Chapter 95 Tyranny Laws

Chapter 95 Tyranny Laws
Back in the small building, Julia should be asleep; Roland could hear her even breathing.

He left the spoils of war he had seized at her door, which included cold weapons, firearms, and some miscellaneous items, and asked her to help him dispose of them.

He then gave his small sled to the guards, exchanged a pocket watch for a large sled, loaded everything onto it, and the two wolves drove back to Ice River Town in haste.

The journey was uneventful, and no one bothered him. Extraordinary individuals aren't fools; many probably knew his strength and wouldn't easily provoke him without a significant benefit.

Around noon, the sled entered through the west gate and screeched to a halt at the entrance of the courtyard.

The courtyard gate was half open, and Aiven and the others were tidying up the yard; they weren't burning charcoal today.

"Big brother, you're back..."

Roland waved his hand and immediately gave instructions: "Evan, go buy some food. The rest of you, hurry up and pack your things. We'll leave after we eat. We'll stay overnight in Grantham tonight."

"okay……"

The group was caught off guard, but they still obeyed out of habit and got to work.

Roland instructed the two wolves to keep an eye on the car, then headed to the orphanage alone. After much persuasion, he left Grandma Mia a thousand German dollars, and then went to the East Market, where he spent three hundred German dollars to clear out Uncle Worth's gold inventory.

He still had over 7,000 German dollars left, which was a huge sum of money anywhere, and should be enough to support his advancement to Sequence 8.

Back in the courtyard, the scene at the entrance almost made him burst out laughing: the spacious sled was completely stuffed with bedding, clothes, a kettle, a large white fish, charcoal... Andrew had even brought an iron pot.

"Take the pot away. Doesn't Luke need to eat?" he scolded irritably.

“He also has a small pot…” Targen whispered.

"Put everything back, including these blankets, smelly boots, clothes, big white fish, tableware, seasonings... Each person should have a backpack, only bring personal belongings, bring as little food as possible, we're not going to sleep in the wilderness..."

The group hung their heads dejectedly, reluctantly carrying their belongings down.

"Luke." Roland beckoned Luke aside and handed him a wallet. "Here, use it sparingly. There's a gold pendant inside. Wear it with you. It can be a lifesaver when you're short of money, but try not to sell it unless you're absolutely desperate."

That gold pendant was made of divine metal, allowing him to stay informed about Luke's condition at any time.

“Ah, I… I can’t accept it,” Luke said, sounding troubled.

"Keep it safe. Hide the shotgun well, use it for self-defense if necessary, but don't expose it." Roland patted his shoulder.

"Hmm." Luke looked blank, his eyes were unfocused, and he felt empty inside. He wanted to say that he would go with everyone, but in the end, he didn't say it.

"Lunch is here!" Evan said, jogging along with two large food containers in his arms.

"Why are you only getting back now?" Andrew took the meat from the package, sniffing the rich aroma that brought a smile to his face. "Wow, you're really generous today."

Roland seemed to understand what was going on and said with emotion, "You said goodbye to Little Tom?"

"Yes, he didn't want any money, but he insisted that I wait a little longer and made a lot of food." Evan nodded hurriedly.

"Let's eat."

The group returned to their room, laid out the sumptuous meal, took out their cutlery, and began to enjoy the feast.

Halfway through the meal, Roland vaguely heard a rumbling sound in the distance.

Each shot was louder than the last, followed by gunfire and a cacophony of shouts.

"Boom——"

He had just stood up when a huge roar resounded, and the earth trembled slightly.

"problem occurs!"

He took a few steps out of the room, leaped onto the roof, and looked around. The towering roof of the law enforcement agency was gone, and dust rose up in the air. Gunshots rang out, and shouts and cries of pain filled the air.

'Someone attacked the law enforcement agency?!' He was too far away for his senses to detect.

Roland opened and closed his eyes, and a layer of golden magic patterns appeared in his eyes. Instantly, chaotic spiritual fluctuations came into view, one of which was powerful and frenzied, giving people a feeling of madness and majesty.

'What is that? A sealed artifact, or a death row inmate riot? The prison doesn't seem to be over there, does it?'

He focused his mind on communicating with the chessboard, and the figures of Mandy and Sterburn appeared beside him, perfectly forming a bond between two sniper gods and two law enforcement officers.

"Mandy, play it by ear. Sterburn, come with me."

Before the two could reply, he grabbed his longbow, slung his quiver over his shoulder, and used the rooftop as a springboard to quickly rush to the scene, with the two wolves following closely on the ground.

He knew everyone in Ice River Town. The Chamber of Commerce and the Monastery Street were right next to the Law Enforcement Bureau, and the Orphanage was not far to the south of the Monastery Street. He couldn't just sit idly by.

