Chapter 33 Dream

The boy's consciousness drifted in the biting cold. A gust of wind, laced with ice crystals, whipped his cheeks, and his nostrils filled with the rusty smell of cold. He vaguely felt his ribs rubbing against a broad back. The man's heavy breathing mingled with ice, and the snow dust exploded into a fine white mist on the soles of his boots.

"Блядь! They're coming! Run!"

The man suddenly turned and shouted, the sound shaking the snow from the pine branches. The boy barely managed to look up from the jolt and glimpsed the woman, kneeling and firing, seven steps away. The Colt Python's muzzle blasted six tongues of golden-red flame, the shell tumbling into the snow in a cloud of smoke. Her dark brown curls billowed like seaweed in the blast.

The boy saw her pupils glowing a cold amber when she looked back. The woman's eyes were firm, and she seemed to be whispering something, but he couldn't hear clearly. Her face, except for her eyes, was as hazy as clouds, leaving only a vague outline that was unrecognizable.

The tremors of the frozen ground suddenly intensified. The man stumbled, throwing the boy into a snowdrift. The boy struggled to his feet. Thirty steps away, the blizzard was being torn apart by something. A six-meter-tall black shadow, suffused with the smell of sulfur, crashed through the fir forest, its blood-red pupils sweeping over the three of them like searchlights.

"Run!" The man's roar echoed simultaneously with the crackle of bone wings tearing through the air. The boy's heart pounded wildly, as if it was about to shatter the cage within his chest. He watched as the demon's sharp claws tore through the air, the wind pressure blowing the woman's projectile into a twisted silver thread.
What happened next?
Gu Yi didn’t know because he was awake.

·
The red light of the alarm spread in the classroom. Gu Yi opened his heavy eyelids and the hammer sounds of six Beretta 92FS rifles rang out in unison.

"Gu Yi! Calm down! Calm down! You're awake now." Guderian almost pounced on him. "You're finally awake!"

Professor Manstein stepped forward. "What's your name?"

"Gu Yi." The boy instinctively curled his fingers, finding his palms sticky with cold sweat. His memories were like film cut by a sharp blade. He only remembered the end of that nightmare: inky darkness swarming from all sides. The next time he opened his eyes, he was trapped in this absurd encirclement. In the distance, hurried footsteps echoed in the corridor; a passing student was being sternly expelled by security.

"Where are you?"

"Kassel College, 3e Examination Room." Gu Yi noticed the overturned desks and chairs around him, and the scattered test papers were covered in messy shoe prints.

Guderian suddenly collapsed to the ground and said, "Praise God, we won't die in the line of duty."

"Gu Yi, do you remember what happened?" Manstein's tone softened.

Gu Yi shook his head blankly. "I just remember that I was suddenly shrouded in darkness, and then... then I had a dream."

Guderian suddenly jumped up. "You make the other candidates lose their clairvoyance at the same time! Then you start answering the questions. After you finish, you suddenly start..." He stood on his tiptoes and spun in a comical circle. "Start dancing ballet! Laughing maniacally while dancing, and smashing things!"

Gu Yi's pupils suddenly constricted, and he looked down at his shoes. The muzzles of the executive officers' guns simultaneously rose two inches with this movement, and the sound of metal rubbing echoed in the room.

"Wait a minute, professor, how about ballet?" Gu Yi held his forehead with his hand.

"Yeah! I didn't know you studied ballet."

"I've never taken ballet. I've never even danced."

Manstein frowned upon hearing this and raised his hand to signal him to put down the gun. "Professor Masashi Toyama, you may come in and conduct a preliminary diagnosis."

The footsteps through the door were as light as a cat's. Masashi Toyama walked through the gunfire, carrying a black medical kit. The school emblem etched on the kit flickered under the alarm lights. The psychology department head placed the kit flat on the desk.

"Student Gu Yi, are you feeling unwell now?" Masashi Toyama asked gently.

Gu Yi shook his head, "No, I'm fine everywhere."

"It might be a little dazzling." Masashi Toyama said as he pressed the silver flashlight. Gu Yi closed his eyes reflexively, and his eyelashes cast a fence-like shadow in the strong light.

"From what I can tell, he's stable now." The executive department's muscles relaxed slightly at Toyama Masashi's words. "But we need you to go to the hospital for a thorough physical examination. Is that okay?"

"Okay." The boy stood up by supporting himself on the desk.

On the screen, the boy hummed a song as he answered questions. His pencil traced a serpentine path across the blank paper. After finishing the test, he suddenly flung the pencil away, tapping his toes with the glee of a mischievous child. The desks and chairs became his impromptu ballet steps. Whenever he encountered an obstacle, he would single-handedly lift the edge of a table and fling it into the corner, the shattering sound becoming an impromptu accompaniment to his tap dance. When he tired of dancing, he rolled over onto the windowsill, swinging his legs and gazing at the stained glass windows blocked by the black curtain wall. In a moment, he leaped back to the ground and continued spinning, like a tin soldier driven by a perpetual spring.

The vice-president took a swig of whiskey, the amber liquid dripping down his beard. "You danced very well," he burped. "With this level, you can easily get into the Bolshoi Theatre."

A wisp of cobalt blue smoke rose from the cigar between Ange's fingers, and his eyes reflected the cold light of the screen. "Indeed, I can tell from one look that he has practiced it."

"Taking the 3e exam caused such a big fuss. It even went viral on the Night Watch forum! Thankfully, we were able to contain his subsequent strange behavior." The Vice Principal sighed and wiped his face with melted ice from the bucket. "How can this be explained? I've never seen anything this strange since the school was founded."

Ange gently placed the celadon teacup back on the tray. The sound of the bottom of the teacup hitting the tray was as crisp as a chime. "It's just that the psychic vision reaction was a little bit strong."

"A bit big? Are you crazy? Is this a bit big?" The vice principal played the video: the xenon lamps hanging on the dome exploded one after another, and the flying glass shards vaporized into crystal dust the moment they touched Gu Yi's hair.

The vice-principal pointed at the video and asked, "What is this? The Royal Domain? Did you find me a Dragon King?"

Ange shook his head slightly. "If this is the King's Domain, then no one around the examination room would be alive. The King's Domain is only for the Dragon King. Within the domain, the Dragon King's spiritual will will form an absolute suppression. This is still far from the King's Domain."

"But he did form a spiritual field, right? Have you ever seen a hybrid with something like that?"

"I've seen it, three of them." Angé lifted the lid of the tea, and the steam from Biluochun gathered into mist between his brows.

"Who?"

"Meineke Cassel."

"anything else?"

"The Emperor of Japan."

"Where's the last one?"

"I."

The Vice Principal slumped into his leather swivel chair, the springs groaning under the strain. He stared at the swaying bronze chandelier, as if trying to find an answer in its Baroque fleur-de-lis pattern.

"How could I have forgotten you, old man?"

"Anyway, it's not a big deal," Ange stood up. "When reporting to the school board, just say that Gu Yi activated his golden eyes, creating a tremendous pressure that caused the other candidates in the same exam room to lose their clairvoyance."

"Will they believe it?"

“They will definitely believe it.”

"why?"

“I demonstrate it in front of them all the time.”

"..."

"Mans is about to arrive. I'll go meet him and leave the rest to you." After saying that, Ange left the room.

The vice principal looked at Ange's departing figure and sighed: "Is it about to begin?"
