Group A, being relatively intelligent, almost falls for the trick. Group D, however, remains intact. The protagonist's escape looks promising.

Chapter 10, Night Owl. The protagonist, infiltrating Group A, swipes their card and escapes the base, imprisoning the other inmates. Hela receives a report from the base and is forced to return with the Night Owl team to pursue them. At night, the protagonist is sniped, and the Night Owl team proves quite capable.

I haven't played the game "Star Ocean" in this book, so I don't know which game to compare it with.
