Hogwarts: Becoming the White Lord from Breathing
Chapter 80 That Place Is Not Home
Chapter 80 That Place Is Not Home
On the third day after Damon and Harry stayed at the Hog's Head Inn, Dumbledore came to them.
Harry was surprised when he opened the door and saw him. He didn't understand how the other party knew they were here?
What made him feel even more strange was that Dumbledore actually asked him to avoid the following conversation.
"Harry, would you mind giving us two a moment, master and disciple?"
"Master and apprentice—I mean, of course."
Harry's pupils narrowed and he stuttered in shock at the information Dumbledore seemed to have casually uttered.
"Thank you, you just need to wait at the door for a while."
Dumbledore closed the door, cast a soundproof spell, and looked at Damon, who was calm and composed.
"I didn't expect you to bring Harry out. Have you forgotten the 'magic of love' I mentioned to you?"
"I haven't forgotten that Harry has been living there for a month. Isn't that enough?"
".That's enough, but why would you do such a thing? I must remind you that Harry must regard that place as 'home', otherwise, this magic will no longer be effective."
Dumbledore sat opposite Damon and observed the expression of his disciple - just one month into the summer vacation, the boy had already done two things that surprised him so much that he found it difficult to accept.
Not only did he find Burns, bypass legal loopholes, learn Apparition in advance, but he also took Harry out of that house.
Both of these things hit the point that Dumbledore cared about.
"You think of a place like that as your home?" Damon laughed, his tone tinged with disdain. "Teacher, I'm sorry, my next words might be a bit harsh."
He looked Dumbledore straight in the eye. "I think you have lost all understanding of young people."
"Harry was treated as a servant there, cleaning the rooms, mowing the lawn, and not being able to use any of his own things.
The individual's will was completely restrained and locked in that damn basement.
You trampled on a teenager's self-esteem at an age when he cares most about dignity. The basement he lived in didn't even have a toilet. When he offended the Dursleys and was locked up, he was only allowed to go to the toilet three times a day, so he had to delay all his personal needs as much as possible.
He lived with rats and cockroaches in the basement, and his beloved pet owl was locked in a cage all day, without even a chance to go out and breathe.
Is this the home you were talking about?
I would never call a place like this home, but the spell is certainly still working, isn't it?"
Dumbledore did not respond immediately.
Damon didn't let him go. "As far as I know, you've been to the Dursleys' house before, but are you used to it? Do you think that this will make Harry easier to control?"
Or are these ten dark and difficult years for Harry justifiable for the sake of your supposed greater good? Professor, I'm afraid—"
"Stop! Stop talking!"
Dumbledore begged for mercy.
He found that he always seemed to be in the wrong in front of this disciple - why could he always see his own mistakes and point them out accurately?
"Damon, your words are sometimes like knives, sharp and direct." Dumbledore paused. "Of course, they are also effective."
He couldn't help but sigh in his heart.
Is this how young people talk? They cut straight to the chase, squaring off with no room for compromise, until one side completely dominates the other.
It was like the conversation they had had before.
At that time, they could argue for a point of view all day and all night without feeling tired.
"Have you told Harry about these things?"
"No, he doesn't need to endure this."
Dumbledore breathed a sigh of relief—which he did, letting out a deep breath.
He didn't expect that - he had come to Damon with a blaming attitude, but the conversation had just started, and the pace was so fast that his brain couldn't keep up - it wasn't that he couldn't think, but it was very difficult to force himself to correct his ideas, to immediately realize the mistakes in his thinking and correct them.
Fortunately, he is Dumbledore. "I was wrong."
This was Dumbledore's first words after a minute of contemplation.
After admitting this fact, he felt a little relieved, but the expression on his face was still a little "fearful".
“I seem to have unknowingly fallen into a trap I had foreseen – a trap I thought I had fully understood and a mistake I thought I could avoid.”
Dumbledore seemed to have aged.
Damon noticed his disappointment, sighed, stood up, and put his hand on his shoulder.
Dumbledore turned his head and looked at him, his expression a little depressed - he looked no different from an ordinary old man whose grandson had just died.
"Okay, don't take it too seriously. You still have me as your disciple, right? If you do something wrong, I'll tell you. Just correct it, won't that be fine?
"Admitting one's mistakes and correcting them is the greatest virtue. Have you heard this?"
"Is this the culture of that ancient Eastern country you were talking about?" Dumbledore smiled. "Looks like I'll have to learn about it sometime."
"Oh, no need. You're so busy. I can teach you."
Seeing that Dumbledore had cheered up again, Damon sat back in his seat, and the atmosphere between the two of them became much more relaxed.
"Well, since you came all the way here, you must have something else to talk about, right?"
"Actually, I just happened to be nearby, so I came to see you—but I think we don't have to avoid Harry for the rest of the conversation."
Dumbledore made the first change.
He opened the door and called Harry, who was staring blankly at the window at the door, into the room.
This made Harry nervous - what on earth were these two discussing in there?
When did Dumbledore take Damon in as his apprentice? Is that why Damon's spell skills are so advanced?
He couldn't wait to share all this with Hermione and Ron. After all, he couldn't come to any conclusions on his own.
"Sit down, Harry."
Dumbledore waved his wand, and a new chair spontaneously transformed next to the round table.
The three of them sat around.
Dumbledore spoke first:
"Harry doesn't have to stay at the Dursleys' house for a long time during future summer vacations, but he has to stay for at least half a month."
"real?!"
Harry didn't expect that he was involved in this, but this sudden accident made him ecstatic!
He had just sat down, but he almost jumped up from the chair. The happiness on his face was beyond words. He wanted to share it with the whole world, but the two people present seemed unable to understand his pain.
But he knew that all this must be related to Damon.
Harry remained ecstatic, just staring at Damon - he could not express his happiness and gratitude in words.
Dumbledore saw Harry's performance and while he was pleased, the light in his eyes seemed to become cloudy - as expected, this was really a very important matter.
But why did he subconsciously ignore this point before?
"Of course it's true." He smiled, "But that place is still your home, don't you understand?"
"I see!"
Harry nodded repeatedly. As long as he could avoid staying at the Dursleys' house, he would understand anything!
