Chapter 53 The Beginning of Chaos and Disruption
Chapter 53 The Beginning of Chaos and Disruption
Honglian pushed through the crowd and ran out of the zoo, ignoring the surprised looks from those around her, and ran desperately towards the botanical garden.
They all fell into a trap, a trap specifically set for the maintenance agency!
The masked woman will never appear.
What the other party wants is this endless stream of spectators... but the real stage is not in front of the panda pavilion!
"Red Lotus! Where have you been?" the captain called out.
"The enemy's objective is to infiltrate the botanical garden! On my way to the west gate, I'm instructing the rest of the team to intercept the remaining three gates, block off the surrounding roads, and order the local population to evacuate immediately!" Honglian said in one breath.
"Impossible, this is something only the government can do."
"Then use your connections to get the government to do it! I know people with those connections in government agencies!"
Captain Wan was silent for a few seconds. "Are you sure this series of erosions was caused by the masked woman?"
Honglian had already passed through the west gate and was only about 400 meters away from the coordinates. "I'm sure of it! If there's any mistake, I'm willing to take full responsibility!"
"Are you the captain or am I?" Wan Chongshan clicked his tongue. "I'm the only one in charge. Did you all hear that? Go to the botanical garden now to support Honglian. You must stop the expansion of the intrusion point."
"Yes!" Wang Baihu and the others responded in unison.
"Ang ang ang ang ang——————————"
Suddenly, a strange cry swept across the air above the botanical garden.
It was a sound that Honglian had never heard before, like the roar of some kind of giant beast, but she couldn't associate it with any creature.
Her premonition grew increasingly ominous.
After passing two more scenic spots, we came to the "Great Forest," a flat and wide slope planted with vegetation that resembled a tropical rainforest, which was also the location indicated by the coordinates.
But before she could even reach the edge of the slope, her feet suddenly began to tremble.
It looked as if ten dump trucks were moving in parallel!
Oh!
The surrounding trees crashed down with a series of snapping sounds, and a massive, four-legged creature burst forth from within. It was roughly four stories tall, and each leg was as long as an adult human torso!
Although it was the first time Honglian had ever seen such a creature in person, she quickly connected it with a type of ancient animal from her memory.
Dinosaur!
Then came the second, and the third! These enormous creatures howled as they pushed aside the trees blocking their path, as if they were in a panic. Fortunately, judging from their long, thin necks and thick legs, they were herbivorous dragons.
After the large herbivorous dinosaur cleared a path, several more dinosaurs with fleshy fins on their backs emerged from behind. Their heads were more pointed, and their bodies were much lower and crouching, making them resemble giant lizards as they crawled.
What kind of dragon is this?
Honglian didn't recognize it, but she was certain she had seen something similar in dinosaur movies!
What gave her even more chills was that there were also tourists in the botanical garden, just far fewer than in the zoo. Now, all these tourists were drawn by the unusual commotion, and upon seeing that it was a dinosaur, their first thought wasn't to run away, but to take out their phones to take pictures!
She didn't try to dissuade him, because she knew that verbal persuasion would have little effect.
The only way to prevent disasters is to eliminate the source!
Crimson Lotus nimbly weaved through the running dragons and plunged into the dense forest. But this forest seemed extremely deep, and the intertwined branches and green leaves overhead became even denser, so the sunlight no longer shone directly down, but instead filtered through the gaps, casting thin beams of light.
After running for about two minutes along the dinosaur footprints and the remains of shattered trees, she finally heard something different.
"Roar! Howl!"
"Run faster... I'll give you meat if I catch up with you."
"Ow!"
The sound is right in front of my right!
Honglian immediately adjusted her direction and rushed towards the sound. She had only taken a dozen steps when the surroundings suddenly opened up, like the fisherman from Wuling County in the Peach Blossom Spring who had passed through a mountain cave and arrived at a secluded paradise. The entire vista became open and pleasant. The forest was gone, replaced by a vast meadow, a stream flowing across the ground, birds and beasts playing by the water's edge, and in the distance, a herd of migrating dragons could be seen.
Looking closer, she discovered a concrete bungalow at the foot of the hillside, standing out starkly from the surrounding scenery. A sign hung next to the door read: Rainforest Service Area.
