Chapter 42 "Monster Blood, It's Good Stuff"
But this wasn't a question a soldier should be thinking about. They stared at the coordinates on the map, connecting the bombing paths.
After a long sigh of relief, the drivers began operating the dashboard covered with a dense array of buttons and switches.
In just a few minutes, they arrived at the first starting area of the bombing route.
"We have reached the starting point of the bombing route, the bomb bay door has been opened, and we are beginning to descend."
The pilots began reporting data to the personnel on the other end of the communicator during the briefing.
The massive stratosphere B-52 bomber fortress began to slowly break through the clouds and descend. The deafening roar of the aircraft engines gradually carried from the sky to the ground.
With the arrival of these bombers, various satellites that were focused on the entire Edo area were also redirected, with most of them beginning to focus on this vicinity.
Then all the countries with satellites were shocked, because the monster produced by the biotechnology researched by Japan was exposed directly to the broadcasts of all military satellites.
Upon seeing this scene, the Japanese prime minister seemed to lose all his strength, slumping listlessly on the steps.
He never imagined things would turn out this way; everything was such a coincidence.
And especially when, a few minutes later, the armored men who had caused all this had swept away their carefully cultivated biological weapons like tigers descending a mountain, the prime minister's eyes rolled back and he fainted.
The hidden seraphim instantly forgot about their concealment and looked up behind them.
However, due to their current hiding place, most of their view was completely blocked by the mountains and forests.
As the bomb bay of the B52 slowly opened, the bombardment indicator light instantly changed from yellow to green, and the bombardier who was observing the bombardment indicator immediately pressed the switch.
One after another, huge aerial bombs began to spin sideways, detaching from their mounting frames and crashing into the lush forest below.
The scream of the rapidly falling bombs rang out, causing Quan Tiehua, who couldn't see the specifics, to change his expression.
"Oh no, they're about to bomb this mountain area!" Without bothering to hide himself, he suddenly stood up, attracting the attention of the monsters below who were still looking up at the sky.
"Run! Get into that experimental base!" With that, he brandished his power sword and leaped down the hillside, sliding towards the monster in the valley that had discovered the Seraphim.
They roared and charged up the hillside.
Quan Tiehua wasn't going to stand idly by; he was the first Astartes to directly confront the monsters. With a swift swing of his power sword, several monsters were sliced into two pieces of flesh of varying shapes. The metal shields covering their limbs and heads began to be exposed. Upon closer inspection, they turned out to be brain-shaped tissues with the blue blood of the monsters.
And as they rolled out and were exposed to the air, they even emitted a muffled thumping sound, similar to a heartbeat.
"This is practically alien technology!" Quilstein shook his head in disgust as he looked at the rudimentary yet ingenious biotechnology hidden among the mangled corpses after catching up. He had initially thought these monsters, with their imposing stature and armored bodies reminiscent of those armored Jaeger pilots, would at least hold their own against Astartes, if not more powerful. But who would have imagined they were such pathetic beings?
With melee weapons, a few swings are enough to take one down.
These monsters are like zombies; even if parts of their bodies are blown off, they don't die immediately and will continue to attack. Even if the main brain at the head is blown off, it doesn't die. This is because the four secondary brains at the joints of the limbs immediately take over command, directing the limbs to attack Astartes.
But for the Seraphim at this moment, it didn't matter anymore. All they needed to do was cut these monsters into pieces that posed no threat to them, regardless of whether they were still alive or not.
Quan Tiehua was the first to rush to the base gate, drew the plasma pistol that was already fully charged from his waist, and fired a loyal plasma shot into the dark tunnel filled with the monster's roar.
The pitch-black tunnel was completely dark, and it was impossible for humans to see the terrifying monsters inside.
But the Astartes saw it all clearly, yet they showed no fear. Quan Tiehua and several veteran soldiers stood in a line at the front, like a shield wall equipped with bulldozers.
They advanced steadily forward, simultaneously slashing with their swords and slamming down with their fists.
The monster roared and screamed, and blue blood, shimmering with a faint glow, sprayed everywhere.
Even occasionally, a plasma attack that dispelled the darkness of the entire passage would explode among the monsters.
To deal with ordinary people or even mortals, they only need to throw a punch or wave their hand.
But for Astartes, it was simply a matter of throwing a few more punches and expending a little more effort.
Even these monsters are not as cunning as those chickens in the bottom of the nest.
“Brother, we detected that the blood contained within these alien bio-weapons is highly corrosive. It won't cause much damage to our terracotta armor. However, if there's too much of this liquid, it could cause some structural damage to our current base.” A pharmacist quickly analyzed the composition and effects of the bio-blood samples.
"Furthermore, it seems to contain some energy, but we need specialized instruments to analyze it and mix it with other materials to determine the exact potential energy it can unleash! If possible, perhaps we can supply it ourselves after returning to the Empire!"
Quilstein crushed a monster's skull with a stomp, then suddenly leaned in and asked, "Highly corrosive? That's really good stuff!"
As he spoke, ignoring the roaring monsters rushing towards him, he smeared some blue blood on the wounds of a trampled corpse on the ground, watching the blood glow in the darkness.
"If this were made into a biological grenade..." He then turned to the pharmacist who was still analyzing the sample, "or added to a flamethrower..."
The pharmacist brother felt the gaze, looked up, and immediately seemed to realize something. He then said sternly, "Brother Quillstein, given the current situation and the lack of clear data, please do not test those strange ideas in your head."
Quilstein nodded silently, but what he was thinking beneath his helmet was anyone's guess.
