Chapter 55 The World and the Difference
Chapter 55 The World and the Difference
Luger had already stood up to leave.
Teacher Abyssal Language at the side cast a look for help.
He recalled what the teacher had said: she had been trapped in that room, unable to leave. This meant that her presence today was due to his presence. But as he approached, he noticed something was off about her expression. This meant that even if she had never been there, with her knowledge of the castle, she could already infer the dishes she might expect.
"I have some questions and would like to ask the teacher."
Luger walked some distance before trying to speak.
"I will bring her to see you later. Please go back to your room and rest first." said the old butler.
Luger looked back and said that he had done his best.
Then he followed the old butler back to the room.
The moment he closed the door, he began to re-examine the room. Since there might be some good things left in this castle, he had to pay a little attention and search around.
In fact, he also wanted to see a portrait of the legendary young master or something like that, curious about what that guy looked like.
He searched around the room, starting with some inconspicuous corners.
Some things that break at the slightest touch give him the feeling that it's not just due to the passage of time, or weathering or aging.
His surprise attack by focusing on the corner failed, so he had to return his search to the main track and came to the cabinet near the bed.
Boom boom boom!
"Young Master, I have brought your Abyssal Language teacher." The old butler's voice sounded outside the door.
Luger walked over and opened the door himself.
The two people outside the door saw him, their expressions different. The old butler remained respectful, bowing and then turning away. The beloved teacher Abyssal Language immediately began to vomit after the old butler left.
"I thought you were going to get rid of the food on the plate when he dropped me off..." Luger said by the door.
"You think I didn't do that?"
Teacher Abyssal Language wiped the corner of his mouth, and the hand with the ring on it shook, and some mud fell not far away.
They entered the room, and she didn't seem to relax until the door closed.
"Can you tell me a little about yourself?" Ruger offered.
She looked around and sat down on a chair. She seemed to really hate standing.
"A name? Does that matter? Those who knew my name are probably gone now, and I'm almost forgetting my own," she said, crossing her legs. "I'm just an ordinary succubus scholar, invited by the city lord to come here and teach that young master the language of the Abyss."
Ruge was stunned for a moment, and once again became puzzled about the appearance of the abyss. Succubus can be said to be a real species of demon, but there are actually scholars among them.
But he didn't dwell too much on this matter because there was something he was more curious about.
"Do demons also need to hire someone to teach the Abyssal language?" He was puzzled.
He even considered the possibility that the young master wasn't a demon, but that would raise even more questions. Furthermore, the woman herself had said she was a succubus, and a scholar at that. Of course, this was also bizarre; even the demons of the abyss were beginning to have scholars. The beautiful, though still somewhat cracked, succubus scholar laughed for a long time, her voice occasionally hoarse, perhaps because she hadn't fully recovered.
"It seems that you are not from the same place as me."
The succubus scholar raised his eyes slightly, curled up one corner of his mouth, said something incomprehensible, and paused for a moment before continuing.
"Demons aren't just found in the Abyss. There are always demons that yearn to escape the Abyss completely. They'll try every possible means. Of course, I don't know how they do it, because my ancestors weren't from the Abyss," she smiled and pointed down. "This castle beneath your feet doesn't belong to the Abyss either."
"Everyone in this castle, except you, comes from a plane of existence where the sky is never seen. It's not even as vast as the abyss. There are demons, humans, and a lot of furry creatures there, but none of them are annoying. However, it is destined to be a place without a future..."
"The demons there all speak a demonic language derived from the Abyssal language to avoid provoking the power of the Abyss."
The beautiful succubus scholar kept narrating with a smile.
"So you can understand that this castle is just a small boat for escape. When the plane world was heading towards destruction, we fled here and arrived in the abyss."
Luger scratched his head and felt that he had learned something new.
"That ship is really big..."
"No, it's very small," the succubus said with a smile, "The plane world is our great ship. Our ancestors came from a huge main world. When the main world was about to perish, they built the plane world to hide. Of course, many people in the plane world don't know this. That's why I am a scholar, while those idiots still think that the world is just like that and that our ancestors have lived in that small place for generations."
"I've long wanted to come here to see what the sky in the abyss looks like. Books say the sky in the abyss isn't beautiful..."
The succubus looked at him as she spoke, as if seeking confirmation with her eyes.
Luger could only scratch his head again.
"So, where is that young master? How can I help you get out and see the beauty of the abyss..."
Ruger decided to get back to business, not the scenery.
"I came to the castle after discovering an anomaly in the plane world and seeking refuge with the city lord's power. However, in the two years before leaving the plane world, I wasn't able to teach formally. I didn't even meet that young master. He seemed very special. He couldn't even handle language-related spells. He had to teach the Abyssal language from the very beginning. As a scholar, I was troubled by this."
The beautiful succubus scholar kept smiling, and her smile never changed whether she was talking about the history of that disappeared world or mentioning the people and knowledge in that place that no longer existed.
If what she said was true, then their hometown, their world, might only have her and the old housekeeper left.
Ruger's hands almost never left his head. Every word here was like an invisible hand, pranking the hairs on the back of his head.
These world demise, plane destruction, and other such things seemed quite unreal to him. They seemed beyond his imagination. For an ignorant fellow like him who only mastered a few zero-level spells, it was simply a scene he had never imagined.
"I even once thought that the young master wasn't real, but after seeing this room, I've dispelled some of my suspicions," she said. "Since old Izel has gone mad, perhaps we can collaborate with him in the performance. I've thought about this a long time ago, but for hundreds of years, we've been lacking a protagonist..."
Ruger blinked when he heard this, thinking that this scholar was a little unreliable.
In this ancient castle that has fallen into the abyss and is nowhere to be found, I play house with two old guys who are hundreds of years old.