In front of the house, a tall, colorful-haired woman wearing a mask was using beef jerky to lure a short-clawed dinosaur, almost as tall as herself, to circle repeatedly in front of the door, seemingly playing some interesting game. The house indicated that the area still belonged to the botanical garden.
However, the surrounding space has completely merged with another world.
This is a more advanced form of intrusion point; it may have started out as something closely associated with a door in a service area, but now it has evolved into part of the rainforest.
Despite the utter absurdity of the scene before her, she had to accept this conclusion: the wanderer causing the invasion point to expand was a dinosaur. But it wasn't the culprit; the woman who led it to repeatedly cross the boundary was the real culprit—she clearly knew this, and with seemingly innocent actions, she was secretly committing the most heinous crime!
She is committing a crime against the entire human world!
After the biting chill came an indescribable rage. Honglian could no longer control her emotions. She rushed down the slope, pulled out a specially designed pistol from her waist, and fired several shots at the woman and the dinosaur.
However, the bullets with tranquilizer darts attached failed to hit the opponent.
Two swords of energy blocked the path of the shot, just as they had when facing Joan of Arc in the dungeon.
Honglian instantly realized—it's that person again!
The masked woman and the swordsman were actually in cahoots!
Before she could use her ability to castle and get closer to the house, a third and fourth sword of energy appeared one after another. One was aimed at the spot where the bullet landed, while the other was aimed directly at her hands, blocking all her attack routes.
Honglian was no longer as elegant as she had been during their first encounter, dodging repeatedly. In her haste, she was forced to roll backward, getting covered in mud and having her pistol shattered by the sword.
She broke out in a cold sweat.
If it had been just 0.2 seconds slower, it probably wouldn't have been the gun barrel that shattered, but her hands!
The opponent has clearly improved as well; now, both the speed of their sword swings and the power of their strikes are far more lethal than before!
What's even more infuriating is that the person never showed up. After forcing her back, only four swords of energy remained floating in mid-air, separating her from the woman.
Honglian roared in fury, "Do you know what you're doing?"
The woman glanced at her sideways, her sharp pupils unwavering. "Of course I know. Because it's the only right thing to do."
The moment the words left his mouth, the other person vanished without a trace.
The sword energy also vanished, as if the battle had just ended in a nightmare. The only thing left on the scene was the dinosaur with a blank expression.
At that moment, a buzzing sound came from above.
Honglian looked up and saw a helicopter circling overhead, its crew clearly taking pictures in their direction. From an aerial perspective, this area looked like a giant "spatial rift," merging two completely different landscapes together; it would be strange if they weren't drawn in.
She knew perfectly well that the presence of the helicopter was irrelevant. The fact that the enemy had set up a secondary stage next door had already attracted far too much attention. Sooner or later, the numerous drones and even passing satellites would be watching this distorted space.
This isn't the first time something like this has happened; for example, the last mirage incident was similar, but that intrusion didn't last long, and there was no way to get in from the outside. Now, the intrusion is happening on the ground, and a group of dinosaurs has escaped. Even if the logistics team tries their best, they probably won't be able to keep it a secret.
Therefore, it is highly likely that the ambush that occurred in the abandoned clubhouse was also carried out by these two individuals.
Honglian felt furious; she had been led by the nose the whole time!
At the same time, many questions kept bombarding her mind—
Predicting and detecting intrusion points is something only government agencies can do. How could they know in advance?
Allowing erosion to expand will only bring more chaos and destruction to the world, so what good will that do them?
And that "Of course I know" from her made it sound like she was the only one who knew the truth about the world!
This is simply unreasonable!
"My God...where are we?"
"Could this be time travel? This place is so beautiful!"
A series of exclamations of surprise came from passersby behind them.
Honglian looked back and saw that they were clearly tourists from the vicinity of the "Great Forest". They had recovered from their initial shock and stepped into this scenic area, which exuded an incredible aura, with great curiosity.
With dinosaurs still roaming outside and crowds of onlookers thronging the zoo, the situation was spiraling out of control. Honglian realized that for the Limitation Agency, this might just be a sudden and unexpected blow, but for the entire world, it was the beginning of chaos and upheaval.
