Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 194 The Cancelled Match
Chapter 194 The Cancelled Match
Everyone has their own theory about how Sirius Black ended up in the castle. For example, Hannah Abbott of Hufflepuff… she insists that Sirius Black will turn into a flowering bush and tirelessly tells this conclusion to anyone willing to listen.
In a sense, she was right, or at least half right. Sirius could indeed transform himself into something else, but he wasn't a flowering shrub.
Xilun also left the school hospital on Monday morning without missing any classes and even had time to have breakfast.
As soon as I entered the auditorium, countless eyes turned to me.
The hottest topic in the castle right now is Sirius Black, and right behind him is Sirius, who drove him away. Everyone is curious about how Sirius managed to do it.
Rumors circulated that Sirius Black possessed ancient magic passed down through the Ollivander family for over two thousand years, and that he killed Sirius Black with a single move.
What's even more bizarre is that this claim spread wider and wider, with many people believing it wholeheartedly and even embellishing it for their friends, which in turn led to an even larger number of believers.
Everyone eagerly spread the word, and the whole castle was abuzz with discussion.
By the time the story reached Xilun's ears, it had become a complete and detailed account, including the name, effects, and spell of the spell, as well as its origin and history.
Even Xiren was stunned when he first heard the rumor. It was so real that he even wondered if Garrick was hiding something good from him.
Of course, that's impossible, since they're making wands, not spells.
"I didn't kill Sirius Black, and I don't know any of those flashy spells... I'm asking, who came up with this ridiculous name? Couldn't they have come up with something more normal?" On the way to Charms class, Sirius had lost count of how many times he had explained this.
But students kept coming to Xilen, asking if he could teach them the "Blazing Flash Spell," and they were willing to pay.
At first, Sirius patiently explained that he didn't know the strangely named spell and that he hadn't killed Sirius Black; he was just afraid the professor would run away.
But it was no use. Even when Xilun explained until his throat was dry, people kept coming to ask.
Later, he simply stopped explaining. If anyone asked again, he would teach them the "Blinking Lantern Charm" for one Galleon.
This is a life magic trick that Xilun accidentally learned last year while reading in the library. It can make the light inside a lantern flash frequently, mainly to add a bit of atmosphere to a banquet.
However, this effect actually matches the so-called "flashy magic spell" quite well.
In just a few days, Siron earned more than thirty Galleons, leaving Harry and the others dumbfounded.
"No, is making money really that easy?"
In the common room, Harry looked at Shiron, who was counting Galleons, and asked blankly, "Didn't you already show them the effect of the spell? Why are they still willing to pay?"
"Who knows? Maybe it's because they think this magic is cool." Xiren shrugged and put away the thirty-seven Galleons he had counted.
"They believe such outrageous rumors. They don't even know how to spend Galleons. It's fine to leave them with me for safekeeping."
"So you're still going to give the money back to them?" Hermione asked.
“It’s still impossible to pay it back, don’t even think about it,” Xilun blurted out.
“But you’re lying…” Hermione said hesitantly, “That wasn’t the magic that drove Sirius Black away at all.”
“Didn’t I tell them?” Siren retorted. “Or did I fail to demonstrate the spell’s effects?”
Hermione opened her mouth as if to say something but hesitated.
“I told them, and I even demonstrated it, but they didn’t believe me and kept bothering me,” Xiren said. “What could I do? I couldn’t exactly invent a spell on the spot and teach it to them, could I?”
“You’re right.” Fred and George walked in from outside.
"To be honest, you're still too kind..."
“You should price it at ten Galleons…” “Ten Galleons is out of the question.” Siren shook his head. “If it’s too much, the professors won’t stand idly by.”
"Speaking of which, didn't a single professor contact you?" Fred asked, puzzled.
“No.” Xiren shook his head.
"Not Snape either?"
“No,” Xiren said.
This was also what he found strange, because a Slytherin student had already complained, and it was a second-year student whom Siron didn't know.
He didn't complain because he realized he'd been tricked; rather, he regretted it after learning the magic and threatened to tell the professor if Siren didn't return the money.
Siren ignored him, and then the other person went to find Professor Snape.
Strangely, Snape hasn't come to him yet... and there was Potions class this morning, but Snape didn't say anything.
“Perhaps he thinks Slytherin wouldn’t care about a Galleon,” Siron said after a moment’s thought.
“Oh, we care far too much about this ‘little bit of money’,” George said through gritted teeth.
They didn't stay long; Oliver Wood soon called them away, along with Harry.
For them, there was something even more important than Sirius: their first Quidditch match was about to begin, a match against their arch-rivals, Slytherin.
Gryffindor hadn't won a three-peat in centuries, so even if Sirius Black were to appear on the Quidditch pitch and stand in the middle of the grass, it wouldn't stop the team from training.
But Professor McGonagall can.
"The match is paused?" In the auditorium, Oliver Wood stood up and shouted at Professor McGonagall at the front, "Why? We've trained in the pouring rain for so long, why can we just pause it like this!"
“Because of the Dementors.” Professor McGonagall seemed to be in a bad mood as well, her lips pressed tightly together.
“A Dementors have gone missing at Hogwarts, and they are demanding entry into the castle to search,” Professor McGonagall said coldly, without a trace of emotion, sounding as if Quirrell were reading from a textbook.
Let the Dementors into the castle?
The auditorium erupted in chaos, with everyone talking and a constant buzz of discussion.
On this matter, the four colleges reached a rare consensus, all expressing their opposition, with their voices growing louder and louder.
Nobody wants to get close to those creepy Dementors, nor do they want them to appear in their living area.
Harry reacted strongly, his face changed, and the terrible memory of encountering the Dementors on the train suddenly resurfaced. He subconsciously clenched his fists, his knuckles turning slightly white.
"Quiet!" Professor McGonagall had to put her wand to her throat and use magic to amplify her voice in order to barely drown out the fierce opposition.
“This is a requirement from the Ministry of Magic,” she continued in a formulaic voice. “Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge and Chief of the Auror Office Rufus Scrimgeour will be investigating the disappearance of the Dementors.”
“During this period, all school activities will be suspended.” She glanced at Oliver Wood as she said this, “including Quidditch.”
"When can we resume the game?"
"I don't know, maybe we'll have to wait until they find that stupid Dementor." Professor McGonagall offered no explanation, leaving only this sentence before hastily departing the Great Hall.
