Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 131 Lockhart on the Second Floor
Chapter 131 Lockhart on the Second Floor
Honestly, Lockhart always manages to surprise everyone, even in this situation.
Xiren never imagined that he would one day see a pink auditorium.
The four walls were covered with large pink flowers, and the ceiling, which was originally enchanted and could directly reflect the sky, was painted blue. Whenever someone walked under it, colorful heart-shaped confetti would fall down.
Lockhart, dressed in the same pink robe, loudly proclaimed that this was a Valentine's Day surprise he had prepared for everyone.
"Because of my absence, everyone had to attend many boring Defense Against the Dark Arts classes. To make up for it, I took the liberty of preparing this surprise for everyone... Of course, since it's a surprise, there's definitely more than just this."
As he finished speaking, twelve gloomy-faced dwarves entered the hall from the other side, and Lockhart announced that they would be handing out Valentine's Day cards to everyone at the school.
They also indicated that if anyone wanted to say something but was too embarrassed to, they could contact them.
“I will absolutely not say a single word to those dwarves!” Harry said, enunciating each word clearly. Ever since Lockhart stood up, he had been poking at his steak, and now he had successfully turned it into a plate of minced beef.
“Maybe someone will give you a greeting card.” Celen brushed the heart-shaped paper scraps off his plate, then served himself a steak and began to eat it with relish.
"This is your third one, isn't it?" Hermione looked away from Lockhart and at Siron. "Is the steak this good today?"
As she spoke, she cut off a piece and put it in her mouth.
Nothing special, just like usual.
"It's alright," Xilun said.
"Then why did you eat so much today?" Hermione asked curiously. "I noticed this morning that you ate five sausages."
"Because it's almost a full moon again." Xilun's voice carried a sigh of utter despair.
The full moon meant that he would have to continue sucking on mandrakes and begin another period of hardship where he couldn't eat or sleep well.
While there's still time, I definitely need to eat more.
Xilun cut another piece of fried pork chop and forced himself to take a bite.
“What does the full moon have to do with you? Only werewolves are afraid of the full moon,” Ron said, looking at Siron with a growing sense of fear. “You…you’re not a werewolf, are you…”
“If I were a werewolf, I would definitely visit your dorm on the day of the full moon,” Xilun said without looking up. “Remember not to close the door then.”
"Clang..." Neville's cutlery fell onto the plate with a crisp sound.
“Neville, Celen is joking,” Hermione said, glaring at Ron, who was laughing heartily.
“Of course I’m joking,” Ron said. “Besides, how could Headmaster Dumbledore let werewolves stay in the school?”
"I'm sorry, I... I didn't mean that..." Neville's face turned red. Of course, he knew that Siron was a normal wizard; he just hadn't realized it yet.
Celen didn't care at all and just kept eating fried pork chops.
Hermione looked at him thoughtfully from across the room.
So besides werewolves, what other things is the full moon associated with?
She was thinking when a burst of affected laughter interrupted her train of thought.
Lockhart had just told a joke that Professor Flitwick was more skilled in psychedelic magic than anyone else, and "affectionately" referred to him as "that cunning old dog."
However, apart from him, no one else found it funny. Professor Flitwick even buried his face in his hands and dared not look up.
He was probably regretting using the wrong magic last time at the dueling club—he should have just used the Killing Curse on Lockhart.
And more and more people are starting to think this way.
All day long, the little dwarfs kept going in and out of the classrooms, delivering Valentine's Day cards, which annoyed the professors to no end.
Then they also received greeting cards.
Even at lunchtime, a little dwarf quietly walked up to Dumbledore and sang loudly in a rough, hoarse voice:
The wise and charming headmaster of Hogwarts
His eyes were like the stars in the sky.
His beard resembled a unicorn's rear end.
Praise be to you, my dear Dumbledore.
At first, Dumbledore didn't think much of it and even smiled and thanked the dwarf, saying he hadn't expected to be so popular.
But what he didn't expect was that more and more dwarves came, and the songs they sang became increasingly indecent, some of which made him blush.
The centenarian principal quickly surrendered, leaving the auditorium before even finishing his favorite egg and milk fruit pie, and hiding back in his office.
There are stone beasts with dripping spouts guarding the area, so the dwarves can't get in.
Besides Dumbledore, the other professors also suffered various forms of harassment, but they all had their own ways of dealing with it.
Snape was the most effective among them.
When the first dwarf sang in the underground classroom, "His hair was so greasy that a vixen could slip on it," Snape unleashed an astonishing speed, scooping up a spoonful of the unidentified liquid from Neville's cauldron and pouring it directly into the dwarf's mouth.
