Chapter 1506 Review of "I Am the Number One Immortal of the Tang Dynasty"
Today I'm going to talk about a new book.
"I Am the Number One Immortal of the Tang Dynasty", by Yan Guizhengzhuan.
Summary:
This is a lighthearted, comedic fantasy novel with a satirical tone. It's not a historical story, so please don't mind the deliberately exaggerated details.
The full synopsis is longer than this; I'll post a screenshot later so you can see it clearly. I quoted this sentence mainly to express that the book's tone is comedic fantasy.
Recommended reason:
Let's mainly talk about the flaws; I've noticed that people prefer watching that.
First, the book title.
I think it's just average. The titles of his books are generally rather ordinary, except for *Walking Alone in the Abyss*. The title completely reveals the basic plot: the protagonist will become the number one immortal in the Tang Dynasty. It might attract some readers interested in Tang Dynasty history, and some who enjoy fantasy novels, but its most important base is still his die-hard fans. It's said that these die-hard fans were quite disappointed by his previous works; whether he can maintain this base is really uncertain.
Secondly, there is an introduction.
Judging from the screenshots (pretending there really are images here), it's a basic premise about time travel and games, without any particularly novel or outlandish innovations. I personally find it perfectly acceptable, largely due to my basic trust in a top-tier platinum author who's only been around for a few years. This should align with the starting point of most readers; even if it's just for the sake of being a featured author of a new book, it's worth reading.
Next is the story content.
I can proudly announce that I have finished reading every chapter of this book. Although my memory hasn't been great lately, and I'm too lazy to write scripts when making videos, I can usually still remember some of the plot. For example, the protagonist's name is Li Zhenyi, and in his previous life he was a game review blogger. After painstakingly writing a game review, his residence was struck by a meteorite, and he was the only one who tragically died. He then transmigrated into the game he reviewed, becoming a young boy, and an orphan at that.
For his mission, he infiltrated a brothel, but before he could even begin, the entire place was suddenly taken over by mysterious figures, and he was locked in the woodshed, where he encountered a talkative young maid. Then the brothel was attacked, and the protagonist was stopped. Although he managed to escape, he was poisoned and pursued by hidden weapons. This made the protagonist realize that to survive in this world, he needed real skills.
At first, he only carried a useless attribute panel with him; he couldn't add points, couldn't predict danger, and could only view his own and others' attributes. However, the game continuously issued newbie quests, allowing the protagonist to directly advance to the second or third level of Qi Refining, becoming a true cultivator.
He descended from the sky, officially intervening in the assassination attempt, using the Five Thunderbolts Technique more than ten times to brutally kill the enemy and scare away the others. However, after the battle, he realized that he had driven away people from the Tang Dynasty and rescued people the Demonic Sect was protecting. Although slightly embarrassed, the protagonist understood one thing: his status as a cultivator was extremely noble, and those people, whether on the side of good or evil, were merely using minor skills that martial artists had comprehended through internal cultivation after the revival of spiritual energy.
Therefore, his existence inevitably attracted the attention of various forces. The Demonic Sect even resorted to a honey trap, but the protagonist always believed that this was just a game world, and improving his strength was the key. He didn't want any flaws in the romance aspect. At the same time, I also suspect that the author doesn't have the same integrity as the young master and won't easily write a harem novel. Friends who have read the author's previous works can give me a heads-up on whether my suspicion is reasonable and correct.
Gui Gui, you can't even write harem novels!
Of course, the references and humor are still as entertaining as ever. Compared to "Lord of the Galaxy" which I introduced yesterday, this is Gui Gui's new book for me. Life is tough, and I desperately need some lighthearted entertainment. What do you guys think?
【to sum up】
Writing is not easy, so cherish every moment.
