【Golden Ten Chapters】
Chapter 1: The Paper Man. During the Republican era, the protagonist's grandfather, Hu Guohua, was an idler with a few jobs. To defraud his uncle of money, he bought a paper man. Unexpectedly, the man came to life, possessed by a ghost. However, the ghost claimed to be rich.
Chapter 2: Rat Friends. Hu Guohua's conspiracy was exposed, angering his uncle to death and causing his relatives to shun him. After pawning his mother's dowry, he happily began smoking opium. A rat even joined him. Later, when he was short of money, the rat would bring him silver coins. Over time, the man and the rat developed a close relationship. Later, the rat was scalded to death by a fellow village scoundrel, and Hu Guohua hacked him dozens of times. The incident was reported to the security team, and Hu Guohua was not only spared but also drafted into the army.
Chapter Three: A Haunted Graveyard. Hu Guohua's army was quickly disbanded. Returning home, he remembered the grave the ghost had mentioned and coveted the money she offered, only to be possessed by her. Fortunately, he encountered a renowned Taoist priest who not only subdued the ghost but also taught him the "Sixteen-Character Secret of Yin and Yang Feng Shui." Life gradually improved, and his son became an officer. After the turmoil, his grandson, Hu Bayi, ultimately chose to serve as an educated youth in Inner Mongolia, accompanied by Fatty Wang.
Chapter 4: Ancient Tomb in the Mountains. During their time as educated youth in Inner Mongolia, Hu Bayi and Fatty Wang also experienced a thrilling adventure: they were chased into a tree by a bear. For unknown reasons, Hu Bayi disappeared and, along with another educated youth, stumbled upon Wong Tai Sin's territory, where they spent an evening listening to shadow puppetry.
Chapter 5: The Unfrozen Springs of Khampa and Kunlun Mountains. Hu Bayi returns home to visit his family, but his father uses his connections to enlist him in the army, sending him to dig caves in the Kunlun Mountains. Compared to his years as an educated youth, his military career is a hundred times more arduous.
Chapter 6: One Hundred Skins of Beautiful Women. Before the digging mission even begins, Hu Bayi, in the army, is urged by his comrades to tell everyone a story about the skins of beautiful women. This story has been edited, so the reading experience isn't very pleasant.
Chapter 7, The Great Glacier. The next day, the troops set out for the Great Glacier. A female engineer accompanying them accidentally fell off the glacier. They were attacked by mysterious blue bugs that instantly incinerated them. To avoid triggering an avalanche, they couldn't fire their weapons, resulting in numerous casualties.
Chapter 8: Avalanche. The worst happened. Someone panicked and fired a gun, triggering a massive avalanche that buried the remaining people in the snow. But they survived and found a way out.
Chapter 9, Nine-Storied Demon Tower. They followed a crevice through the mountains and entered a mysterious place. Inside was a nine-story demon tower engraved with Tibetan inscriptions, said to be the tomb of the demon king. To avoid the little blue beetle, they planned to escape along the underground river.
Chapter 10: Underground Lake. They used grenades to drive away the fire beetles, then jumped into a river and followed the current into an underground lake. A huge black shadow chased them from the lake; it turned out to be a man-eating giant salamander.
【Brief Comment】
About the Author
Tianxia Bachang, whose real name is Zhang Muye, is from Tianjin. He is known as the most imaginative writer in China. His representative work, the "Ghost Blows Out the Light" series of novels, was once very popular, which led to the popularity of "tomb-raiding" novels.
The American "Time" magazine commented: The rich and full imagination of "Ghost Blows Out the Light" has become its most impressive aspect.
summary of the story
This is the first volume. The original version does not separate the volume titles, so it looks a bit messy.
The actual stories included are: Jingjue Ancient City, Longling Mystery Cave, Yunnan Worm Valley and Kunlun Temple.
The stories in the second part include: Yellow Skin Tomb, Return to the South China Sea, Angry and Cloudy Xiangxi, Coffin Mountain in Wu Gorge, Searching for the Holy Spring, Fuxian Poison, Monster Tomb in the Mountains and Seas, and Mysterious Tomb in Xiangxi.
The four stories in the first part have been adapted into films and television series and have been put on the big screen, with very good reviews. Especially Chen Kun's Hu Bayi, who is so handsome!
Baby’s Queen of Jingjue is also amazing!
In the recently popular TV series "Longling Mystery Cave", Pan Yueming's role as Hu Bayi also has some flavor.
But compared with Chen Yulou in the "The Wrath of the West Hunan" period, he has gained weight again.
Style characteristics
The "Ghost Blows Out the Light" series has a very bold style and a strong story, with many plots beyond the imagination of ordinary people.
"The king of heaven covers the earth, and the pagoda suppresses the river monster!"
The seal of the hill, the gold-touching talisman, the art of moving mountains and hills to find the dragon;
People light candles, ghosts blow out lamps, and they search for stars and peaks;
Mercury spots, funerary objects, dragon towers and palaces are gone innumerable;
There is a sunken coffin and a bronze coffin. If you don't have a strong character, don't come near it.
Vertical burial pits, box graves, moving mountains and unloading ridges to walk around;
The red clothes are fierce, and the corpse is smiling. It is better to listen to ghosts cry than to laugh.
"To find the dragon and divide the gold, look at the winding mountains. Each winding is a barrier. If the barrier has eight dangers, it will be the Yin and Yang Bagua."
These popular quotes add a lot of literary charm to the original work.
【to sum up】

【Cang's Ramblings】
In fact, in my heart, the "Ghost Blows Out the Light" series is better than the "Grave Robbers' Chronicles" series.
However, due to some reasons, Tianxia Bachang's popularity was not as good as Nanpai Sanshu's for a period of time.
The reason why I put "Grave Robbers' Chronicles" above is purely because in the collection list of suspense category, the number of collections of "Grave Robbers' Chronicles" is almost twice that of "Ghost Blows Out the Light".
Compared with the original novel, the plot of the first part of "Ghost Blows Out the Light" is lost too seriously and is a bit confusing.
Even the second part is missing a lot of details.
All these lead to the fact that we are a little weak in collection.
But in terms of story, fun, logic and completeness, "Ghost Blows Out the Light" is indeed much better.
However, the character of Brother Zhang Qiling adds a lot of color to the original work.
All in all, these two series are both outstanding representatives of tomb-raiding novels, and there is no need to worry too much about their slight pros and cons.
As readers and viewers, it is enough as long as we can understand something from the work.
It's just reading, the important thing is to have fun.
Finally, let me think about how to proceed with this series.
If dear readers have any good suggestions, you can leave a message to give me some guidance.
If you also like this book, remember to collect and subscribe.
