Chapter 50 Norwegian Ridgeback

"Snapped!"

Seeing the book in front of him that was obviously related to black magic, Damon showed disgust on his face.

Black magic is a spell that requires strong negative emotions to show its power. Every wizard who is fanatical about pursuing power has been crazy about it.

But in Damon's opinion, this thing really has no advantages except that it cannot be defended.

Not to mention the risk of dark magic polluting the mind - among those top-tier Death Eaters, almost none of them have a normal mind.

Even the three unforgivable curses (Cruciatus Curse, Imperius Curse, and the most famous Avada Kedavra - The Killing Curse) that are said to be intimidating actually require strong negative emotions to be effective - a fifth-year Hogwarts student used the Killing Curse, and the power it caused was only enough to make a wizard bleed from the nose.

In other words, it is not enough to learn this spell, you also have to hypnotize yourself every day, "I am a murderer! I kill without blinking an eye! I hate this world!", and constantly strengthen the evil thoughts in your heart to increase your strength.

For the versatile Damon, learning the dark arts was completely unnecessary.

Is Transfiguration not versatile enough? Or is creating your own spells not good enough?
He has the time to hypnotize himself into a lunatic, which is enough for him to continue to improve his spells and transfiguration to the highest level - besides, he really wants to die happily every day since he came to this world. If you ask Damon to hate, he really can't hate!
"Snapped."

Damon threw the "Secrets of Cutting-Edge Black Magic" he had just picked up to the ground.

Even so, he still felt it was not enough. He took out his wand and cast a spell on the hand that had touched the book:
"Expurgo Malum (Purification of Evil Thoughts)!"

"Surgito!"

“Scourgify!”

After it was over, he still felt uneasy, so he used microscopic magic to confirm that he really had nothing to do with black magic. Then he walked straight past the black magic books that many wizards were obsessed with, without even looking at them.

Judging from the boy's appearance, if they weren't in the library, he would have probably cursed out loud.

"Madame Pince, why is there a copy of 'Advanced Dark Arts Revealed' lying around in the Restricted Section?
I think such evil books should not be kept in the library, even in the restricted section! This is a disregard for students' education and lives!"

Listening to the indignant voice of the young man outside the door, a pair of old hands quietly emerged, quickly picked up the "Secrets of Cutting-Edge Black Magic" on the ground, and disappeared again.

And in the invisible place, the owner of these hands was both very pleased and a little ashamed as if he was tortured - it seemed that he really shouldn't show this book to a child. Even if it was just a test, it was a bit too much.

But at least, he felt more at ease now. This time, there was really only one last step left - and then Dumbledore would consider whether to reveal everything to a child when the time was right.

Damon returned to the common room with two reference books. The three little ones rarely saw him in the common room, so they surrounded him directly.

"Damon, are you free?"

The expressions on their faces were as if they had discovered a new world.

"what's up?"

"Look—" Ron approached Damon and whispered, "Hagrid hatched a dragon. Do you want to go see it?"

"dragon?"

Damon suddenly raised his head and remembered a plot.

Hagrid obtained a Norwegian Ridgeback egg from Quirrell and accidentally revealed the secret that Fluffy, the three-headed hellhound, could be hypnotized by music. Has it hatched now?
"Please! We should not be discussing sightseeing like watching monkeys in a zoo!" Hermione said dissatisfiedly - dragons are extremely dangerous creatures, and Hagrid has violated serious laws and regulations by raising them privately.

"Hermione is right. I must go and see it before it is sent away."

Damon smiled and agreed to go to Hagrid's Hut with the three of them after class, which made Hermione's expression look much better. Ron and Harry were also happy that they could find something that interested Damon.

To be honest, they have indeed spent less time together and communicating recently.

But the three of them always felt that Damon was always doing something extremely important. If it was nothing big, they would really feel embarrassed to disturb Damon. Such a four-person activity had never happened before.

The four of them came to Hagrid's hut, and Damon saw the lizard-sized Norwegian Ridgeback as he wished.

Hagrid had neglected his duty of guarding the hunting grounds because the little dragon had made him so busy that the ground was littered with empty brandy bottles and chicken feathers - the Norwegian Ridgeback's favorite food.

"I've decided to call him Norbert," said Hagrid, looking at the dragon with tear-filled eyes. "He really knows me now. Look, Norbert! Norbert! Where's Mum?"

What surprised and saddened Hagrid was that the Norwegian Ridgeback, which had always been somewhat indifferent to people, now crawled directly towards Damon, excitedly waving its wings that had not yet fully spread.

A smile appeared on Damon's face. He stretched out his hand to the little dragon, and it climbed directly onto Damon's palm, all the way up, and stood on his shoulder, spraying sparks majestically.

"Oh my God—Noble—"

Hagrid looked at the fire dragon being so close to Damon, and the expression on his face was very interesting.

Damon scratched Xiaolong's chin and took the initiative to express Harry and others' concerns:
"Hagrid, you can't keep this dragon here forever. Norwegian Ridgebacks grow very fast. In two weeks, it will be as big as your house."

Hagrid bit his lip.

"I—I know I can't keep it forever, but I can't just throw it away. I can't."

Harry then made a suggestion:
"Ron's brother Charlie is doing research in Romania. We might as well give Norbert to him. Charlie can take care of him and then release him back into the wild."

Hagrid was reluctant to accept this, but Harry and Ron had already noticed that his attitude was softening, so they thought that a few more attempts at persuasion would be enough to succeed.

But they didn't expect that Damon suddenly said:
"We can keep it in the Forbidden Forest."

The three little ones suddenly turned their heads to look at Damon, with expressions on their faces as if saying - Damon, are you crazy too?
Hagrid's expression also became interesting, and he hesitated and said:

"Is this possible? I'm afraid that all the creatures in the Forbidden Forest will be killed by the grown-up Norbert."

"Of course, before that, we must tame its wildness."

Damon grabbed the Norwegian Ridgeback from his shoulder and looked it in the eye, quietly increasing the strength in his palm.

"scare!!!"

The little dragon felt a little pain and let out an unhappy hiss. The look in his eyes when he looked at Damon was no longer as calm as before.

Amidst the exclamations of the crowd, it opened its mouth wide and bit Damon's palm!
