Kobold Wizard's Journal

Chapter 83 Early and Late

Chapter 83 Early and Late

Two tall and strong figures were sitting at the dining table, eating heartily. They seemed not to be used to eating with a spoon, and one of them bit off a piece of the cup while drinking. But Ruger just sat opposite and watched with a smile. The two guys who were wolfing down their food were Aisijin and Dashaheng.

"Don't worry, I'll give you my portion too. You can order more if you finish it. This time, Ai Sijin will order the meal, so let's order a stew of insect shells!" Ruger said with a smile.

It was already three days since they had met Lorigo, the young noble from Star City. The two burly kobolds had also been out of the abyssal bedroom space for two days. This tavern was the place they had been most frequented by the three of them.

Ruger's words made Aisijin's hand, holding the spoon, tremble. She seemed a little nervous, even less so than Dashaheng, which was unexpected. Speaking of Dashaheng, if he hadn't been adapting, he could already support himself. The three of them had already encountered him several times while walking down the street. People approached Dashaheng and offered him membership, most of them mercenaries. It was rumored that there had been a recent conflict between two underground cities, and a potential war was imminent.

Ai Sijin raised her hand to call the waiter and ordered the food smoothly. She also asked for a portion for Ruger without being reminded, plus a glass of sour mushroom wine.

In fact, the waiter with a face full of flesh was more nervous than Ai Sijin. Unlike Ruger, the two ogre-headed men were more intimidating in both figure and appearance, and there was also that inexplicable temperament factor. Ruger gave others a better impression. Although the two of them were relatively special in the ogre-headed people, they still retained a bit of wildness.

During these two days, Ruger also found a place similar to a black market. There were some small things he got from the Cave City, but they were not yet in the realm of the extraordinary. He was not interested in most of the things. He only bought a few biographical novels there, which were said to be from the boudoir of a noble lady who loved reading. He quickly read them and gave them to Aisijin and Dashaheng, asking them to read them. After mastering the common language, they also recognized words, but they still could not understand some things when reading. However, that was not important. It was all an adaptation process.

The tinkling sound can be heard from far away.

"Boss, have the goods I want been modified?" Ruger shouted.

After they had eaten and drunk their fill, they came to the town's blacksmith shop. The flames in the furnace made the blacksmith shop the brightest place on the street.

Under the admiring gazes of Aisijin and Dashaheng, Ruger used the coins in his hand to exchange for a long sword and a heavy hammer for them.

The long sword belongs to Aisijin, and the heavy hammer belongs to Dashaheng, which is very consistent with their temperament and makes them look even more fierce.

There are some transplanted luminous objects on the roadside. Everyone has a tacit understanding and very few people trample on or destroy them.

The three of them walked home happily, and Dashaheng's size often attracted the attention of those who passed by.

When they were almost home, a person walking towards them caught Ruger's attention. The other person also looked at the three of them curiously. There was no communication between the two sides, and they passed each other in a normal way.

This could be a wizard's apprentice, Luger thought.

I didn't clearly feel the other party's mental fluctuations, it was just a feeling in my heart.

The three of them returned home. Aisijin and Dashaheng chose to return to the Abyss bedroom space, wanting to adapt to their new weapons, and the light there was more suitable for reading.

As usual, Ruge went to Kalu's room for a walk.

Again nothing was gained.

He returned to his room and was about to start meditating when there was a knock on the door.

"Are you Lord Ruge? Master Lorigo asked me to tell you that the departure time has been advanced." A young mercenary stood respectfully outside the courtyard gate.

"When?" Ruger didn't waste any words.

"If possible, please follow me now." The mercenary said and made a respectful gesture of invitation.

Ruge nodded, glanced back at Kalu's room, and slowly followed the mercenary out.

When he saw Master Lorigo again, he seemed to be in a bad mood, but he still greeted him with a smile.

"Lord Ruge, for some reasons, we have to set off early this time. I hope you can agree." said the handsome Master Lorigo.

"Of course no problem." He looked at the people in the room. The spellcaster seemed really hard to find. Apart from the red-haired woman, he was the only one there.

"This is the spell notebook we agreed on." Lorigo handed over a scroll with both hands.

Luger took it and unfolded it on the spot.

It is a notebook of experience when reading a magic book. After a quick look, it seems that it only talks about some experiences and ideas on the use of magic of illusion, and there is nothing special about it.

Ruger was a little disappointed, but he still rolled it up carefully and put it away.

But he still smiled back and said, "I am very satisfied with this reward."

Master Lorigo seemed relieved and said, "Please rest here for a while. Once everything is ready, we will set off."

Luger nodded, and soon he was alone in the room.

He closed his eyes and thought, listening to the busy sounds outside.

This was his first time being employed by someone and also his first time going out to explore a ruin.

Just hope everything goes well.

If things don't go well, then I can only hope that my abilities can cope with them, he thought.

I do not know how long it has been.

There was a knock on the door. He opened his bright eyes.

A team of nearly 200 people slowly set off on the road. This number was far beyond Ruger's imagination.

At this moment, he was sitting alone in a bug cart. The space was very crowded. It was a six-legged bug with a simple woven carriage on its back. There were only two bug carts in the entire team, his and the young master's. Young Master Lorigo's was a little less spacious, and it was crowded with the young master and the red-haired girl. The two bug carts were at the front of the team, led by an insect keeper.

Luger yawned.

The little bug was twisting and turning, almost sending him to sleep.

This bug is definitely a good hand with children.

He pricked up his ears and could occasionally hear members of his team being attacked by burrowing worms. Fortunately, these guys were experienced and could handle the situation promptly. It was said that staying away from the town would improve the situation. These burrowing worms sensed the vibrations of the ground below and leaped out to attack their prey. They loved to linger near the towns of the Abyss Cave, posing a threat to the people there, but also a minor defense against the underground beasts.

Ruger gradually adapted to the shaking of the bug car, took out the ear-seeding technique that had been put aside for a long time and began to look at it.

This is a small spell that can make mushrooms or plants grow temporary false ears, which can be used for eavesdropping.

I remember that Master Lorigo said that the reason he chose this small town of Yuanku was because the ruins were not far from here, but he had to wait until a specific time to see them.

He couldn't concentrate here, and he probably didn't have enough time to learn the spell, so he just took a quick look.

I plan to take a look at the Light Technique later to see which one is easier to use.
