Chapter 128, Section 127: The Mist
Casper's sudden shout brought the pirates, who had already begun their charge, to an abrupt halt, and everyone stared at him in bewilderment.

Boss, did you... step on a nail?

After a brief roar, Casper quickly fell silent.

"Boss?" Galon, who was closest, asked tentatively.

His entire future now rested on Casper's shoulders, and among those present, he cared about Casper more than the two pirate ship's first mates.

Casper's arm twitched slightly, then he raised it and waved it casually to indicate that he was alright.

Galon breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this, but the two Gold-class first mates took a step back in unison after seeing the stiff waving gesture, and simultaneously raised their weapons towards Casper.

"What the hell is that?" the first mate roared, his voice tinged with terror.

"What happened?" Galon was completely taken aback. How did the pirates on the Blood Shark suddenly start fighting amongst themselves?
Shouldn't they have dealt with the people on the Wind Feather first before starting any internal strife?

Seeing that she had failed to deceive the two pirate ship vice-presidents, Lin Jun was somewhat disappointed and controlled the scout to pull the mycelial tentacles out of Casper's body. With a quick slash, she cut open the neck of the bewildered Galon in front of her—she had originally thought she could ambush another Gold-ranked pirate.

Just as Gerhard hadn't expected Galon to launch a sneak attack, Galon hadn't expected to be attacked in front of Casper, or rather, attacked by the stool beneath Casper.

Galon clutched his neck with one hand and frantically grabbed at his waist with the other, trying to pull out medicine from the pouch at his waist. If he cut his throat, he could get treatment in time... The scout then stabbed him in the wrist.

Ignoring the fat, dark-skinned man waiting to die at her feet, Lin Jun focused her attention on the two Gold-level pirates who looked terrified but were on high alert.

To be honest, Lin Jun didn't want to get involved in this matter. Getting involved would expose her. Although she could try to cover it up later by saying that it was a magical pet controlled by Dylan, there would still be flaws that couldn't withstand scrutiny.

If the pirates only stole some goods and money, leaving the people and ships behind, Lin Jun would have turned a blind eye.

I never imagined these people were so greedy; they wanted to capture everyone and enslave them!

This seems to violate the rules here, and I don't know what's going on in the archipelago.

Lin Jun naturally couldn't let Dylan take the detour to experience slave life again, so she could only meddle in this matter.

The original plan was to launch a sneak attack once the pirates and the Windfeather were engaged in battle, and the captain had drawn their attention. Unexpectedly, this cannon fodder teammate was killed before the fight even began…

waste!

The scout is now facing two Gold-level enemies alone, and there might also be a wind mage on the Blood Shark. We need to finish this quickly before the enemy can react.

But keep in mind that the other side also has more than thirty pirates, all ranging from bronze to silver level, but so many people are still a problem.

The only usable item on my side is Dylan. With two skill-enhancing items, he's about half a Gold-tier character.

As for the sailors and passengers?
The way they looked at the scouts was no better than that of the pirates; their eyes were filled with terror.

Who made Scout Puji's current image a killing chair...?

Kasper, who had just been in complete control, was now lying on the deck, bleeding almost dry from the wounds on his lower body. Who wouldn't be horrified to see that?

There was no other way but to bite the bullet and go for it, hoping that fear would deter the ordinary pirates.

puff--

With a thud, he stepped forward, and everyone except the two pirate captains took a step back, including the sailors in the distance.

Dylan raised his longsword, intending to immediately coordinate with the scout, Puji.

But just before Lin Jun was about to launch an attack, she stopped herself.

Why is [Magic Perception] suddenly not working properly?

Since there was no fungal net to provide vision, Lin Jun equipped the scout Puji with a variety of sensory skills: light, airflow, sound waves, and magic.

The combat states are all activated simultaneously, which Lin Jun can handle.

But now, the perspective of magic perception suddenly became blurred, or more precisely, the vision was obscured by the magic that suddenly appeared around the Windfeather... just like... fog!
wrong!

It's really foggy!
In [Light Perception], the surrounding visibility had decreased significantly at some point, and even the three moons in the sky were almost swallowed up, but it wasn't as obvious as the changes in the surrounding magic, so Lin Jun ignored it for a moment. Moreover, the fog was getting thicker and thicker.

This is definitely not ordinary fog; at least, ordinary fog could not possibly contain such a concentrated amount of magic.

In the minute that the scout stopped, the moonlight rapidly faded until only a faint glimmer remained, and the others present finally noticed the sudden thick fog.

"Is it the mist?"

It's unclear who asked the question, but it quickly caused panic among the crowd, whether they were sailors or pirates.

"Mist? That means we're doomed!" A pirate stumbled and knocked over a barrel beside him, the fear in his eyes even more intense than when he witnessed Casper's death.

"How is that possible? This place is so far from the border!"

"Isn't that the stool that killed the boss the Mist Monster?"

"Damn it, who cares if the boat leaves soon or not!"

Where are the guys on this ship?

"Kasper's dead, who cares about these guys!"

Chaos was clearly brewing within the pirate crew, and the two first mates exchanged a glance, also considering retreating.

The moon was completely obscured by thick fog, plunging the ship into darkness.

Suddenly, a light appeared in the darkness; it was Gerhard, who had caught his breath, lighting up the illumination crystal in his hand.

"This is a moving fog of war; it's probably too late to run now."

“Nonsense, what do you know?” one of the pirates said skeptically.

Gerhard suddenly roared:
"Twenty years ago, I encountered the Golden Griffin on the west side of Giant Horn Island!"

Of the 82 people on board, only 3 survived!
We are all in danger now, and if we act individually, we will inevitably suffer the same fate as before.

Now, whether you're a pirate, one of my crew members, or a passenger, you all have to listen to me!

Otherwise, no one would survive.

If you don't believe me, you can come and kill me right now. Since you're going to die anyway, you might as well be easily killed with a single blow!

Gerhard's last sentence was addressed to the pirates.

The pirates were momentarily stunned, but none of them dared to obey Gerhard, who had just been their enemy.

Until an old pirate said, "The Golden Griffin... I think I've heard of it. It did indeed sink in the fog, but I heard it crossed the border..."

“That’s a rumor!” Gerhard said again. “From the captain to the first mate, the Golden Griffin was a prominent figure in the archipelago back then. How could they not be able to distinguish the boundaries? It was the moving fog, the kind of fog that is so hard to guard against, that caused the Golden Griffin to get stuck in it!”

For a time, even Dylan and Lin Jun almost believed Gerhard's words.

The pirate first mate gritted his teeth: "Fine! We'll listen to you for now. What do you suggest? I'm warning you, don't try anything funny. If we can get through this peacefully, we'll all be fine afterward. But if you dare to have any wicked thoughts, I'll kill you on the spot!"

"Whatever you want!" Gerhard stood up, leaning against the wall.

"What about that thing?" the pirate's second mate asked, pointing at the scout.

This stumped Gerhard, who genuinely had no idea what this killing bench was; it was completely different from the enemy he remembered in the mist.

During the brief silence, Dylan walked out, scratching his head.

"That... is my magical pet..."
