Chapter 97 Losing and winning
Chapter 97 Losing and winning
Luger slowly walked towards the long-awaited exit for the gladiators. He looked down at his feet, at the scars of this passageway: smooth stones from being stepped on, blackened bloodstains, and damage from swords and axes. The arena had been there for centuries, with countless men having emerged from here, eager to prove their bravery with the blood of their opponents, and also condemned prisoners, filled with fear and helpless, forced to fight against humans and underground beasts.
The arena had been cleaned up by the red-nosed man at the fastest speed. The underground beasts defeated by Dashaheng and his men only left a few broken spikes in the arena.
Luger enjoyed this experience very much. He walked out of the tunnel. The audience in the stands of the circular arena subconsciously cheered for him, even though most of them didn't know who he was or why he was there.
When he walked to the arena and stopped, the female wizard apprentice with a hoarse voice jumped down from the noble stands as he had expected.
This extraordinary move brought a new round of cheers from the audience.
Luger curled his lips and watched the other person's light figure falling.
Light body technique? Who doesn't know it? He thought to himself.
"Can I see your true face?" The female wizard apprentice with a hoarse voice stopped in front of him, looked at him and said slowly.
Ruger understood that the other party had been observing him at close range. This was certainly not because he was obsessed with his handsomeness, but because he looked at his protruding face after wearing the veil and guessed something. As a wizard apprentice obsessed with transformation, he must have been unable to resist his curiosity.
"Add twenty more of these cute little things," he said with a smile, pulling out a large magic stone like the one Baonte had given him, shaking it in his hand, "that's two thousand standard magic stones. Add to the bet. If I lose, I can let you see as much as you want."
The woman frowned slightly, then slowly nodded in agreement.
She shook the cape behind her robe, revealing a row of breeding bags at her waist. She reached out and clapped her hands, and a group of strange creatures appeared in the arena one after another. The only normal-looking black kitten among them jumped lightly onto her shoulder.
"These are the nine works I'm most proud of. I hope you can appreciate them. That way, when you're defeated by them, you'll just think they're showing you their rare achievements, and you'll get inspiration from them," said the woman.
This stunned Luger. It was like getting beaten up and then being told you could learn some techniques from it.
Ruger took a quick look. These nine strange creatures did not include the little black cat licking its paws on her shoulder. One of them was clearly not an ordinary biological modification. It looked like a bear and had a lot of metal objects on its body.
But these guys are not puppets, they all have their own thoughts, so Ruger is not afraid at all.
"Thank you for your generosity," Ruger said sincerely.
Amid the cheers of the audience, the nine strange creatures rushed towards Ruger, while the female wizard apprentice took two steps back, showing no intention of attacking.
Luger also pretended to be unhurried, and his smelly skin had already been used.
He didn't understand the true combat between proper wizards, but based on his experience as a wizard apprentice, he believed that battles between apprentices were more like a competition of intelligence and luck. Whoever mastered some unknown, unexpected tactics could determine victory or defeat in an instant. Similarly, if someone's strengths were known, they were likely to lose.
For example, right now, the opponent was clearly a wizard apprentice who had devoted most of her energy to the study of transformation. Her confidence stemmed from the fact that even if her tendencies were exposed, her nine transformed creatures would still leave the enemy unpredictable. But Luger was an exception. He didn't have to try to predict them, didn't have to deal with them one by one; he could still defeat all nine of her transformed creatures. Furthermore, he could still keep the opponent baffled. Sometimes, he even thought his methods were quite impressive, seeming very high-end and sophisticated.
But if someone knew what he relied on, they would take targeted measures, such as using alchemical puppets, or other methods to control or avoid malicious intent.
He walked forward confidently amid the exclamations of the crowd, and the two insect-shaped modified creatures in the front collapsed instantly.
The female wizard apprentice saw this, frowned and looked serious, as if she was thinking about what method Ruger used.
To be on the safe side, Ruger had already cast spells such as Demon Skin and Mind Boiling one by one before walking out of the gladiator tunnel. Only the overly conspicuous Demon Body was not used.
He smiled slightly and suddenly jumped out.
A mental shockwave emanated from the altered creatures on either side. Ruger's forward momentum faltered, a slight daze forming, but it was useless. The high compatibility and solidification spells had long since enabled him to maintain his foul-smelling skin even in sleep. His high-quality, concentrated mental strength also allowed him to recover quickly. The altered creatures that had attacked him had already collapsed. He roared with laughter and rushed towards the female sorceress apprentice.
The modified creatures that were passing by and chasing behind fell down one after another inexplicably, and their foreheads were wrinkled like a flower.
The nine modified creatures with different abilities were unable to perform at all and all fell to the ground.
The entire arena miraculously quieted down after a burst of exclamations.
The woman stopped walking backwards and looked at him seriously.
He also stopped rushing forward and slowly walked towards the other party step by step.
"Do you want to continue?" He said this, but his feet still did not stop.
The woman looked him up and down with a frown.
"A highly compatible transformation spell?" she said.
Ruger smiled without saying anything and continued to move closer. The area of the smelly skin was already very close to her.
Meow! The little black cat screamed!
The small black cat's cry was so shocking.
Ruger was not intimidated. He saw his chance and took a sharp step forward, intending to bring the woman and her nasty little kitten into the range of the stinking skin.
The little black cat suddenly jumped up from the woman's shoulder, but was held down by the woman again.
"I surrender."
As she spoke, she threw over a storage bag.
Ruger stopped and took the bag with a smile. Inside was the agreed magic stone and a sealed and marked spiritual heart potion.
After he confirmed it, he put the contents into the space and threw the bag back.
Before he could say anything.
Meow! The black cat screamed again, and it was particularly shrill! For a moment, it broke free from the woman's hands.
I saw its body flashing and pouncing on the fallen transformed creatures one after another.
All the modified creatures touched by it stood up slowly. They did not rush to Ruger for revenge immediately, but gathered together to eat, lined up in front of the little black cat, as if they were beloved cats waiting to be fed, but this time they were feeding themselves. The little black cat swallowed one every time it meowed, as if that mouth was also a spatial object.
The black cat's body also began to change, vaguely looking like a struggling shadow, and gradually revealing the shape of a giant dragon.
"You're not listening again!"
The woman appeared next to the kitten, slapped it, and the shadow was dispersed. She grabbed the back of the neck and pulled out a little black kitten.
Those modified creatures that were obviously swallowed by the little black cat reappeared in the arena as the shadow shattered, and they were still alive and well, which really surprised Ruger. He did not stop them before not only because the female wizard apprentice had already admitted defeat, but also because he wanted to see what happened next.
