Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 374 The Unforgivable Curse
Chapter 374 The Unforgivable Curse
The next day was the day Xiren looked forward to the most. Because it was Thursday, and there was a Defense Against the Dark Arts class in the afternoon.
During class last week, Professor Moody was shocked to discover that most of his students knew nothing about dark magic. After careful consideration, he decided to change his original course plan and give these students, who lacked basic knowledge of dark magic, a crash course.
However, this is Hogwarts, where there are strict restrictions on dark magic, and even teaching needs require prior application to the headmaster.
But it's not a big problem; given Dumbledore's personality, he should agree.
"If you ask me, Hogwarts is just too outdated."
During lunch, a Durmstrang student deliberately spoke loudly: "It's just a few dark spells, why do we need to apply to the headmaster?"
"You should know that at Durmstrang, there are black magic-related classes every week, and we can ask the professors questions to our heart's content. The library also opens up relevant books for everyone to consult."
"But here in your country... tsk, banned books, how ridiculous."
His tone was full of arrogance and disdain, as if learning dark magic was some kind of extraordinary thing.
"Yeah, and then your Warriors became the only ones who had to be carried off the court."
A faint voice suddenly rang out from the crowd. Moments later, the auditorium was filled with various suppressed snickers.
The Durmstrang boy's face turned bright red instantly.
“That match was unfair from the start, it was your conspiracy!” he roared. “Krum was facing the Hungarian Hornet! I think you were scared, so you conspired to target Demstrand.”
"That big oaf doesn't even need to be targeted?" Ron muttered dismissively at the Gryffindor table.
Just a few months ago, he was Viktor Krum's most ardent admirer, but his attitude has been changing ever since Krum became a Triwizard Tournament champion.
The Triwizard Tournament title is the highest honor for magic schools in Europe. No one can stop Hogwarts from winning, not even the world's top football stars.
Furthermore, after spending more time with them, they discovered that Durmstrang's students were really annoying.
"I thought you should have known long ago."
When he first heard such remarks, Siron calmly looked at them and said, "Durmstrang is a magic school that only admits pure-blood wizards. Think of Slytherin. Oh no, at least there are some half-bloods in Slytherin."
After hearing what Siren said, Harry subconsciously pictured hundreds of Malfoys in class together...
That was horrible. Harry almost threw his fork away. Taking a class in a place like that would be a disaster.
Meanwhile, the Durmstrang student was still bragging about how great their school was and how interesting dark magic was. Quite a few Slytherins and Ravenclaws actually looked quite interested.
In contrast, there were far fewer people from the remaining two colleges; only a handful of lower-year students glanced in that direction.
"A bunch of idiots." After leaving this comment, Hermione got up and left the Great Hall.
"Where are you going?" Ron swallowed the roasted potato in his mouth and asked, "We haven't finished eating yet."
"library!"
"Oh, why is she at the library again!"
“Isn’t this normal?” Siron shrugged. “Hermione goes to the library every day.”
"Okay, you're right."
……
After lunch, they arrived early outside Moody's classroom to wait. Hermione was the last one; she didn't arrive until almost time for class.
As the school bell rang, Moody walked into the classroom on time, but to everyone's surprise, Professor Flitwick followed him in.
He didn't say anything, just stood quietly in the corner of the classroom.
“Good news,” Moody said with a smile… well, he was probably smiling, though his face looked even more terrifying. “Dumbledore has approved my application. It seems he also thinks you need to see what real dark magic is like beforehand.”
The students below all looked up at the same time.
"Well... alright, does any of you know what the Unforgivable Curse is?"
Several hands were raised hesitantly, which made Professor Moody look somewhat displeased.
"Only a few people know this?" His blue demonic eye spun rapidly, scanning everyone.
"So you haven't done anything all week, have you? Not even bothered to ask what the Unforgivable Curse is?"
Nearly half of the students instinctively lowered their heads, not daring to look Moody in the eye.
"You knew this beforehand, yet you made no preparations. To put it bluntly, if this had happened a decade or two ago when the Death Eaters were rampaging, you people would probably..."
“Professor Moody!” Professor Flitwick interrupted him. “I guess they probably assumed Headmaster Dumbledore wouldn’t approve your application, which is why they didn’t pay attention.”
"If possible, could we start sooner? I still have a lot of assignments to grade."
Professor Moody's lips moved slightly.
“Mr. Potter, tell us what the Unforgivable Curse is.”
“That’s right.” Harry stood up, trying to recall what Hermione had told him earlier.
“The Imperish Curse, the Cruciatus Curse, and…” He paused slightly, then continued after a few seconds, “The Avada Kedavra Curse.”
“Absolutely right,” Moody said, but he didn’t give Gryffindor any extra points; he simply waved for Harry to sit down.
"So, has any of you actually seen this spell?"
No one raised their hands.
“As expected,” Moody said. He opened the drawer of his lectern, took a large black spider from a glass bottle, pointed it at it with his wand, and murmured, “Out of body!”
The spider's body stiffened at first, and then began to jump as Moody commanded.
It obviously did somersaults, and then ran around the table on its two hind legs like a monkey. Moody flicked his wand, and it started to dance a comical tap dance.
Everyone laughed.
"Isn't it interesting?"
Moody said that everyone immediately shut their mouths and sat up straight.
“And the Cruciatus Curse,” Moody continued. “I need Professor Flitwick’s help with this spell.”
help?
Before Celen could figure out how this could help, he saw Moody open his arms.
"Come on, cast the Cruciatus Curse on me."
"It's just a lesson, is it really necessary to go to such lengths?" Professor Flitwick hesitated.
“It’s absolutely necessary. As we discussed before, this is the most straightforward way, isn’t it?”
Moody said with a serious expression, "If they don't really realize how terrible the Unforgivable Curse is, they'll probably still think it's some kind of ridiculous magical trick."
