Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 371 Witnessing Black Magic
Chapter 371 Witness the Dark Magic
Professor Moody's words sparked another round of discussion, and many students realized that so-called black magic was actually quite close to them.
Those Durmstrang students ate with them every day.
"Professor, can you teach us how to fight against dark magic?" someone suddenly raised their hand and asked.
Upon hearing this, Xilun silently lowered his hand that he had just raised.
“I’ve been doing this all along, Mr. Justin Finley,” Professor Moody said, looking at him.
"I mean, dealing with real black magic."
“There are many types of dark magic. If I were to teach you them all one by one, I’m afraid we wouldn’t finish learning them by the time we graduate,” Professor Moody said. “However, as long as you study my course diligently, you should be able to deal with most types of dark magic.”
"Can the Unforgivable Curse work too?" someone in the crowd asked.
It was Xilun, Moody's demonic eye that saw it.
“I can’t, Mr. Ollivander,” he said, his brow furrowing even deeper.
"If you truly understand the meaning of unforgivable curses, you'll know that they are inherently unbreakable."
In the classroom, many people looked on with a sense of realization.
Moody suddenly realized that Dumbledore seemed to be protecting these students too much. Even though they were already fourth-year students, many of them knew almost nothing about Dark Magic, which he found utterly ridiculous.
Oh, I almost forgot, Hogwarts doesn't even have a proper Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.
Think about those people before them—one was an idiot, another a fraud. Only Lupin was somewhat reliable. What could they possibly learn from these professors?
Looking at it this way, things make much more sense.
“Professor Moody,” Hermione raised her hand, “can you teach us how to deal with the Unforgiven Curse?”
“If someone casts an unforgivable curse on you, the only thing you can do is run as fast as you can and pray that the curse fails, Miss Lavender Brown.”
"Wait, what are you talking about? What is the Unforgivable Curse?" A small voice came from the crowd. It was the last two Hufflepuff students whispering to each other.
Other professors might not have heard such a faint sound at all, but Moody, a legendary Auror, heard it clearly.
After all, being constantly vigilant and observant of all changes around him had long become his instinct, which naturally included the students' conversations.
But it would have been better if he hadn't heard it at all. Moody's face darkened instantly, and his demonic eye stared unblinkingly at the other person.
He remembered that the wizard was from a Muggle family, and given the level of Hogwarts' Defense Against the Dark Arts class, it seemed understandable that he didn't know about the Unforgivable Curse.
Just then, the bell rang, and the sounds of other students from different grades playing and laughing could be heard outside.
“Alright, I think it’s necessary to show you what real dark magic is, so that you don’t end up losing your lives for nothing if you ever encounter it,” Moody said after a moment’s thought. “But we’ll have to wait until the next class, if I can convince Dumbledore.”
"Today's assignment is to explain in detail the precautions for using the Pathfinding Charm, as well as the changes needed to deal with different scenarios. It should be at least three feet long and submitted in class next week."
Then, he stepped onto the wooden prosthetic leg and left the classroom.
Xilun packed up his textbooks and parchment and left with the others.
“Three feet, that’s too much!” Ron was still complaining about the amount of homework when he turned around and saw that Celen was laughing.
"Oh, Celen, what's wrong with you? It's a three-foot-long assignment, and you can still laugh about it?"
"Did I laugh?" Siren asked.
“He smiled, and he looked very happy,” Ron said. “Ask Harry if you don’t believe me.”
Ha Li nodded vigorously.
“Well, actually, I thought of something that makes me happy,” Siron said with a smile. He was indeed quite happy; he had originally planned to use Durmstrang as a pretext to ask about the symbol of dark magic—the Unforgivable Curse.
Only in this way could he possibly learn how to cast the Killing Curse. The only downside is that it might arouse Professor Moody's suspicion, which would cause some trouble.
But to Xilun's surprise, he only started, and everyone else helped him finish the rest.
Oh, and Hermione deserves credit for that too; her question was quite crucial. If all goes well, Moody will definitely show them the Unforgivable Curse next class.
After all, ordinary dark magic doesn't require Dumbledore's consent.
Thinking of this, Xilun chuckled again.
"What's wrong that makes you so happy?" Ron asked suspiciously.
“Hmm… Hagrid has hatched another batch of Blasttails,” Celen blurted out.
"What?!" Ron almost jumped up on the spot, subconsciously recalling the days when he took care of the Blasttail.
It was a disaster, and he never wanted to experience it again.
“Oh, I misspoke.” Siren quickly waved his hand. “We’re going to Hogsmeade soon, and I can’t wait to have a hot butterbeer.”
"Now that you mention it, I'm starting to feel like having a drink too." Ron's throat bobbed.
The group continued walking towards the stairs.
With a little time before dinner, Ron suggested going back to the dorm to play a few games of Wizard's Chess.
“You guys play, I have to go to the library,” Hermione said, slinging her huge backpack over her shoulder and heading downstairs.
“Going to the library again,” Ron muttered. “We’re only in fourth grade; the OWL exams won’t be until next year.”
“But Hermione has always been like this,” Harry said, not finding anything strange about it.
It would be strange if Hermione suddenly didn't want to go to the library one day.
……
Saturday finally arrived, the Hogsmeade Day that everyone had been looking forward to.
Early that morning, Sirius and Ron left Hogwarts, with Harry, wearing the Invisibility Cloak, following not far behind. Hermione, having found a book that intrigued her, chose to stay in the common room and didn't come this time.
As they passed Black Lake, they noticed Viktor Krum swimming in it.
“Oh, has he gone mad?” Ron looked at Krum, whose head was the only part of his body sticking out of the water. “It’s January, and it snowed yesterday. It must be freezing in the lake!”
“Maybe he came from a place much colder than this,” Celen said. “Remember? Their school uniforms were the thickest of the three schools, and the only ones with fur cloaks.”
“That’s true,” Harry’s voice came from the side, “but there’s a giant squid in the lake, are you sure it’s okay?”
"It should be fine, I haven't heard of giant squid in the lake attacking students."
……
The group continued forward, and Xiren looked back again; he had vaguely seen something flash in the lake just now.
It seems that Krum has already unlocked the secret of the golden egg.
