Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 139 Dumbledore Leaves School
Chapter 139 Dumbledore Leaves School
At dinner, Siron waited in the foyer for Dumbledore, who had returned from Hogsmeade, and told him that Hagrid was not the murderer of Myrtle, but the Basilisk.
Dumbledore looked surprised; he wondered how Sheryl knew about it.
"This happened fifty years ago."
He said, "Almost nobody in the school knew about it, including some professors."
Siren explained that he had repaired Hagrid's wand before, so he had specifically looked into some of what happened back then.
Dumbledore looked enlightened. "No wonder the pumpkins were unusually large since last Halloween. It turns out you fixed his wand."
"It's not exactly a repair, I just made some minor repairs," Siren said. "Headmaster, I just realized that the washroom is the entrance to the secret chamber. Maybe Myrtle was killed because she saw the basilisk's eyes."
“Your deduction makes a lot of sense,” said Dumbledore, the candlelight on the wall casting a faint glow on his spectacles.
"I firmly believe that Hagrid was not the real killer of Miss Warren, but it is also true that he kept giant spiders in the castle, which is the main reason for his dismissal."
"But many people still suspect that he did it."
“That’s right.” Dumbledore nodded. “But we have no evidence, Mr. Ollivander. The Ministry of Magic won’t believe that Hogwarts is inhabited by a basilisk just because of two pieces of snakeskin of unknown origin.”
"They need more tangible evidence, such as a memory or a real basilisk, but we can't find any of those right now."
This was truly a problem for Siron. He couldn't open the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry, who could open it, couldn't get into the bathroom.
As for the memories... no one knows if Riddle can still provide the relevant memories now.
“I’m still glad you told me this, Mr. Ollivander. Hagrid would be very happy to know.”
Dumbledore walked past Shiron. "But let's hurry up and have dinner now. I recommend you try the marmalade pudding; it's really delicious."
Hearing Dumbledore's words, Sirius was unsure of his thoughts, but he didn't press further and followed him into the Great Hall.
Just as Dumbledore said, the marmalade pudding was indeed delicious, but it was a bit too sweet, and it seemed like they added extra syrup to it.
……
In the days that followed, the Gryffindor trio became increasingly busy, and few people saw them in the common room, including Sherren.
However, Harry and his friends were running around the castle, while Siron was reading in his dormitory.
"Alternating Transfiguration"... that chain transfiguration book is really interesting. Siren accidentally discovered that when you use a transfiguration charm on the pages while reading, the contents will change, depending on the type of transfiguration you use.
Normal reading is the advanced version of "Advanced Transfiguration Guide". When you use normal transfiguration on the book during the reading process, the original content will be hidden and the content about multiple transfigurations will reappear.
The so-called multiple transformations are to first turn a match into a needle, then the needle into a quill pen, which uses two transformations, called a second transformation. Then, turning the quill pen into a fork is a third transformation.
Celen wasn't interested in that, so he tried turning the book back into a porcupine.
Then the content changed again, becoming knowledge about human deformities, and a detailed introduction to Animagus.
This must be what Professor McGonagall really wanted him to see. As for why she didn't say it outright and insisted that Siron discover it himself, we don't know.
Maybe she wanted to test him again.
However, the fact that one book contained three different contents was truly novel to Xilun. Even though he had already finished reading it, he would take it out and flip through it every day.
On Monday, during the Transfiguration class, Professor McGonagall walked into the classroom and announced just ten minutes later that the exam would begin the following week.
Xiren then put away the books related to Transfiguration and took out other textbooks.
Although he didn't care much about exam scores, it wouldn't look good if they were too bad; he needed to get at least an A (passing grade) in every subject. While this grade wasn't that important, it was still an important standard for evaluating a wizard.
Imagine if, twenty years from now, someone asked what Ollivander's Wand Shop was like, and a wizard might pop up and say, "Siron Ollivander? He only got a T (troll) on his exams in school."
Once people hear that, they probably won't want to buy wands from him anymore.
It took Xiren more than ten minutes to finally find the other textbooks, especially "History of Magic," which was covered with a thick layer of dust.
Xiren then realized that he hadn't touched "The History of Magic" once since the second year, and that he was reading books and magazines related to Transfiguration even during class.
Besides these, there are Lockhart's books, which are mostly piled up in a corner.
That evening, Siron began reading "The History of Magic" non-stop.
……
With only three days left until the exam, students could be seen everywhere in the castle, their eyes glued to the contents of their books, even while walking and eating.
Xilun was one of them.
That morning, he went to the auditorium for breakfast as usual, and silently recited the contents of the medieval European wizarding council.
Ten minutes later, the postman flew into the auditorium right on time, throwing letters and packages into everyone's hands.
Dumbledore also received a letter, and what's noteworthy is that it was delivered to him by a seagull, not the owl that everyone is familiar with.
"Ron, can seagulls deliver messages?" Harry asked in surprise.
“Of course, not every place likes owls,” Ron said. “Some coastal countries prefer to use seagulls to deliver messages.”
The two looked towards the teachers' seats, and Xilun also looked up.
Dumbledore took the letter from the seagull's beak, opened it, glanced at it, and immediately stood up.
An anxious look appeared on his face. After exchanging a few words with Professor McGonagall, he hurriedly left the auditorium.
Siren also noticed that he didn't head towards the stairs, but instead walked straight out of the castle.
A few curious students secretly followed him out for a peek, and when they returned, they told everyone that Dumbledore had left the school.
“It’s absolutely true, I saw the headmaster leave the castle gates.” Lee Jordan, surrounded by several people, said confidently, “Then he Apparated.”
"Who do you think delivered that letter?" Fred asked with interest. "That it could make the headmaster put down his unfinished breakfast and leave the school immediately."
“I don’t know, but it must have been very important,” George said. “You probably saw how serious he looked.”
"I guess it's a letter from the International Federation of Wizards. They say they like to use seagulls as postmen..."
……
As exams approached, the atmosphere in the castle grew increasingly oppressive. When something interesting happened, everyone immediately started discussing it animatedly, which helped them relax.
Siren didn't participate; he was more concerned about why Dumbledore would leave the school at this time. Was he really that confident in his magic?
Then he glanced at the teachers' table. On the far side, Lockhart was talking to Professor Sprout. He looked very happy, though it was unclear whether it was because of the conversation or something else.
