Hogwarts: Becoming the White Lord from Breathing
Chapter 37 I Saw Myself
Chapter 37 I Saw Myself
Harry put on the invisibility cloak and suddenly realized something.
Once he puts on this invisibility cloak, the entire Hogwarts is completely open to him and he can go anywhere!
Ron mumbled a few times in his sleep, but Harry thought better of it and didn't wake him.
This was his first time using his father's invisibility cloak, and he wanted to use it alone.
Harry's heart was pounding as he thought of many possibilities - he could go to the restricted section of the library to find out who Nicolas Flamel was, or he could go downstairs on the first floor to see what was there.
Perhaps, he might run into Damon - in fact, he has always been curious about where Damon went to practice spells. If he can find him, maybe he can even watch Damon practice spells?
Harry first went to the restricted area on the fifth floor, but he didn't find any clues. Instead, he was frightened by a book that kept screaming and ran around, gradually losing his way.
Because of the presence of the administrator Filch, he mistakenly entered an abandoned classroom.
Many tables and chairs were piled up against the wall, showing a large dark shadow, and there was also an upside-down wastebasket - but on the wall facing him, there was something that seemed Things that don't belong here seem to have been put here temporarily because there was no place to put them.
This is a very imposing mirror, reaching up to the ceiling, with a gorgeous golden frame supported by two claw-shaped feet, and a line of seal characters engraved on the top.
Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi.
The other way around.
I show not your face but your heart's desire
There was an indescribable magic that was attracting Harry.
He walked forward in a daze and stood in front of the mirror.
In the mirror appeared a very beautiful woman with crimson hair and eyes that looked exactly like Harry's.
She was smiling and crying at the same time.
The tall, thin, dark-haired man standing beside her put his arm around her.
The man wore glasses and had messy hair, with a tuft of hair on the back of his head standing up unruly, just like Harry's. Harry was now very close to the mirror, and his nose was almost touching his own nose in the mirror.
He got it.
In the mirror are his parents.
Harry pressed his hands against the mirror glass, staring at them hungrily.
He felt a sharp pang in his heart, half of joy and half of deep sorrow.
Harry didn't know how long he stared.
After returning to the dormitory, he shared all his experiences of this night out with Ron - in fact, he also wanted to tell Damon, but according to the rules, he would have to wait a few more days if he wanted to see him again.
On the second night, he and Ron went for another night walk and came to the mirror. As a result, Ron and Harry saw completely different things - he saw himself becoming the president of the student union and the captain of the Quidditch team. Damon and he were called the "Two Lions of Gryffindor".
After returning, Ron's mood became much more cheerful, and his eyes were shining when he spoke.
On the third morning, although it was a holiday, Harry did not stay in bed - he wanted to see if he could see Damon in the hall. If there was a time when Damon was most likely to appear, it would be during breakfast.
According to the pattern they summarized, Damon would disappear for two to three days and then appear once in the morning.
When he saw the figure sitting at the dining table, Harry couldn't help but greeted with surprise:
"Damon!"
"Oh, Harry, you look really excited?"
Damon took out the chopsticks made by Transfiguration, picked up the beef noodles in the bowl and slurped them up - on the day when he gave the gifts to the house-elves, they had come to express their gratitude, and Damon raised the demand for noodle products at the right time.
Although house-elves don't understand pasta, they can solve many problems with magic.
"What is this—never mind, I'm not here to discuss this." Harry glanced at the professor's chair and approached Damon mysteriously, "I found something good. Do you want to go with me to see it tonight?"
"A night out?" Damon lowered his head and took another big mouthful of noodles. Harry thought he was worried about the school rules and was about to say that he had an invisibility cloak and could take Damon with him, but he heard him decisively agree.
"Sure, I'll come to the dormitory to find you later. See you there."
Damon quickly finished his noodles, wiped his mouth, and left.
Harry looked at his back, a little dazed - Damon agreed too quickly, and he was a little uncomfortable.
"See you there or see you."
In the evening, Harry brought Damon to the mirror with ease.
As for Ron, he felt that frequent night walks were too dangerous. He wanted to persuade Harry to stop this behavior, but when he heard that Harry was going to take Damon to have a look, he no longer objected.
Because the cloak could not hold the three of them, he said to Harry with regret:
"Please ask Damon what he saw and tell me later."
Harry understood instantly, smiled and nodded:
"Don't worry, I'm actually very curious about what Damon will see."
What would a man as talented and goal-oriented as Damon see in the mirror?
"That's the mirror. That's what I want to show you."
Harry pointed at the Mirror of Erised, his face filled with anticipation.
He even became nervous when he saw Damon walk completely to the mirror.
Seeing that Damon only raised his eyebrows without any change in expression, unlike when he and Ron saw the mirror, Harry took the initiative to ask:
"What do you see?"
"Nothing, Harry," Damon turned his head and smiled, with a hint of satisfaction on his face, "I saw myself."
"What—that's impossible."
Harry's pupils shrank slightly, and he walked to the mirror again, motioning Damon to take a step back. Soon, the images of his parents reappeared.
"It's not broken," he muttered, moving aside. "Would you like to try again?"
"it is good."
Damon stood in front of the mirror again, and the image in the mirror became himself again.
Of course he knew the reason, but he couldn't say it - according to the plot, Dumbledore should be watching him behind them now.
"It's just me, Harry. Maybe this mirror won't work for me."
"But—how is this possible—"
Harry was a little bit unbelievable and embarrassed - it was so rare to find something to share with Damon, but it turned out to be such a misunderstanding?
He wanted to let Damon try again, but he heard Damon say:
"Well, Harry, since you call this mirror a treasure, why don't you tell me what you see in it?"
"I—I saw my parents. I was standing with them in the mirror. My father had his arm around my shoulders, and my mother was crying and rubbing my head. Her eyes were fixed on me outside the mirror."
"That sounds great. You've never met your parents before, have you?" Damon patted Harry's shoulder. "In that case, should we take the mirror away?"
"Eh?"
Harry was not expecting him to say that and was stunned.
Behind them, the magic power in the corner suddenly shook.