Neville's cauldron—honestly, nobody knew what was inside or what its purpose was. But the effect was immediate; the dwarf instantly went silent, his body turned grayish-white in the blink of an eye, and purple bubbles began to bubble from his mouth.
After that, it immediately became quiet around Snape, and no more dwarves dared to run into the underground classroom.
This pleased Snape greatly. He thought Dumbledore was too easy to talk to. Everyone knew he was a respectable man who wouldn't get angry easily. Sometimes, you had to be a little tougher.
However, although the dwarves stopped bothering him, Snape was still disgusted by the lyrics and didn't even want to eat dinner.
Most of the professors didn't come that night.
Xilun had just taken two bites of stew when he suddenly stood up.
This action startled Harry, who instinctively looked around before finally relaxing once he was sure there were no more winged dwarves.
"what happened to you?"
“Oh, it’s nothing, I’m full,” said Siren, folding up an old parchment and putting it in his pocket.
“But you’ve only just sat down,” Harry said, glancing at the stew that Siron had just taken a bite of.
"Maybe I ate too much at lunch." Xiren got up from her seat. "You guys continue. I suddenly remembered that I should have returned the books to the library today."
Before he finished speaking, Xilun quickly ran out of the auditorium, ran towards the marble staircase, and arrived at the second floor.
Because it was dinner time, there weren't many people on the second floor, except for a few dwarfs carrying wings and harps standing sporadically at the library entrance.
They were all going to the library to deliver Valentine's Day cards, but Mrs. Pince kicked them out and left them to wait outside.
Ignoring them, Xiren turned and ran towards another corridor. After passing through both corridors, Xiren suddenly stopped.
He looked at the person hurrying towards him and said, "Good evening, Professor Lockhart. I never expected to see you here."
“Me too, Mr. Ollivander,” Lockhart said, glancing instinctively at a closed door beside him.
Xilun also took a look. "Professor, if I remember correctly, this is a girls' restroom, and there's a troublesome ghost living in it. It hasn't been used for a long time."
“Really?” Lohat nodded, seemingly unconcerned. “Perhaps I can help her. When I was in Transylvania, I helped the ghosts there resolve their problems.”
"So, Professor, you also know that there's a girl's ghost inside?" Siren raised an eyebrow.
“Of course,” Lockhart said. “Isn’t this the women’s restroom?”
“But I also said this place hasn’t been used for a long time.” Xilun smiled. “Maybe it’s because there’s a male ghost inside that no one goes there.”
"Is that so?" Lockhart's expression finally changed.
“I was just kidding, Professor,” Siron said with a laugh. “The ghost inside is called the Weeping Myrtle.”
“Oh, of course I know that. She was here when I was in school,” Lockhart said. “However, I think the most important thing now is to get to the auditorium as soon as possible, and hopefully we can still have dinner.”
“No problem, Professor.” Siren stepped aside to let Lockhart pass by.
“Mr. Ollivander, aren’t you going?” Lockhart stopped and asked. “Come on, we can go together.”
“I’ve already eaten,” Xilun said. “I need to hurry back to my dorm; there’s a book I have to return today.”
I don't know if it was just my imagination, but when Lockhart heard that Siren was on her way back to her dorm, the smile on his face seemed to become more natural.
"Good luck," he said. "Mrs. Pince is not someone to be trifled with."
"I think so."
The two parted ways at the bend.
Siren stood in the corridor and only after seeing Lockhart appear in the foyer downstairs did he walk to the door of Myrtle's bathroom and take a look.
He had just seen Lockhart appear here on the Marauder's Map and rushed over. He was probably running too fast and Lockhart heard his footsteps, which is why the two met at the corner.
But it was no use, because Siron had the Marauder's Map and knew exactly where Lockhart was.
The magical traces that Dumbledore had placed on the bathroom door were still there, but for some reason, they looked a little different from before.
Previously, Dumbledore had sealed this door with magic and reinforced it to prevent students from accidentally wandering in. It was so secure that it could not be pushed open from the outside or even from the inside, and only Myrtle, being a ghost, could freely enter and exit.
Dumbledore also instructed that he should be notified immediately if anything unusual happened in the bathroom.
The magical marks on the door are still there, but their position seems to have changed. He seemed to remember that there was a symbol below the doorknob before, but now it is in the middle, about half an inch off.
Xilun wasn't sure if he had remembered it wrong. He tried pushing the door, but thankfully, it remained firmly in place.
