Chapter 33. Achieving the Dao of Taiyi

Sensing that Ji Yuan had attained enlightenment, Laozi and Yuanshi Tianzun, who already had a good impression of him, naturally came to check on him.

Seeing that Ji Yuan was completely unprepared to comprehend the Dao in this primordial world, and that he had only slightly released his aura, those around him who had any designs on Ji Yuan immediately retreated. After all, the power of a sage was not something they could withstand.

Laozi and Yuanshi Tianzun did not reveal themselves; only a soft shout echoed in the air.
"good!"

Then the two auras dissipated.

Ji Yuan was a little confused by the situation. He thought that his two senior uncles would come out to see him or give him some pointers, but they left without saying anything.

"It must be that my two senior masters are busy."

Ji Yuan thought to himself, "To have two sages take time out of their busy schedules to protect me is truly a sign of great favor."

However, he had no time to think further. Auspicious clouds filled with good fortune floated in from the sky, and several streams of merit fell into Ji Yuan's spiritual platform.

All living beings who witnessed this were filled with awe:
"A meritorious deed by Heaven!"

They only knew that a being had attained enlightenment here, but they did not know why it had gained the merits of the Heavenly Dao, which they truly envied.

While Ji Yuan was accumulating the merits of the Heavenly Dao, Laozi and Yuanshi Tianzun were quietly watching from Kunlun Mountain.

Seeing that Ji Yuan had gained merit again, the Primordial Heavenly Lord exclaimed in surprise:
"Tongtian's disciple not only has amazing luck, but his comprehension is also truly extraordinary."

Lao Tzu nodded, stroked his beard, and said:

"Indeed, I have benefited greatly from the enlightenment that Ji Yuan has gained."

Yuanshi Tianzun nodded and said, "His path is extraordinary, which is in harmony with my path from 'nothingness' to 'somethingness', and also with Tongtian's path from 'somethingness' to 'nothingness'."

"But it seems that his approach is more similar to Tongtian's."

At this point, Yuanshi Tianzun showed a hint of regret on his face and sighed:
"It's a pity I didn't accept my junior sister when she brought her to my sect, otherwise Tongtian wouldn't have taken her in."

"Tongtian doesn't teach properly, letting people travel around every day. What a pity, what a pity."

Laozi laughed heartily. Although he also felt some regret, Ji Yuan's Dao also evolved into Taiji, dividing Yin and Yang and explaining the Four Symbols. It was somewhat consistent with his Dao, yet also had many variations, which gave him some inspiration.

Of course, he still had to save face for his elder brother, so he offered some words of comfort:

"The word 'fate' is so mysterious; it cannot be forced."

He originally planned to refine the myriad thunderbolts to comprehend the myriad paths and thus cultivate the Dao of Taiyi. However, he never expected that lighting up the diagram in one go would take away his years of hard work. It can only be said that having a cheat code makes one willful.

Having become familiar with the Eight Trigrams of the Earlier Heaven, which explain the origins of the universe and the evolution of all things, greatly enhances one's understanding of divination and prediction.

Suddenly, Ji Yuan's heart skipped a beat.

"Am I stealing Fuxi's merits?"

“I am the ancestor of mankind, so what if I steal it? Besides, there are still sixty-four hexagrams waiting for him.”

"Furthermore, it seems that Fuxi attained enlightenment through the merits of humanity, while I attained it through the merits of heaven. Perhaps there is a difference between the two?"

Shaking his head to clear his mind, Ji Yuan rode the wind westward. His first goal was to obtain the essence of innate Geng metal, and then find the essence of innate Wu earth, after which he could begin his breakthrough to the Great Luo realm.