…………

Ruins of the law enforcement agency.

The scene was a mess, with building debris and wood fragments scattered everywhere. Bodies could be vaguely seen buried below, including law enforcement officers and many nearby residents.

A group of law enforcement officers, armed and looking utterly desperate, surrounded the ruins. "Boom—"

The ruins suddenly exploded, and splinters of wood and debris were thrown out like a rainstorm. When the smoke and dust cleared, a colossal creature over three meters tall was revealed.

He was roughly humanoid, abnormally bloated, with grayish-black skin covered in scales, the gaps between which were eyes. The fine scales twisted and formed distorted Akkadian characters. Upon closer inspection, they turned out to be fragments of the laws of the Sid Empire.

"Director Mark?!" Hughes knelt on the ground, his face covered in blood, staring in terror at the monster in the ruins.

"What are you saying?" A middle-aged law enforcement officer carrying two swords and two shields grabbed his collar, his eyes filled with shock.

“Chief.” Hughes’s gaze slowly focused, and after recognizing the new Chief, Chad, he stammered, “That’s… what Chief Mark looks like.”

"what?"

As if he had just thought of something, he looked closely and saw that the monster was indeed holding a book with a metal cover.

"Fire!" he roared, "He's controlled by the [Tyranny Code], we won't let him leave, not even if it kills us."

"Bang bang bang..."

The bullets sprayed at the monster like water, but lost all impact as soon as they got close, and raindrops fell to the ground.

The monster turned around somewhat sluggishly, its dark eyes landing on the law enforcement officer. The mere eye contact was enough to instill fear in ordinary people, causing them to become emotionally disoriented and unable to think clearly.

His face was contorted, but one could still vaguely make out the shadow of Commissioner Mark, the law enforcement officer's hat embedded in flesh on his head looking particularly ironic.

'It's out of control...' Chad felt a chill run through him.

He snapped out of his daze and immediately commanded, "Don't look him in the eyes!"

His words immediately drew the monster's attention. The monster's gaze lingered on his epaulettes for a moment, then, seemingly enraged, it roared and charged madly at Chad.

Chad's eyes widened in anger, his expression stern. He reached out and raised his hand, and a phantom image of a law book appeared in his palm.

"I declare you guilty! The Law of Hid: Shackles!"

Countless golden characters flowed from the phantom of the code, transforming into a golden shackle that bound the monster's neck, wrists, and ankles with every breath.

"Hehehe..." the monster grinned maliciously, revealing its pale white teeth. "Tyrannical Law: No one can judge me!"

As he spoke, the golden shackles instantly decayed and crumbled.

"Hidden Decree: Punishment!"

With a stern rebuke, a golden whip appeared out of thin air and lashed out at the monster, but it crumbled as soon as it got close, having no effect whatsoever.

Chad was utterly desperate; the monster possessed the Code of Tyranny, and none of the law enforcement officers could do anything about it.

At this moment, he finally realized that former Director Mark must have lied about the abilities and effects of this sealed artifact and deliberately failed to hand it over.

He shoved Hughes hard and shouted, "Run! Everyone run! Evacuate the people..."

Hughes lit the distress signal in his hand, raised his hands high, and turned to run. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the monster grab Chief Chad and open its huge mouth to devour him.

'Why, how could this happen...'

His eyes were bloodshot. The oath he took when he became a law enforcement officer still echoed in his ears, but his mentor had become a monster, slaughtering his colleagues.

"call out--"

An arrow pierced the sky, faster than sound, and struck the monster's wrist in an instant, blasting open a bloody hole to reveal bare white bones.

Chad was overjoyed and seized the opportunity to kick and break free from the monster's control. After rolling to the ground, he fled for his life.

"Not bad, you're quite clever," Roland remarked.

He had just arrived and happened to see the golden decree of the law enforcer, which was magnificent and imposing, even intimidating him.

Unexpectedly, it looked good but was useless and didn't serve any purpose at all.

"Shhhhh-"

The monster raised its arm to block, splattering blood everywhere. Several bloody holes were blown open in its arm, but it healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.

"It's you!" The monster finally recognized the figure on the distant rooftop, its eyes growing even more frenzied as it roared repeatedly, "It's all because of you, it's all because of you..."

As he spoke, he charged at Roland, seemingly insane.

Suddenly, Kiley and Frederick pounced from both sides, their claws and teeth gleaming eerily.

"Tyrannical decree: Deportation!"

The monster pointed out something in the air, and the two wolves paused, then disappeared after a few flashes.

Roland was startled. He focused his senses and realized that the two wolves had been forcibly sent back to the Spirit Realm and could not be summoned for a short period of time!
