Chapter 62 Extraordinary Blockade

Chapter 62 Extraordinary Blockade

The sled twisted and turned and quickly disappeared into the giant forest. Roland did not go to the camp, but instead went around to a high ground on the north side, picked out one of the tallest trees, and climbed up it with great speed.

Wrapped tightly in his cloak, Roland huddled on a tree branch at the top, gazing south. From this angle, he could see the entrance to the canyon.

In the darkness of night, three giant white snakes wreaked havoc among the crowd. A single breath of their chill could freeze a person into an ice sculpture. Humans either fled or fought back, but ordinary firearms could only barely break their scales, leaving them seemingly covered in blood, but in reality, they only enraged the snakes.

There weren't many people, maybe twenty or thirty. They were too far away to see clearly, but judging from their positions and actions, they shouldn't be a group.

Among them, three stood out the most. One rode a pure white reindeer, wearing a cloak. With a wave of his hand, explosions, flames, and green smoke appeared alternately, which the giant snake was particularly wary of.

The reindeer glowed red and moved with extraordinary agility, as if dancing on the ice.

Another person was dressed in a white robe with silver patterns and held a staff as tall as a person, the tip of which gleamed with purple light. He made no move, yet a giant snake was as if drunk and could not catch up for a long time.

最后一人身高足有三米,胖得像个球,挥舞着两柄屠刀,不时怒吼一声,张牙舞爪气势最盛,但也最惨!巨蛇根本不吃那一套,一个甩尾就把他抽飞出去,没死全靠抗揍。

Unable to threaten the giant snake, the three could only fight and run, coordinating with the guns of those around them, and slowly retreat from the canyon.

Just when Roland thought they were doomed, the white giant snake stopped at the edge of the canyon and stopped chasing. After opening its mouth and hissing silently a few times, it turned around and disappeared into the cave.

After the giant serpent disappeared, the remaining dozen or so people neither fled nor healed their companions, but silently adjusted their positions. Roland immediately sensed that something was amiss; judging from their positions, it seemed the silver-robed man, together with the butcher giant, had blocked the reindeer riders' retreat.

The two sides were in a standoff, with five reindeer riders, almost all of them wounded. The silver-robed men had seven, all dressed in white, while the butcher giant had two. The fighting strength was nine to five.

“What a great opportunity!” Drake squatted on another tree and sent a message to Roland via telepathy. “They must have gotten something good. Let’s wait until they’re both exhausted, then we can reap the benefits.”

"Uh, if it were you in that situation, could you have withstood the giant snake?" Roland felt that Drake was incompatible with him; this guy was too fond of causing trouble.

"I can't hold out for long, but I'm definitely stronger than that fat guy." Drake was very confident in himself.

"The extraordinary systems here are very strange, and most of them don't rely on the body. We should play it safe." Roland preferred to be conservative. They hadn't even seen what the treasure was yet, and it was too risky to get involved rashly.

Just as the two were discussing, a battle suddenly broke out on the other side.

The man in silver robes struck first, swinging his long staff, and the reindeer fell to the ground with a thud. The giant, wielding a butcher's knife, charged forward, knocking away one of his opponents with a single blow, and then brought his blade down on the reindeer's head, seemingly about to cleave the man in two.

At the critical moment, the knight turned around and threw an item, which blocked the giant's scythe. The burst of flames spread along the scythe and arm to the giant's entire body, and his charge came to an abrupt halt. A pig-like scream came from the fireball.

Roland vaguely heard a roar, powerful and resounding, that instantly extinguished the flames on the giant's body. The giant charged again, but this time it was noticeably more cautious.

By this time, the reindeer had already stood up, enduring the attacks of several men, and stumbled out of the encirclement carrying the knight. A warrior in knight's armor, wielding a shield, charged against the giant, managing to stop him, but was himself thrown back by the impact.

Comparatively, the silver-robed man posed a greater threat. Without any visible movement or light or shadow, the knight had already slumped limply on the reindeer, his fate unknown.

The reindeer's target was likely the winter hunting camp several kilometers away. The two sides chased and fled, stretching the battle line out. As the distance closed, Roland and his companion could clearly hear gunshots and shouts.

