Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker

Chapter 177 Soul Weapon Fragments?

Chapter 177 Soul Weapon Fragments?

After class, Celen didn't rush back. Instead, he went to Hagrid's side and again advised him that it would be best to change the magical creature for the next class.

"Even if you really want to introduce Lou Williams to everyone, you can choose sixth and seventh grade classes. Cerberus is still a bit too exciting for third graders."

“Yes, yes, Siron is right.” Harry nodded vigorously from the side.

It's Hagrid, though. If it were any other professor, he definitely wouldn't have gone out of his way to approach him.

It's terrifying. The first three-headed dog they saw was less than ten feet tall and was already frightening, but now it's grown to twenty feet tall.

Even if it does nothing but lie there and doze off, it can make people nearby feel an indescribable sense of oppression.

Hagrid mumbled a few words, and it was unclear whether he had actually heard them. However, when Siren returned to the castle, he found a few more of Cerberus's whiskers in his pocket.

"Can the whiskers of a three-headed dog be used to make a wand core?" Harry asked in surprise.

“Of course,” Siren said. “Wands with this kind of core are particularly effective in certain spells.”

"Oh? What kind of magic?"

“Magic similar to physical attacks,” Siren said, “like the Rip, Cut, and Stun spells. But when casting pure magic like fire or water spells, the Cerberus wand is rather slow to react. And when using it to cast transmutation spells, it's no different from holding a stick.”

As Siron spoke, he glanced at Harry and happened to see the scar on his forehead.

That was left to him by Voldemort.

Wait, if Voldemort's soul exists in Harry's body, then is Harry now considered a Horcrux?

If we're talking about it, then it should be the only Horcrux that can be "destroyed" by human intervention.

Xilun narrowed his eyes, seemingly lost in thought, his expression becoming somewhat dazed.

"Is there such a saying? I've really learned something new."

Harry's voice brought Cyron back to his senses.

“What’s so special about that? I’ve even made wand cores out of wizards’ hair.” Siron spoke up, revealing a secret to Harry. “Professor McGonagall’s hair. It was truly an excellent transfiguration wand, and it didn’t conflict with Professor McGonagall’s original wand at all.”

Harry didn't understand the significance of using wizards' hair as wand cores; he only heard the second half of the sentence... "It doesn't conflict with the original wand."

"You mean you have a way to give me two wands at the same time?" he asked with a look of surprise.

“No.” Xiren shook his head and corrected, “It’s at least two strands. If you want, you can make all of your hair into a wand.”

"Can you make a wand out of my hair? Just one will do." Harry asked eagerly, "Then I won't have to worry about the Ministry of Magic finding out when I use magic during my holidays."

“Although I really don’t want to spoil your fun, Harry, the filament isn’t in the wand; it’s a special magical reaction. It’s always there as long as you’re underage, and it has nothing to do with what wand you use.”

"Is that so?" Harry said, looking somewhat disappointed.

"Do you still want your second wand?" Siron asked.

Harry hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

Although he felt it was unnecessary, since he had just said it, it wouldn't be good to go back on his word now.

Having a spare wand would be nice, since it wouldn't cost much anyway.

“Since you provided the wand core, I’ll give you seven Galleons,” Siron said. Harry didn’t object and paid seven Galleons on the spot.

And so, Siron naturally obtained a lock of Harry's hair, with the obvious reason that his hair was short and that it would be difficult to make a complete wand core if there wasn't enough of it.

……

During dinner that evening, Hagrid and his three-headed dog suddenly became the hottest topic at school.

Opinions differed. Some felt Hagrid was being too hasty and should have taken things more slowly. Others argued that since Dumbledore allowed Cerberus to remain at the school, it proved Cerberus was safe, and this was the best opportunity to get up close to him.

Malfoy suddenly stood up straight. Although he had been so scared during class that his legs were shaking, no one else knew it.

As one of the three closest to Cerberus, Malfoy immediately became the center of attention in Slytherin, holding his head high wherever he went.

“Look at the way he acts,” Ron said sourly. “Anyone who didn’t know better would think he was a hero who had survived countless battles.”

“It’s all your fault.” He looked at Hermione. “If you hadn’t said those things, Malfoy wouldn’t have run ahead.”

“I just wanted to help Hagrid!” Hermione said irritably. “I can’t have all the students outside the ‘classroom’ when he teaches his first class.”

While they were talking, Siron had already quickly finished his dinner and left the auditorium.

He went up to the eighth floor, passed through the hole in the portrait of the fat lady, and returned to his dormitory.

The first thing Xilun did was take the broom cabinet he had gotten at noon out of the deformed lizard skin bag and put it in the corner.

The lump was still inside, and its size hadn't changed at all.

He took out a pre-made staff and tried to guide Boggart into the core, but there was no response.

The thing seemed to exist in a state between existence and non-existence, and Xilun's guiding magic was completely useless.

After thinking about it, he decided to leave the cabinet alone. Perhaps he could find a solution once he found a few more Boggarts.

There's no rush.

Besides, this broom cabinet hasn't been used for a long time, so even if it's lost, no one would care.

Siren reached into his pocket and pulled out another find for the day… a tuft of Harry’s hair.

"Does this count as a fragment of a Horcrux?" Xilun couldn't help but wonder.

He casually picked up the staff from before, took out a hair, and tried to make it into a staff core for the first time.

The result was predictably a failure. The wizard's hair had extremely strict requirements for the staff, and the staff that Siron had was only made of hawthorn wood, not even holly wood, so there was a 99% chance of failure.

But that's not important. What's important is that during this process, Xilun had a vague feeling that was both familiar and strange.

It was similar to when he used Professor McGonagall's hair to make the core last time, but with some other things added, much like the feeling when he first created the Horcrux.

However, just as Xilun was trying to figure it out, the hawthorn wood staff exploded in the middle, and the hair that had just been made into the staff core quickly burned away and disappeared into the air.

Xilun tried two more, and both failed.

However, after the third staff was blown off, he was already quite certain... Harry's hair, while not exactly a Horcrux fragment, was different from others.

It's at least different from Professor McGonagall's.

"How about we try a few more times?"

Xilun looked at the tuft of hair, hesitated for a moment, and then put it away.

Well, first of all, I have to make the wand I promised Harry. After all, he's already received the money, and a wandmaker's reputation is very important.

If there are any left over, he can try a few more times... but there are still too few. If he had a hundred, he wouldn't need to be so careful with his money.

By the way, Harry's hair seems quite thick, doesn't it?
