Chapter 101 Medicine and Wine
"Are you really not going to return the magic stone?" Ruger looked at the old wizard apprentice sitting on the recliner beside him.
"Mr. Ruge, have you really learned that zero-ring spell?" The old man said this without even looking over here. His attitude and behavior fully explained what he was thinking.
Looking at him like this, Ruger had another doubt in his mind.
"So you didn't come here just to bask in the sun?" said Ruger.
The old man deliberately pondered for a moment, as if making some important decision.
"I heard about your visit to the arena. If you're truly a wild wizard, you must be a genius, so I decided to come and take a look," the old man said seriously. "You're a lucky little fellow. If you give me another thousand magic stones, I can stay and teach you for three days. This will give you a better chance of learning that spell."
Ruger looked at the old drunkard and felt that he was more and more unreliable. He even felt that the spell might not have come from him. Even if he had spent his whole life researching it, if he insisted that this old guy had any connection with the spell, perhaps only his stinginess was quite consistent.
"I like to challenge difficult spells slowly by myself. It's a kind of enjoyment. It would be even better if I can never solve it." Ruger said with a smile and stuffed another fruit into his mouth.
He just thought about it and decided not to reveal that he had mastered the art of being stingy.
Maybe this is also a kind of stinginess.
The old man stared, not in surprise, but in anger.
Seeing this, Ruger smiled, took out the worn book and placed it on the small round table with fruit between the two of them.
"If you feel bad about losing your brainchild, you can take it away. I have memorized all the contents and have a copy for backup," said Ruger.
The old drunkard watched him put the things on the table and then let out a short burp, as if all his energy had gone away with the burp.
"It's better to leave it with you! It's useless for me to take it back," the old man said with a smile. "You are such a stingy fellow, boy. Perhaps one day you will succeed. Of course, there is another way that will definitely lead to success."
Luger looked at the old man, thinking about what he had said before.
"You mean the Soul Potion?" said Ruger.
The old drunkard had said before that he knew about what happened to him in the arena. Now he appeared here again. Maybe he knew that he won a bottle of spiritual heart potion and thought that he had a greater chance of success, so he wanted to come here to give him some guidance.
The more he thought about it, the more he felt that this was the case. Ruger sighed in his heart, wondering how much this old guy wanted his magic to be passed down.
"Hey, those uninformed wizards don't know what the Heart Potion is, but I do," the old drunkard said with a hint of pride. "I'm an knowledgeable wizard, but I'm not talking about the Heart Potion. Don't rush to use it. You have to wait until you're almost done with the spell. It's not a panacea. It depends on talent. A fool will still be a fool if he uses it, but the more talented the person, the better the effect."
"Then what method are you talking about?" Ruger was really curious this time.
"Hey, as long as you can become a full-fledged wizard, a true wizard, don't forget it. Learning this zero-ring spell will be much easier then. While it's unique and extremely difficult among zero-ring spells, it's still no match for a full-fledged wizard," the old drunkard said. "I understand what you're saying, but your tone makes it sound like you went through so much trouble to become a first-ring wizard just to learn your zero-ring spell." Ruger couldn't help but laugh.
The old drunkard's face had turned red, and it was unclear whether he was drunk from burping or was just anxious.
But in the end, after holding it in for a long time, he didn't say anything else.
Ruger reached out and put away the tattered book on the table. Seeing this, the old man's expression gradually improved.
"I haven't asked for your name yet," said Ruger.
The old man smiled slightly. "Name? The name is not important. I'm just an old wizard apprentice who loves to drink. I can probably drink for a few more years. I'm ready to meet my death in Starry City."
The old man shook his head. He looked like his end was near a moment ago, but after he finished speaking, he took out a wine jug and started drinking.
"If this spell is to be passed down, the name of its creator must be left behind," said Ruge.
"You can stay if you want! I have a feeling you'll be more famous than me in the future," the old man said, taking a long gulp of wine with a smile on his face. "I was born in Starry City. I went out for a while, and when I came back, I didn't recognize anyone. This spell is the last trace of me left in this world. I hope you can learn it."
The old man stood up unsteadily and took out an exquisite silver wine pot, which looked much smaller and more delicate than the one in his hand. He placed it gently on the table.
"This is the Goblin King's wine. Consider it my magic stone returned to you in advance. By the time you master this spell, I estimate I will no longer be in this world, so I'm returning it to you in advance. This wine is quite good, and has some effects similar to the Spirit Heart Potion. Use it as you see fit."
The old man put down his things, took out a large wine jug, drank two sips before putting it away, then shook his head and walked away slowly.
Luger wanted to say that he had learned it, but in the end he didn't say it.
The alcoholic old wizard apprentice seemed to have already thought that he could learn this spell in the future, and that was enough. Leaving a thought and comfort in the heart of this man whose time was approaching, Ruger felt as if he had done nothing, yet he had done a good thing. This feeling was wonderful. He had only done something that he thought was right and should be done.
The old man was gone for a long time before the smell of alcohol around the recliner dissipated.
Ruger was holding the bottle of wine from the so-called Goblin King, and hesitated for a moment. It was said that there were countless kings of goblins, and one could appear in every corner. They also had some unique abilities. Some wizards would let goblins help take care of some experimental plants. But now, he wanted to take a sip to taste it, but he felt it was a bit of a waste. The exquisite little wine bottle was sealed very well.
He struggled for a while and then simply put it away.
Although the alcoholic old man's plan to give lectures in exchange for magic stones did not succeed, he did help a lot and also solved some doubts, such as clarifying the identity of the previous visitor. This was very helpful to Ruger, otherwise he would really be confused.
The maid Daisy walked over and placed a silver invitation in front of him. There was a rather simple emblem of a sword and flowers crossed on it.
Ruger slowly ate a piece of fruit before picking up the invitation. It turned out to be from Edgar's Findis family, inviting him to attend some boring cocktail party the day after tomorrow.
