Chapter 7: The people who have slept with your daughter can line up from here to Iraq!
Hyde Park.
As Chicago's oldest and most picturesque lakefront park, it should be one of Chicago's landmarks and a popular tourist destination. Unfortunately, the park is located in the South Side.
Therefore, the majority of people staying here are not tourists, but homeless vagrants.
But this is not a problem. After all, there is no property for the homeless to be deprived of, and the government has no money to build parks.
Therefore, for the homeless people sleeping here, their property is just circulated in their hands in another way.
Well, praise America~
At this moment, in a corner of the park, a large group of residents who came out for morning exercise and walk were gathered around a bush, pointing at a motionless body lying inside.
If you get closer, you can even hear these men vying for the honor of being the first to discover the body. If you don't know, you might think they are performing "Stand by Me".
Fortunately, the alarm interrupted their quarrel soon.
Rorschach pushed open the car door, put his hands on his belt, and walked towards the crowd yawning.
Behind him, Ginny, who had been running after the police car all the way and was only allowed to get on the car to rest for a while at the entrance of the park, pursed her lips tightly and stood several meters away from him without saying a word.
"Alright, alright, this is the body of a homeless person, not Charlize Theron, everyone, disperse."
Rorschach clapped his hands at the residents who had gathered in a group, and after dispersing them all, he raised his hands and reached behind him.
Ginny looked at his outstretched hand, and her heart suddenly tightened. Although she didn't know what Rorschach was going to do, she always felt as if she had done something wrong again.
"What?" Ginny asked cautiously.
Rorschach turned around and saw her bewildered look. He couldn't help but sigh inwardly and shouted silently, "Card tape! Trace fixing line! Nylon body cover! Isolation gloves! What should you do after finding a body? Do you still need me to teach you one by one? How did you learn it in the police academy?!"
Ginny was stunned for a moment, then nodded quickly, "I'll get it now!"
Although she hated Rorschach in her heart, out of her professionalism as a police officer, she still hurried to the police car to get the tools.
But before she could take two steps, she heard Rorschach's voice stopping her.
"and many more!"
Rorschach waved his hand to stop her, then looked suspiciously at the "corpse" wearing a blue denim jacket and lying face down not far away.
Damn, this corpse looks more and more familiar the more I look at it.
Rorschach muttered to himself, and when he walked to the side of the corpse, he bent down to look at it for a few seconds, then suddenly raised his foot and kicked the corpse.
"Fuck it, Frank!"
After kicking the corpse once, it still showed no reaction. Rorschach then kicked it twice more, cursing, "Still playing dead, huh? Get up and go home now, you're wasting our police resources all day long. If you want to die, go home and die!"
Ginny, who saw this scene, immediately stepped forward angrily. She stood in front of the corpse named Frank, glared at Rorschach and shouted, "Don't be crazy! How can you treat a corpse like this? This is not what a good police officer should do!"
"Corpse?"
Rorschach shook his head in exasperation. "I guess I need to introduce you to some famous people from the South Side. Do you know what two creatures will remain after the next apocalypse? One is the cockroach, and the other is..."
He pointed behind Ginny and cursed, "Fuck Frank Gallagher!"
Ginny, who finally found the opportunity, wanted to say a few more words to Rorschach in defiance, but the sudden groaning sound behind her interrupted her train of thought.
She turned her head in disbelief and saw that the guy she thought was a corpse actually stretched out and sat up from the ground.
"Hey! Look who's here!" Frank stood up hurriedly when he saw Rorschach, automatically ignored Ginny who was still in a daze, put on a shy smile, and opened his arms to greet Rorschach.
"The pride of our South Side, Chicago's best detective—Rorschach Butcher! He's also my daughter Fiona's first love."
Seeing the guy's grin, his mouth wider than a toilet, Rorschach didn't want to pay any attention to him and turned to leave. But how could Frank let him go so easily? The old man continued to shamelessly follow Rorschach, muttering, "Rorschach, Rorschach, just take pity on me, the father of your first love, and buy me a drink. Or maybe cash, fifty, twenty dollars will do. I didn't drink much this morning."
"."
Rorschach paused, looked up at the sky, took a deep breath, turned around, tapped Frank's head, and replied unhappily, "First of all, I only slept with Fiona once, and she even got me drunk on purpose that time. I was already being merciful by not reporting her. Besides, the guys who slept with Fiona can be lined up from here to Iraq! Why don't you go and ask them for money one by one!"
"Secondly, because of your moral blackmail, I've paid you at least thousands of dollars. You damned fellow, are you really taking me for a ride?"
"Try to shamelessly ask for money from me again? Do you believe I'll lock you up for forty-eight hours?!"
Hearing this, Frank, who was about to get more money from Rorschach, suddenly fell silent.
He was not afraid of being locked up, but simply couldn't bear the pain of not drinking for two days.
But looking at Rorschach about to get into the police car and leave, Frank suddenly had an idea in his mind.
He hurriedly stopped Rorschach and whispered, "Listen, Rorschach, I'm definitely not taking your money for nothing. Have you been looking for information on missing children in the South District lately?"
Rorschach's eyes turned cold as he was about to open the car door. He looked down at the old man and said in a deep voice, "You'd better know what you're talking about."
Frank flinched at the stern look, but his mouth was dry as he quenched his thirst with a bottle of vodka. He bravely explained, "In Xiaokai's bar, I overheard the Irish brothers asking about some missing children in the South Side. Others may not know, but I know they're all your informants. That's the first rule of fight club, right?"
Rorschach looked Frank up and down. He didn't expect that this old guy also knew about the fight club.
He wasn't surprised that someone violated the rules of the fight club. To be honest, a small group that relied on a few random words to get together would sooner or later be exposed to more people.
It was just a little surprising that Frank was so observant. I had just told him about the Irish brothers last night, and within a few hours, Frank had heard it and even associated it with me.
Frank then continued, striking while the iron was hot: "Believe me, Rorschach, I have the information you want. You only need to pay me two thousand, no, one thousand dollars, and I will tell you everything. God, if anyone can save those lost children, it is you, Rorschach!"
Rorschach glanced at him, then, under Frank's expectant gaze, reached into his pocket and pulled out a napkin.
“Puff.”
Rorschach blew his nose and placed the tissue in Frank's eagerly outstretched hand. He said calmly, "Find a trash can and throw it away."
"Rorschach."
"Don't talk nonsense, wait for me at home tonight. Let me warn you, if you dare to play tricks on me, I swear you won't be able to drink a drop of alcohol in your entire life!"
Rorschach pointed at Frank threateningly, then ignored Ginny who was still standing there motionless, and just like before, left her behind and drove away in the police car.
But this time Ginny didn't continue running to catch up like before. She looked at the police car that was almost out of sight, narrowed her eyes, and walked to Frank who was still cursing in the direction Rorschach left.
"Mr. Gallagher?"
Frank saw that it was a strange female police officer who appeared. He had no desire to communicate and waved his hand to leave, but a hand holding a hundred-dollar bill suddenly stretched out in front of him.
Ginny looked at him with a smile and said softly, "You seem to be very familiar with Rorschach. Could you please tell me some stories about him? Anything is fine. As long as it's related to him, I can buy it with money."
