Chapter 43 Allies
Chapter 43 Allies
Ron pondered for a moment, then stood up from his chair and patted Andre's shoulder:
"Don't be so dejected. I've never seen His Majesty the Thirteenth Prince look like this before."
He walked towards his cupboard, rummaging through it while jokingly saying, "If those girls in the capital who adore you saw your gloomy face right now, they would probably be heartbroken."
Andrei, who had been scowling, was amused by his joke: "Forget about those boring social occasions. They're all fake."
As he spoke, he shook his head, and the sadness in his eyes eased a little.
"Here, look at this." Ron took out an exquisite crystal bottle from the depths of the cupboard. It contained a faintly glowing blood-red liquid. He casually threw the bottle to Andre.
Andre caught it and almost dropped it: "Hey! Be careful, this is not a pinball game."
He raised the bottle curiously to the light. "What is this? It smells a bit like... liquor?"
"Ha! If strong liquor could be sold for five magic stone fragments a bottle, I would have opened a tavern long ago."
Ron grinned slightly and said, "This is the 'Qi and Blood Potion' I made yesterday under the guidance of Mrs. Allen. It's specially designed for knights to practice."
Andre's eyes lit up instantly. "Are you kidding? I know this kind of potion, but you can't buy it at the market!"
He carefully examined the liquid in the bottle. "Wait... you can really refine something of this level? Your progress is astonishing. From a candidate apprentice with sixth-class aptitude to now... you're like two completely different people."
"Come on, you don't really think I'm a monster, do you?" Ron took out a few small bottles of different colors from the cupboard and placed them casually on the table:
"Look, these are my latest 'masterpieces'. The blue one can stabilize mental fluctuations, and the green one can relieve meridian pain..."
He picked up a bottle of transparent potion and shook it. "This treasure is particularly effective for breathing exercises. It can increase efficiency by at least 30%."
Andre reached out to take a look at it, but Ron slapped him away: "Don't touch it, this is my treasured collection. Each bottle costs about ten magic stone fragments."
"You weren't so stingy before." He pretended to complain, but his eyes were shining with anticipation: "Is it really that magical?"
"Would you like me to try it?" Ron raised an eyebrow. "Take a bottle back later. I guarantee your breathing technique will improve dramatically."
Andre blinked and asked cautiously, "Tell me what conditions you need first. Although we have a good relationship, I don't want to sell my ass."
"Go to hell, I don't have that kind of disgusting habit." Ron smiled and shook his head, then stepped forward and punched Andre, almost making him stagger.
"As for you, you really grew up in the palace. You are so vigilant."
He put away the potion bottles and suddenly dropped his joking expression. "By the way, Andre, Mrs. Allen promised to teach me the Gem-level Meditation Method after I break through."
Andre's smile froze. "What did you say? Gem-level meditation?"
Seeing that Ron didn't seem to be joking, he was so surprised that he could hardly speak. "Oh my God! She actually has... Aren't those the core knowledge that the school guards very closely?"
"The condition is that I help her collect some special materials." Ron shrugged. "To be honest, the things on the list are not easy to get, but this is a rare opportunity, so I decided to give it a try."
"You know, Ron," Andre shook his head and sighed, "I'm starting to regret thinking of you as just a playboy. If I'd known you had this potential..." "Don't overthink it." Ron waved his hand, recalling the places they'd been together. "I was a real jerk back then. All I wanted was drinking and having sex."
The two of them laughed at the same time, and the atmosphere suddenly became a lot more relaxed.
"Honestly." Andre put away his smile and looked at Ron seriously: "If you can really help me through this difficult time, I'm willing to be your guard knight."
Ron was drinking his tea and raised his eyebrows in interest when he heard this: "Are you serious?"
"I've never been more serious than I am now." Andre's eyes were determined. "I would rather follow a familiar friend than be treated as a plaything by that crazy woman."
He chuckled self-deprecatingly. "Anyway, I'm already a failure in the eyes of the royal family. But my knightly talent is quite good. Following you... at least I can still maintain my dignity, right?"
Ron put down his teacup, his expression becoming serious. "Then I'll have to send you off without further ado, but here's a suggestion you can consider—strengthen your knightly prowess."
"What do you mean?"
"Imagine this." He tapped his fingers on the table:
"If you can break through and become a formal knight, your status in front of the royal family will be different. Even your brothers and sisters will have to be polite to a formal knight, right?"
Andre felt like he had found a solution. "You're quite quick-witted, man! Indeed, official knights have an independent status in the kingdom. Even the royal family can't just appoint them casually."
"So." Ron smiled proudly:
"I'll provide you with the medicine, and you can focus on your cultivation without any delay."
"Wait..." Andre looked at him suspiciously. "What do you mean by pharmaceutical support? I know very well that these things are expensive."
"You can find the materials yourself, and I'll give you a discount on the refining fee." Ron blinked and weighed the magic stone bag at his waist. "Friendship price, slightly cheaper than the market price."
"You kid!" Andre scolded with a smile, "Now you really know how to do business, but..."
His expression turned serious. "I accept this deal. I'll help you gather intelligence and supplies, and I'll be on call when there's a battle or errands to run. You'll help me improve my strength. It's fair and reasonable."
"That's settled then!" Ron held out his hand.
Andre shook his hand, and they smiled at each other: "Deal!"
"Oh, right." Ron suddenly remembered something. "That Cynthia you were talking about, isn't she the one who particularly likes wearing purple dresses and always speaks with a Southern accent?"
"You know her?" Andre asked in surprise.
"Of course I don't know her." Ron smiled mysteriously, "But I heard her name from Mrs. Allen. It seems that she took a potion with the wrong properties some time ago and almost poisoned herself to death."
Andre's eyes widened: "Is this true?"
"Absolutely true." Ron spread his hands. "Mrs. Allen even muttered something like 'big-breasted, brainless idiot'."
