Kobold Wizard's Journal

Chapter 66 Advance and Retreat

Chapter 66 Advance and Retreat
Ruger was undeterred by the enthusiastic record-keepers.

I have to say that spells with a high degree of compatibility are really easy to learn. He has a feeling that his mind has been opened, and his understanding and thoughts are so appropriate, as if he has suddenly changed from a fool to a smart person, from a big fool to Aisijin.

When difficult things become smooth, it becomes a pleasure. At this moment, he felt that he was enjoying it extremely, as if one puzzle after another was solved in front of him, and every step was so natural and easy.

He put down the book, hummed a song, and added some dragon blood to the pool for each of the three guys.

Normally, one drink would be enough to cause a kobold to change.

This kind of dragon blood-bathing transformation was a luxury, and the resulting dragonborn kobolds were naturally more powerful than those, with a higher concentration of dragon blood in their bodies. As for the success rate of the transformation, that was completely unthinkable.

Ruger thought for a moment, put away the book and walked out of the space.

Finally having time to relax, he saw that the space was a bit monotonous and wanted to transplant some things in to see if they could survive.

His first thought was the tree, and he acted immediately. Energized by magic, he rushed out of the small cave in the settlement, following the path he and Aisijin had taken last time, heading towards the place where the wingless dragon lay dormant. While the black fruit was no longer of any use to him, looking at the soil within the space, which had been soaked by the dragon's blood, perhaps planting the fruit there would make it stronger, something he could feed to the other kobolds or feed to his companion as a snack.

He ran all the way, running very fast.

When I saw the tree again, it was still alive tenaciously. Although a lot of soil had been dug out, it did not affect it much. Its roots would still try hard to dig around to keep it alive, but today they would face the day of their roots falling off.

Ruger continued digging, following the trail he'd left behind, further reducing the island's size. The bedroom only served a limited purpose of storage, and couldn't be directly cut into to remove items, so the area around it still needed to be cleaned.

Overly lush branches are also a problem. Even though there are many fruits hanging on them, they still need to be destroyed.

After some effort, the half-broken fruit tree finally fit into the abyssal bedroom space. He found a spot with the thickest soil and planted it there. It clearly needed more soil for further growth, but he hoped the dragon's blood soil would keep it alive. He also tried transplanting a few small mushrooms and tucked them next to the tree.

He walked back all the way, stopping wherever he saw something he liked to collect a lot of soil and stones. He continued doing so after his mental strength recovered. The terrain on one side of the abyss bedroom space changed every now and then, and a lot of soil stained with dragon blood was also tossed to the vicinity of the tree by him.

At the same time, he unknowingly took in the fat worms. After his experience in the castle, he still had a good impression of these worms. As the saying goes, it is better to be prepared.

He walked and stopped along the way, occasionally entering the abyss bedroom space, and could hear Dashaheng's snoring.

Returning to the large bedroom with three transparent sides, he lay down in the familiar place and began another round of meditation. On the way, he thought of a problem. If he kept hiding in the abyss bedroom space, it would be difficult for the half-human to find him.

In the newly opened section of the Black Book, the number of meditation runes doubled again, with twelve new, more complex runes to master. Just like the previous advancement, the third magic scar required twelve new and twelve old runes, a total of twenty-four runes. He realized then that the difficulty of meditation had subtly shifted, perhaps shifting from mastering new runes to quickly and stably constructing twenty-four different runes in one sitting.

He slowly opened his eyes and let out a long breath.

Twenty-four runes, a third-level wizard apprentice, he was still confident that his advancement speed would not be too slow, but he did not dare to think about it anymore, because the answer had already naturally emerged in his heart.

A steady and leisurely sound of footsteps came from the left.

He jumped up suddenly.

Could it be a half-human? He was a little excited. In his excitement, he had already tiptoed to the corner of the other side of the passage and hid close to the wall.

The remaining spells he hadn't mastered were Ears, Writing, and Demonic Body. He had always lacked a spell that could detect things. Ears, on the other hand, could make mushrooms or plants grow temporary prosthetic ears that would transmit sounds to the caster, a true detection spell, but it wasn't intuitive enough.

"Little dog-headed man, are you still here?" A figure with pointed ears and wearing a wizard robe emerged from the side of the passage.

It was the dark elf wizard apprentice who had harassed Ruger several times before.

Ruger's heart skipped a beat. He really wasn't half human.

After thinking it over, he decided not to go out to meet her. He quietly took two steps back and opened the space door with a wave of his hand.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to lean back comfortably on the stone bed and look at the spell book of the demon body? He thought to himself that he should be able to master that spell soon.

But he raised his foot, but did not take a smooth step forward.

He recalled Old Gold Tooth's ease and contentment as he watched the barbecue, and how he felt about his current life. Back then, he'd felt a different emotion. Now, as a wizard's apprentice, he was another Old Gold Tooth, and these spellbooks were the barbecue. Especially when Old Gold Tooth excitedly spoke of the Red Horn Tribe and the elves fighting fiercely, their lack of time to care about this place, that feeling was just like his own now: comfort couldn't be built outside of oneself, but within.

Although he had previously joked about being able to hide away and meditate undisturbed to learn spells, after he learned Demon Body, the only spells left for him to learn were Writing and Ear Planting.

He slowly retracted his forward leg.

If something happened to Banren, or if he simply didn't return, would his wizarding career be cut short? Of course not! But in this vast cavern, with caves nestled within caves, how could he possibly find his way? So, it would be best to take advantage of the growing number of wizard apprentices here and open up another path. He could even try to join a wizarding faction, like the wizard academy described in Kaliu's diary. A wise kobold wouldn't hang himself on a single tree.

"Beautiful elf wizard lady, I'm here!" He shouted as he walked out from the corner.

The elf in front of me was pretty good the last time I met her. At least she didn't get angry when I saw her taking a bath, and she also passed the test of her smelly skin. I can take the risk and give it a try.

And judging from her every move, it seemed like she was asking for something.

When Ruger came out, he put on his previous robe to make himself look more like a real wizard. After all, he was someone who had experienced the battle of fifth-level wizard apprentices.

His enthusiasm seemed to make the elf a little uncomfortable.

"Now that you're wearing a wizard robe, it seems you don't plan to continue playing the role of a dog-headed man here." The elf looked him up and down.

"Beautiful lady, you come here to find a stinky dog-headed man. Is there anything he can do for you?" Ruger walked up to her and said.

The elf didn't rush to speak, but instead circled around him.

"You seem a little different," she said firmly, "you seem more confident."
