised that his mother, who had lived for sixty or seventy years, still looked like a middle-aged woman. Lin Le and Ling Muzhu were astonished that this had happened fifty or sixty years ago, but Ling Muzhu was only thirty-five years old.

“Aunt Jia, I remember I’m only thirty-six years old this year.” Ling Muzhu thought Aunt Jia was mistaken.

"Impossible, my memory isn't that bad." Aunt Jia shook her head. "Why don't we do a recap?"

"Okay." Lin Le nodded, then looked at the young man, "What's your name?"

"My name is An Hujin," the young man said.

“Alright, Hu Jin, go out and stop your village chief first. We need to talk to Aunt Jia,” Lin Le said.

“Okay.” An Hujin nodded and turned to leave.

When they went outside, they saw the village chief leading a group of men walking towards them menacingly.

He rushed over to stop him: "Village chief, wait! That is a celestial master, you mustn't offend him!"

The village chief, who was about to rush over to confront them, was taken aback: "Are you sure?"

"I'm sure! That immortal master just slapped down with his palm, and 'slap!' my mother's illness was cured!" An Hujin exclaimed excitedly.

Seeing An Hujin's confident declaration, the village chief said, "Then take me to see that immortal master."

“No.” An Hujin shook his head. “The woman next to the Immortal Master looks like a relative of my mother. They’re chatting, and you can’t disturb them!”

"Hey, An Hujin, why don't you just say that immortal master is your relative!" A young man who usually didn't get along with An Hujin said sarcastically, "Are you trying to let those two outsiders take the opportunity to escape! Village chief, if you ask me, we should just barge in and see for ourselves."

"Fine!" An Hujin sneered upon hearing this. "Go ahead and go in if you dare. When the immortal master is furious, he'll chop your dog's head off."

“I’ll rely on my connections, at worst I’ll get a scolding from my mother. As for you, you can go cry and go see your ancestors with your parents!” An Hujin immediately stepped aside.

The young man didn't dare to step forward either, because he was all too familiar with An Hujin's fearless demeanor; he knew that An Hujin would always end up in trouble.

Seeing this, the village chief said, "Alright, since Little Tiger is the guarantor, we'll wait a bit. Don't forget, we still need the immortal master to save our lives."

When the village chief mentioned this, everyone realized that the information they had received earlier might be true; they had all contracted the plague, but had not yet shown symptoms.

Inside the house, Aunt Jia also recounted Ling Muzhu's background. Her father was a swordsman who rose from humble beginnings, and her mother was one of the young ladies of the Fang family in Jiujiang City.

Then came the very cliché development: Ling Muzhu's mother, whose cultivation talent was slightly inferior, was chosen as a sacrifice for an arranged marriage.

Ling Muzhu's father eloped with Ling Muzhu's mother, and escaped capture by relying on their strong sword cultivation skills.

But Ling Muzhu's mother's arranged marriage partner was not satisfied and kept searching for the two of them.

They searched for a long time, but finally found it when Ling Muzhu's mother was five months pregnant.

The couple were forced to embark on a desperate escape.

Just as Ling Muzhu remembered, her father died in battle, and her mother suffered a miscarriage and had to give birth to twins prematurely.

"Twins?" Ling Muzhu was taken aback and couldn't help but glance at Lin Le. "So I have a sister?"

“Yes, I should say your sister.” Aunt Jia nodded. “That was to avoid being hunted down, so they were raised separately by two families.”

“You are me and my husband, but your sister was taken away and raised by a nun.”

"What's the nun's name?" Ling Muzhu pressed.

"I don't know." Aunt Jia shook her head. "That nun came suddenly, saying there was someone here who was her master and disciple, and then she took your sister away."

"I see." Ling Muzhu nodded.

Lin Le raised an eyebrow; it seemed that the nun had a high level of cultivation.

Aunt Jia continued, explaining that Ling Muzhu was born prematurely and was therefore born with congenital deficiencies, resulting in poor health and extreme sleepiness from a young age.

By the time he was six, he was awake for only two out of twelve hours a day.

They also tried seeing some famous doctors, but to no avail.

Until Jian Xuanzi arrived.

Jian Xuanzi and Ling Muzhu's father were sworn brothers. Unfortunately, he was in seclusion six years ago and did not see the distress message. He only saw it when he came out of seclusion six months later, but it was too late.

For the next five years, he kept inquiring about the whereabouts of Ling Muzhu's parents, and finally found Ling Muzhu at that time.

At that time, Ling Muzhu's coma worsened. Jian Xuanzi, seeing this, simply told Aunt Jia and took Ling Muzhu away to find someone with stronger medical skills for treatment.

"Was your life normal after you turned six?" Lin Le asked Ling Muzhu.

Ling Muzhu thought about it carefully and nodded: "They do sleep a lot before the age of six, but it becomes normal after the age of six."

"Did my senior brother say who to get treatment from?" Lin Le asked.

“It must be the Nine Treasures Sect, a famous sect of alchemy recently. He said he has an acquaintance there,” Aunt Jia said after thinking carefully.

Lin Le nodded: "I understand."

The answer to the more than twenty years of missing memories for Ling Muzhu should be found in the Nine Treasures Sect.

"So what happened to your injuries?" Lin Le asked. "Did that Tan Yifang beat you up?"

Tan Yifang was the man Ling Muzhu's mother arranged to marry.

"I suppose so." Aunt Jia nodded. "Tan Yifang harbors a grudge against the Fang family. After he took over the Tan family, he continued to attack the Fang family, causing them to gradually decline. As an affiliated family, my Jia family was naturally attacked as well. And as a close friend of Fang Zhuqing, I was also targeted."

"I understand." Lin Le nodded slightly. "To be honest, I was punished by being sent down the mountain to practice medicine and travel for a year. So if you and Hu Jin are willing to come back to Xuantian Sect with me, I will come to pick you up a year later."

As he spoke, he put down a storage bag and said, "If you're willing, before that, you should live well with Hu Jin and lay a foundation for yourself. That shouldn't be difficult for you."

"If you are unwilling, these resources should be enough for you and Hu Jin to use until you reach the Foundation Establishment stage, as compensation for your kindness in raising A Zhu."

Xuantian Sect? Aunt Jia was taken aback, but after thinking for a moment, she said, "Okay, Xiao Hu and I will wait for you to pick us up."

"Okay," Lin Le nodded. "Ah Zhu, you catch up with Aunt Jia some more, I'm going to deal with the pneumonia problem."

"Okay." Ling Muzhu nodded.

Lin Le stood up and transformed back into the fair-skinned middle-aged man he had just been.

Lin Le went outside and saw An Hujin confronting a group of people.

When the village chief saw Lin Le come out, he went up to him and respectfully asked, "May I ask where you come from, Master?"

Lin Le glanced at him indifferently: "That's none of your business."

The village chief immediately bowed his head: "Yes, yes, I was presumptuous."

Judging from Lin Le's eyes and demeanor, the shrewd old man knew that Lin Le was a true immortal master.

Lin Le waved his sleeve: "Go and tell the people who are farming outside to come back to the village. I will use magic to expel the plague from your bodies later. If even one person is left behind and the infection spreads, don't blame me, understand?"

"Understood, understood." The village chief nodded, then turned to the village chief and said, "What are you all standing there for? Hurry up and notify everyone. Even if they're still in bed, carry them over if you have to, understand?"

"Yes."

The crowd immediately scattered.
