Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 149 Exam
Chapter 149 Exam
In the afternoon, there was a practical exam for the transformation course. Everyone waited in the corridor outside the exam room beforehand, and entered the classroom after their names were called.
The second-grade exam involved turning a rabbit into slippers; the requirement was to turn one rabbit into two slippers.
If it only turns into a slipper, or if you can still see features like rabbit fur or ears on it, points will be deducted.
If none of these are present, you will get an A (pass). If the color of the slippers changes accordingly, you will get an E (good). If you can add a beautiful pattern, then it will be an O (excellent).
Xilun was in the middle to back of the line. When he went in, he immediately saw something on the ground that he didn't know what it was.
They're supposed to be slippers, but they have complete rabbit heads that can even move.
This was clearly a failed transformation; it definitely failed.
Professor McGonagall waved her hand, and the unidentified object on the ground transformed back into a rabbit.
"Let's get started," she said.
Siren nodded, took out his wand and waved it gently. Instantly, the rabbit turned into a pair of blue beach sandals with Hogwarts Castle patterns painted on them.
“Oh, that’s really good,” Professor Machiban praised from the side. “It’s clear that you are very skilled in Transfiguration.”
Xilun smiled. He had done almost nothing else this year but study Transfiguration. How could he not be proficient?
Professor McGonagall, standing nearby, didn't even wait for the results. As soon as Celence waved his wand, she had already drawn a big O on the report card.
As it turned out, she was absolutely right. Sheron's transformation was flawless; even the strictest Marchban professors couldn't find a single fault with it. She even thought that Dumbledore's transformation test was probably just as good.
Unfortunately, the chief proctor couldn't stay in the lower grades' exam room forever; otherwise, she would have loved to go and observe the Sirens Spells exam again.
Siren never expected that he would leave Professor Marchban with an impression "comparable to Dumbledore".
However, after the Transformation Class exam, his other grades were just average, not bad, but not particularly outstanding either.
For their Charms class exam, Professor Flitwick asked them to enlarge a raspberry and then turn it into a glass of frozen juice.
This tested their expansion, squeezing, and freezing spells.
Although Xilen finished everything, his juice wasn't filled to the brim, so it can only be rated as an E (good).
In Potions class, Snape asked them to prepare a potion of forgetfulness. Cyren, relying on his previous experience brewing potions of magic protection, barely managed to get an O from Snape…
However, Siron was unaware of this yet. After the exam, looking at Snape's ambiguous smile, he felt a little uneasy, wondering if Snape would try to trip him up because of the basilisk's fangs and eyes.
But there was nothing Siren could do; Hagrid had already blown out one of the basilisk's eyes, and the blood from the snakes had spilled onto the ground.
He only had one good eye left; he couldn't possibly separate it from Snape, that would be such a waste.
However, that thing was too dangerous, and Xilun didn't know if the basilisk's eyes still had the original curse effect, so after getting it, he just kept it in the shapeshifting lizard skin bag.
He would often take out the snake fangs to look at for a while, and the more he looked at them, the more he liked them.
However, Snape probably had one too; it's said that the snake's tooth that was nailed to the portrait in the foyer was later shamelessly taken away by him.
Afterwards, Xilun went to the greenhouse to take the herbology exam and repotted the mandrake...
Next up was the Defense Against the Dark Arts exam, which everyone thought would be skipped, since their professor had been sent to St. Mungo's a few days earlier.
Once he recovers from his injuries, he will most likely be sent directly to Azkaban.
If there are no professors left, is there still a need for exams?
The answer is yes, it must be tested.
To everyone's surprise, the Wizarding Examinations Authority had hastily put together a set of exam papers, the content of which was entirely taken from Lockhart's seven books.
Of course, the questions they posed weren't random things like "Lockhart's favorite color" or "Lockhart's secret ambitions," but rather some crucial magical questions.
For example, the third question was, "Why can a tea strainer catch a ghoul?" And the eighth question was, "What spell was used to drive away a werewolf?" It must have been really tough on those old wizards at the Wizarding Examinations Authority. Not only did they read Lockhart's book overnight, but they also created such a set of exam papers.
Fortunately, Lockhart would read books to them and have them perform related stage plays during class, so even Ron, who had never read those books, was able to get a relatively good grade.
Not to mention Harry, who's a monster specialist, he thinks he should get an O in this course.
When the last history of magic was finished, the once quiet and dull Hogwarts was instantly engulfed in cheers.
The exams are over, and the results won't be out for another week. In the meantime, they can play to their heart's content without having to worry about anything. What could be better than that?
The Gryffindors held an unprecedented mad rush in the common room. Tables were pushed together and piled high with cakes, cookies, snacks, and butterbeer of unknown origin. Everyone was in their pajamas, and the celebration lasted all night.
Celen didn't forget Tom either.
“Try it, I promised you.” Celen placed a piece of oddly colored meat in front of it and said with a smile, “Madame Pomfrey checked it and said it’s fine.”
On Halloween, Tom yelled, allowing Siron to escape the basilisk's gaze in time. Siron then said that he would let Tom taste the basilisk's flesh when the opportunity arose.
He's always remembered it.
This piece of meat was what he had prepared for Tom—the flesh from the basilisk's upper jaw, connected to its fangs. Because he wasn't sure if it was poisonous, he had Mrs. Pomfrey examine it.
Mrs. Pomfrey didn't ask anything, she just said it was no problem.
When Siron took out the piece of meat, Tom's fur stood on end, and he howled and yelped in fear.
After hearing what Xilun had to say, it relaxed a little, went over, and started eating the snake monster meat.
It ate with great difficulty, probably because it wasn't very tasty, but Tom still finished it all, even licking his lips and paws.
“You’re probably the only pet cat who’s ever eaten a basilisk,” Xilun said, scratching its chin. “And I have good news for you: no one will be able to compete with you for your name anymore.”
Tom looked up, seemingly not understanding what good news this was, but Celen wouldn't explain it to him.
It's just a cat; it wouldn't understand even if I explained it to it.
Afterwards, Celeste went to the Forbidden Forest to see Hagrid and Ruggieri. Thanks to the Phoenix Tears, their injuries were almost completely healed on the spot.
In recognition of Fulve's valiant act in killing the Basilisk, Headmaster Dumbledore granted him special permission to stay on the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest for a while.
Hagrid was overjoyed. Before, he had to walk a long way to see Lou Williams, but now he could get there in no time.
The horsemen weren't too happy and kept grumbling, but who cared about them?
Hagrid was even happier to see Siren arrive, and took him to Luwei's place.
Louie was sleeping when Celen saw it and was immediately terrified... It's only been a few days, but Louie seems to have grown bigger again, especially those three heads, which look like three locomotives. It's so scary.
Does a Cerberus grow that fast?
“No, that’s not it,” Hagrid said. “Generally speaking, twenty feet is the limit for Cerberus. But the headmaster said that Lucy accidentally ate the Basilisk’s heart and gallbladder that day, and those things were very beneficial to it.”
“But this is too fast. Even eating a fire dragon’s heart wouldn’t have this effect…” Xilun stopped mid-sentence.
Come to think of it, no one would feed a Cerberus a dragon's heart.
"But did Lu Wei really eat all those things?" Siren asked.
“Yes, I saw it too.” Hagrid sighed. “It just likes to eat random things, I’m really worried it’ll get an upset stomach.”
"Hmm..." Xilun opened his mouth, thinking that the three-headed dog shouldn't have any stomach problems.