Blood blossoms bloomed on the reindeer's body; compared to the giant snake, it clearly lacked the ability to withstand bullets.

"What do we do?" Drake was very excited to see the battle, but he didn't get a response from Roland for a long time.

Roland stared blankly at the approaching reindeer rider. The flamboyant antlers were so familiar, and the crimson cloak fluttered in the wind, revealing a few strands of long, messy crimson hair peeking out from the hood.

"Roland?" "Help!" Roland ripped off his cloak, hung his backpack on a tree branch, and slid down the trunk at lightning speed.

Before the person even landed, two plumes of black smoke drifted down and transformed into two black wolves, which trampled through the snow and charged towards the battlefield at full speed.

Sensing Roland's eagerness, Drake leaped into the air, landing before Roland. After rolling to cushion the impact, he drew his twin axes and sprinted away, his face filled with undisguised fighting spirit.

Roland felt a pang of regret; he had chosen a viewing spot that was too far away. Otherwise, he would have recognized her sooner and reached the battlefield more quickly. Hidden by the towering trees, he couldn't see the distant battle, and could only run wildly in the general direction, his mind more chaotic than the cold wind.

'If something really happens to her, will I regret it?'

On the battlefield, a sharp arrow traveled over a hundred meters and accurately struck the reindeer's hind leg. The reindeer let out a mournful cry and collapsed to the ground, throwing the rider and backpack off it.

The giant butcher was overjoyed; he was the fastest, while the silver-robed man and his companions were the slowest, falling behind. The wounded reindeer riders were filled with despair, but they were powerless to help.

The silver-robed man wore a mask. He snorted coldly, and a low incantation rang out. An invisible wave struck the giant, who instantly collapsed to the ground, clutching his head and rolling around. Several white-robed men seized the opportunity to catch up.

A pale arm emerged from the crimson cloak, pulling a backpack over her shoulder and placing it behind her. She had woken up sometime earlier, sitting half-upright on the ground, the cloak covering her body, her face deathly pale beneath the hood.

With difficulty, she pulled two vials of medicine from her waist, uncorked them, and was about to pour them into her mouth.

"Ouch——"

Two wolf howls tore through the night, rapidly approaching. Before the sound had even faded, two giant black wolves suddenly burst onto the battlefield, their claws and teeth wreathed in eerie light. One pounced on the giant, while the other charged straight at the silver-robed man.

Yulia's hand froze in mid-air as she stared blankly at the two black wolves.

"Woo-"

A spinning axe hurtling through the air was faster than the black wolf, tracing an arc in the sky before slashing at the giant at the front.

The giant hastily raised his butcher's knife, and with a loud clang, the knife flew out of his hand. He was also knocked down by the immense force, his arm numb and covered with countless blood spots.

The spinning axe flew back, and a tall man with unique attire leaped out from behind the giant tree, caught the axe, and twisted his body to send two more spinning axes flying, the whooshing sound of them cutting through the air extremely oppressive.

Yulia stared at the unfamiliar man, her expression one of astonishment, unsure whether to feel relieved or disappointed.

The others were also surprised by the sudden turn of events, and quickly stopped, instinctively adopting a defensive stance.

"Get out of my way!" the giant suddenly roared, his voice high-pitched and domineering, making one's eardrums ache and inspiring fear.

Fletcher ignored him and charged again. The giant dodged awkwardly, but his legs were instantly torn open with several bloody gashes, leaving them a bloody mess. The giant's speed wasn't slow, but it was still far inferior to Black Wolf's.

A deep incantation resounded, and an invisible shield appeared before the silver-robed man. With two clangs, the spinning axe failed to hit its target, and the shield shattered instantly.

The silver-robed man frowned, his eyes widening in fury as he faced the charging black wolf. His mask shattered, and an invisible shockwave struck Kili, sending him flying.

Not far away, a man in white drew his bow and nocked two arrows, shooting them one after the other at the spinning axe in the air. His archery was precise, but to no avail. The two arrows passed straight through the axe, as if they had hit thin air.
