Chapter 14 The first day of school

Chapter 14 The first day of school

Pomona Sprout is a short, plump, kind-looking witch who also teaches Herbology.

“Herbalism is a fascinating and important subject.”

"Today, I'm teaching you how to care for valerian shoots plants, which are an important component of many potions."

Sprout, wearing a dark green robe, brought the students to Greenhouse No. 1. Damon smelled the fragrance of fragrant grass in the air with a leisurely posture.

At the same time, a line of text appeared in front of his vision.

[Herbalism——LV1 (Beginner)] 1/100
[You can easily master some simple herbal management techniques, but your ability to handle advanced magical plants and complex potions is still relatively weak.]

"Is it still starting at level 1? What is my current magic points?"

Damon opened the system panel and found that there were only more than 30,000 magic points left.

Then, there is no need to worry too much.

Just add some.

[Herbalism - Level 2 (Apprentice)] 1/1000
You can make preliminary adjustments to plant growth conditions and medicinal properties, and understand more complex plant knowledge.

carry on.

[Herbalism - Level 3 (Advanced)] 1/10000
You can master some complex plant processing with ease, make potions based on the characteristics of plants, and make innovative uses and proportions of medicinal materials.

Is herbalism also tied to potion making?

Damon raised his brows slightly and continued to add more.

[Herbalism - Level 4 (Expert)] 1/1000000
You can quickly master how to deal with rare and dangerous plants, combine herbs with magic as needed, and master the skills to independently create advanced herbal potions.

Seeing the point-adding threshold jump directly from 10,000 to 1 million, Damon silently withdrew his hand.

In the first class, Sprout taught the students how to care for valerian shoots, asking questions from time to time, and Hermione was always the first to raise her hand to answer, earning two points for Gryffindor.

While she was happy, she always subconsciously looked at Damon, but found that he was quite absent-minded at the moment, stroking the plants in front of him in a daze.

Maybe he's just good at spells?
Hermione was pleased with the idea—not that she didn't want Damon to be good, but she felt that she should be better than him.

But Hermione's idea was not wrong. Damon was not that interested in Herbology, and Professor Sprout was a gentle and kind person. Damon would not have fun in her class.

The class passed quickly, and the young wizards happily left the class and rushed to the classroom where the second period of History of Magic was held.

Then they quickly stopped laughing.

The teacher of History of Magic was the ghost Professor Binns. Throughout the whole class, he just kept talking in a monotonous voice. Except for Hermione and Damon, no one could stay focused and listen to the whole class.

However, Damon did not attend Professor Binns' lectures, but instead read the textbook "History of Magic" by himself. To him, this was like reading extracurricular reading and was not boring.

As the get out of class was over, Professor Binns' voice stopped abruptly as if it was an established procedure, and all the young wizards made sounds of relief.

"Harry, Neville, get out of class is dismissed."

Damon shook the sleeping "Boy-Who-Lived" on both sides. They woke up with drooling eyes. Ron, who was next to Harry, woke up at the same time, with saliva hanging from his mouth.

The first thing he saw was the meticulous Hermione in the front row, and he instinctively wanted to chat with her, but when he found that Damon was in a very good mental state, he put the thought back.

"Damon, I'm glad to see you're not asleep. However, I noticed you were just reading without taking any notes. I think you should pay more attention."

Hermione raised her chin at Damon and walked away with her arms swung. "I think you should be more careful~~" Ron finally couldn't help it and repeated Hermione's words in a strange voice. "Who does she think she is? How dare she tell Damon to do something?"

"Thank you for defending me, Ron," Damon looked at Ron, his blue eyes fixed on him. "But I think Hermione means well. You don't have to say that to her."

"Oh, I'm sorry, Damon," Ron said hurriedly, not expecting Damon to say that. "That's not what I meant. You know."

Damon nodded, without further inquiry, and returned with them to the Gryffindor common room.

The next period of time will be entirely theirs.

"Hey, it's still early, why don't we go walk around the castle?"

As soon as Ron returned to the dormitory and put down his things, he forgot his previous unpleasantness and couldn't wait to invite everyone.

"I have to do my homework first. I also have to write a few letters and do some shopping. You guys go ahead."

Damon initially refused and left the dormitory with the reference books.

"Doing homework as soon as I get back? Damon, tell me this isn't true!"

"I'm sorry, Ron, it really is."

Damon closed the door gently, leaving the people in the room looking at each other in confusion.

"What about you?"

Ron looked at Harry first.

"I'll go with you!"

After hesitating for a moment, Harry finally couldn't suppress his desire for adventure and chose to forget about the homework for the time being.

Seamus naturally chose to take the risk, and Neville silently followed the decision of the two.

The homework for the Herbology class was relatively easy. It mainly required writing an essay based on the class content about the characteristics and precautions of the valerian twig plant, as well as listing three potions made from them. The essay should be no less than six inches long.

The former was all in the book, and Damon quickly found the answer to the latter after he borrowed "Magical Pharmacy and Potions" from the library.

During this period, Damon met Hermione both in the lounge and in the library. The proud little witch pursed her lips at Damon, with admiration flashing in her eyes, as if she admired his style very much.

However, Damon clearly saw the competitive look in her eyes.

During this period, Hermione's Gryffindor factor had not yet awakened, and she was very methodical in everything she did. Even though she had a good relationship with Damon, she still regarded him as a competitor.

Damon smiled and didn't care.

After finishing the homework for two courses, Damon went to the cafeteria on the first floor to eat, mentally listing what things he would send letters to purchase later.

The roommates who had returned from the adventure sat beside him happily, discussing what they had seen and heard along the way. They said it was a great loss that Damon did not go with them, and extended a warm invitation to him again.

"Next time for sure. I have other things to do this time."

Damon smiled and refused again, and this time Ron's expression changed subtly. Because of Damon's previous feat on the train, he did not get angry.

But Damon didn't care what he would think.
