Chapter 26 Marcus's threatening monster?
Chapter 26 Marcus's threatening monster?
Andre appeared at the door of the restaurant at some point. He still maintained his elegant aristocratic demeanor, but there was a hint of unquestionable majesty in his eyes.
The candidate apprentices looked at each other and soon dispersed tactfully.
Although secular noble status is not valuable here, as the thirteenth prince of the Farouk Kingdom, the power represented by Andre should not be underestimated, at least for them, the candidate apprentices.
"These guys..." Andre walked up to Ron and said with a chuckle:
"When Darende's strange change happened yesterday, everyone hid in their rooms and didn't even dare to open the door. Now they all come out to show their courtesy."
Ron nodded slightly. "I really have no interest in interacting with these people. Thank you for helping me out, Andre."
"Then let's go to a quiet place." Andre invited with a smile:
"I happen to have some freshly baked muffins over there. They're better than these brown breads."
The two came to Andre's room, which was obviously much better decorated than that of other candidate apprentices.
There were a few steaming muffins on a small table, and a pot of fragrant flower tea next to it.
"Speaking of which," Andre said with a smile as he poured tea for Ron:
"I didn't expect you to be able to defeat Darende, who had transformed into a monster, and you did it with a wooden sword. It's a pity I wasn't in the dormitory at the time, otherwise I should have come to help you."
Ron picked up his teacup and took a sip: "Just good luck."
"Luck?" Andre looked at him playfully.
"You're becoming more and more modest now. If you had achieved something like this back in the capital, you would have been bragging about it all over the city, right?"
Hearing this teasing, Ron shook his head helplessly: "That's all in the past."
"That's true." Andre took a bite of the muffin, a hint of inquiry flashing in his eyes.
"But honestly, the changes you've seen in this period are truly astonishing. You practice Coronary Breathing every day, spend time studying in the herbal medicine store, and now you've mastered the concept of sonic magic."
He paused, looking at Ron with a half-smile:
"If I hadn't seen you walk this path with my own eyes, I would have suspected that you were possessed by some powerful being."
"Possession?" Ron's heart moved, remembering his "dual soul" talent, but on the surface he remained calm and said:
"I just don't want to die here."
"Indeed." Andre's expression suddenly became serious. "But you have to be careful recently, especially with that Marcus."
Ron put down his teacup: "What do you mean?"
"That guy may be just an ordinary junior apprentice, but behind him stands an older brother, Oliver, who is about to break through and become a formal wizard."
The blond boy's voice became very low:
"In the academy, Oliver is a senior apprentice of the same level as Master Holt, and has made considerable achievements in the study of curse witchcraft."
He paused, as if choosing his words:
"It's precisely because of such a powerful backer that Marcus dares to act so recklessly. Most of the candidate apprentices he took as slaves became material for his brother's magical experiments."
Ron fell into deep thought. No wonder Emily suffered such a tragic end after joining Marcus. Perhaps the outcome was already doomed when she embarked on that path.
"So." Andre's tone became more serious:
"You've been attracting too much attention lately. Although Marcus is only a junior apprentice, his brother Oliver has been researching some extremely strange and special spells that seem to be related to mental energy extraction."
He said with a hint of meaning:
"With the talent and potential you've shown, you're likely to be targeted by the brothers. Even though Madam Allen and Lord Holt are here, we still have to be cautious."
"I understand." Ron nodded. He had long noticed that the apprentice who liked to collect "beautiful slaves" often gave him cold looks.
"But don't worry too much." Andre regained his elegant smile.
"With those two you know around, he probably wouldn't dare to act too brazenly. Besides."
He looked at Ron tentatively: "With the strength you've shown now, even if he really takes action, I'm afraid he won't get anything good."
Ron smiled and didn't continue the conversation. Instead, he asked about other things: "By the way, is there any new news from the market recently?"
"You mean those black market traders?" Andre shook his head. "Since the incident with Darende, they seem to have become much more restrained. However..."
He looked out the window with a deep gaze. "I'm afraid this peace won't last long. As the assessment deadline draws closer, those with nowhere else to turn will inevitably take risks."
"You're right." Ron looked at the gradually darkening sky outside the window and thought to himself.
Darende's case had a profound impact on him. Although his progress was going smoothly, time was still tight.
He needs to master the concept of sonic magic as soon as possible, while continuing to improve his abilities in other areas.
"It's getting late." Andre stood up: "You should still have your own things to do, right?"
Ron nodded and gathered his things to leave.
The next plan is to carefully study the notes left by Darend and try to advance this unfinished prototype of the sonic spell to a new level.
When they were at the door, Andre suddenly called out his name: "Ron."
"what happened?"
"You know what?" Andrei said with a playful smile, "Now I'm kind of glad that I didn't have any conflicts with you back in the capital."
Ron was stunned for a moment, then he understood what he meant.
"Don't worry, that dandy boy died on the way to the Black Mist Jungle." He half turned around and replied lightly.
"Yes." Andre looked at him meaningfully. "In its place, there's a terrifying monster that's hard to fathom."
Ron couldn't help but laugh when he heard this description: "Monster?"
This world is a place where the fittest survive. If you want to survive here, you might just have to turn into a monster.
He turned and left Andre's room. The corridor outside was already shrouded in dusk.
The chaotic shadows on the roadside, reflected in the dim skylight, looked like the claws of a ghost.
There were still some prying eyes from all around from time to time, but Ron no longer cared.
What he needs to do now is to continue to become stronger until he is strong enough to fully control his own destiny in this cruel world.
Any covetousness and calculation will become nothing in the face of power.
