Chapter 107 Simulated Battle "Weapon Master"

Chapter 107 Simulated Battle "Weapon Master"

He shrugged and said helplessly:

"When I encounter this kind of situation, I usually just keep honing the basics, letting my body memorize the feeling of each movement, until one day, something clicks. After all, true swordsmanship breakthroughs often come from a moment of enlightenment, not deliberate pursuit."

The blond boy's gaze became profound:
"In the royal family, some knights' swordsmanship remains at a passable level throughout their lives. It's not because they don't work hard, but because they lack the special experiences that can trigger enlightenment."

Ron nodded. Although he was not very satisfied with the answer, he knew that this was indeed the most realistic solution at the moment.

"It can only be worked out with great effort..." He sighed and decided to change his mind temporarily and focus on other things.

"By the way, Andre, didn't you promise to lend me 'Basics of Alchemy'? If it's convenient, could you give it to me now? I want to change my mindset and learn something new."

"Of course, I'll get it as soon as I get back." Andre agreed readily and then said goodbye and left.

About half an hour later, Andre came back with a thick leather-bound book.

The corners of the book were a little worn, and the gold-stamped writing on the cover had lost some of its luster, obviously having been read many times.

"Here, this is it." Andre handed the book to Ron, with a hint of regret in his eyes.

"Although it's an old book, its content is quite comprehensive and suitable for beginners. I spent a lot of time studying it at the beginning, but unfortunately, my talent is limited and I still couldn't get started."

Ron took the book, and the heavy weight made him feel the depth of knowledge.

He was about to take out the magic stone fragment to pay, but Andre waved his hand to indicate that it was not necessary.

"It's nothing. I bought these second-hand books anyway. They're of no use to me anymore."

The blond boy smiled and said with a hint of relief in his voice, "I don't have much talent in these wizarding arts anyway. Instead of letting them gather dust, I'd rather give them to you for research."

Ron nodded gratefully and didn't refuse any more.

He casually flipped open the book and a gust of dust blew in his face, causing him to sneeze.

Just as he was immersed in the preliminary reading of "Basics of Alchemy", Andre's eyes fell on the magic stone fragments on the table, and he suddenly remembered something.

"By the way, Ron. Speaking of alchemy, did you know there's a 'simulated battle device' within the school?"

"Simulated combat device?" Ron looked up, a little curious. "What is that?"

"I'm not entirely sure either. A senior told me this."

Andre tapped his forehead and recalled carefully:
"It seems to be a special device invented by the alchemists of the school. It can construct a simulated battlefield for the user's mind and generate preset opponents for combat training. It is said that... the experience is not much different from reality."

"Sounds amazing." Ron immediately became interested and put down the book in his hand: "Why have I never heard of this device?"

"Because almost no one uses it." Andre shrugged.

"The wizards in the school prioritize research and knowledge accumulation over actual combat training. Furthermore, the price of using it once is quite high, requiring thirty magic stone fragments, which is equivalent to half a month's salary at Madam Allen's."

"Thirty pieces of magic stone fragments?" Ron frowned slightly, but soon relaxed:
"For me now, this fee is acceptable, especially if it can help me break through the bottleneck in swordsmanship."

"Then let's go give it a try!" Andre said excitedly. "The device is on the third underground floor of the school's central tower. Few people go there normally. I've passed by there several times, and it's always empty."

Ron thought for a moment and decided to give it a try.

He has been stuck at the last step of swordsmanship for too long. If this simulated combat device can really provide a near-real combat experience, it might be the breakthrough opportunity he needs.

After everything was ready, the two came to the central tower of the school.

This towering black tower is the symbol of the entire Black Mist Jungle and one of the oldest buildings in the school.

Going down the spiral staircase and passing through several identification light screens, they finally arrived at the third underground floor.

The magic crystal lamps on both sides of the corridor emit a faint blue light, illuminating this almost forgotten area.

Dust floated in the air, and every step stirred up a small cloud of dust.

"This is it." Andre pointed to a heavy iron door engraved with runes. "The simulated battle room."

There was a thin layer of dust on the control console at the door, and it was obvious that no one had used it for a long time.

Ron gently brushed away the dust, revealing the operating interface underneath.

"Please invest the corresponding number of magic stone fragments and select the difficulty of the simulated battle and the type of opponent." The text on the console began to glow, and a virtual projection unfolded in the air.

Ron took out thirty pieces of magic stone fragments from his waist and placed them in the designated slots one by one.

As the last piece of magic stone was thrown in, the entire console suddenly lit up, and rune lines flowed on its surface like blood vessels, emitting bright light.

"Please select the type of simulated opponent." A mechanized voice sounded.

The projection showed dozens of different types of opponents, ranging from ordinary human soldiers to powerful alien extraordinary professionals.

Ron browsed through them and finally stopped at the option of "Tigerman-Weapon Master".

"The Tiger People are known for their strength and speed, and they have extensive combat experience. They should be a good opponent in actual combat."

Ron analyzed in his mind, "Let's choose this one."

"Please select the difficulty level." The mechanical voice sounded again.

Ron thought for a moment and chose the "hard" level.

Since the goal is to make a breakthrough, you shouldn't leave yourself too much leeway.

"Ron, are you sure?" Andre asked worriedly, seeing his choice.

"I saw the instructions above. The 'difficult' level is usually designed for advanced apprentices. It might be too dangerous for you."

"It doesn't matter. It's just a mock battle anyway. It won't be fatal."

Ron responded with a smile, but he felt a little uneasy.

But he clearly understood that the real breakthrough he was seeking now could only come from this extreme challenge.

"Setup complete, please enter the simulated battle room," a mechanical voice announced.

The iron door slowly opened, revealing an empty circular room.

In the center of the room was a huge magic circle, surrounded by twelve stone pillars engraved with runes.

"I'll wait for you outside." Andre patted Ron's shoulder: "Good luck."

Ron nodded and stepped into the room alone.

As he entered, the iron door slammed shut behind him, and the entire space instantly fell into darkness.

"The simulated battle is about to begin, please be prepared." The mechanical voice sounded again, but this time it seemed to echo directly in Ron's mind.

In the darkness, Ron could feel a powerful mental force scanning his consciousness and physical data.

The feeling was a little uncomfortable, but not painful. It was like being wrapped in an invisible stream of water, gently stirring his thoughts.

Suddenly, a dazzling light burst out from under his feet, enveloping the entire room.

Ron subconsciously closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, the scene in front of him had completely changed.

He found himself standing in the center of a large arena, surrounded by layers of spectator seats, but the seats were empty.

The sky was a strange purple-red color, the outlines of the mountains in the distance were clearly visible, and everything seemed so real.

"Is this a simulated battlefield?" Ron exclaimed, reaching out to touch the stone pillar beside him and feeling its real rough texture.

"The battle is about to begin." A mechanical voice came from the sky, "Please choose your weapon."

Following this voice, a row of weapon racks appeared out of thin air in front of him, with various weapons placed on them:
There are long swords, daggers, scimitars, spears, battle axes, maces...even strange weapons such as sickles and grappling hooks.

Ron chose a longsword of moderate weight without hesitation, which was closest to the ironwood sword he usually practiced with.

The sword emitted a cold light, and holding it in his hand gave him a strange sense of fit, as if it was made specifically for him.

"Your opponent is..." the mechanical voice dragged out its tone, with a certain deliberate drama: "The Tiger-Man Weapon Master—Axa!"
