Dragon Clan: Avoid the College Entrance Examination to Slay the Dragon
Chapter 51: Wind in the Building
Chapter 51: Wind in the Building (Part 1)
The top floor suite of the Peninsula Hotel was shrouded in the gray-blue tones of the rain. Gu Yi opened the ThinkPad T61 that he had just asked the Executive Bureau for.
Gu Yi took off his coat and fell on the goose down mattress. Soon after turning on the computer, QQ pop-up windows filled the entire screen.
Lu Mingfei's panda head avatar was jumping wildly, and the message log from three days ago began to pile up like a red waterfall:
"Here? How's the food in Cassel?"
"Damn, you're not really going to be arrested and brainwashed, are you?"
"Oh my god, buddy, you've been scammed, right?"
"But you're so strong that no fraud organization can catch you!"
The last four messages were frozen two hours ago, and every word was soaked with the unique panic of a loser.
Gu Yi tapped on the keyboard, "I haven't checked QQ much these days, sorry."
The message alert sounded almost at the moment the Enter key was pressed.
"You scared me to death, what are you doing?" The panda's head shook wildly.
"Busy with work." Gu Yi tore off his stiff tactical vest.
"Are you really committing online fraud?" the other party replied immediately.
"Get lost, I'm really busy with work." Gu Yi rolled his eyes at the screen.
"Okay, I won't ask too many questions, nor do I dare to ask too many questions." Panda Hair made a crying soybean expression.
"It's only morning in China, why are you up so early?" Gu Yi glanced at the clock and saw it showed 18:13
"No, I'm still staying up all night at the internet cafe, but the network administrator is going to reboot the system soon, so I plan to go eat that soup dumplings place."
"Your aunt doesn't care about you anymore?" Gu Yi was stunned. Today is Wednesday, and he can actually stay up all night?
"No, they were out yesterday.
"Okay, are you still playing StarCraft? I heard CF is very popular?"
"I mainly play with Old Tang. I'm not as good at CF as I am at StarCraft."
"You're still hanging out with Old Tang. I think it's quite abstract that you two can become close friends despite being separated by an internet cable."
"You know shit! I'm done. I need to get off the plane. Remember to check the news next time! Don't play dead!"
Lu Mingfei’s profile picture dimmed.
Gu Yi closed the computer and went to take a shower.
When I stood up, my tall figure was reflected in the frosted glass of the bathroom. The moment the shower knob was turned to the hot water setting, I heard a rustling sound outside.
"Don't go yet, I'm still here." CC sat cross-legged among the messy bedding, the oversized collar of his shirt slipped to his shoulders, and his long black silk hair fell on the silk pillowcase, creating ripples in the moonlight.
Gu Yi's forehead veins throbbed slightly: "What are you going to do?"
With bare feet as white as porcelain, CC suddenly pushed off the down pillow, arching her back like a cat and leaping into the boy's shadow. The hem of her linen shirt billowed like the wings of a wounded white dove.
"Let's chat." She turned her head to look at Gu Yi. "I haven't seen you much lately. You just killed a dragon monster, and I'm here to do some post-battle psychological conditioning - how's the Word Spirit doing?"
Gu Yi leaned against the door frame and said indifferently, "It's okay."
"Stop pretending!" CC jumped back onto the bed. "You're really unhappy that it was able to keep up with you during the battle, right?"
Gu Yi frowned: "According to the test, I can only reduce the speed of time around me by twenty times at most. How can I make it faster?"
CC propped up her head on the bed, "It's very simple. Use it more often and you'll become more proficient in it. The more you use it, the more effective your words will become."
"Speaking of which, I have something to ask you. Why can I use the Word Spirit in Kassel?"
The girl laughed, a sly glint forming at the corners of her eyes. "Do you really think the Vice-Principal's rules can completely suppress you? You two have similar bloodlines!"
"Discipline? What is that? Word Spirit?"
"Yes, the Word Spirit: Discipline is serial number 106. It's a spiritual Word Spirit. The user creates a domain centered on themselves. Within this domain, the Word Spirit abilities of all dragons and hybrids are suppressed, unless their bloodline is higher than the user's." The girl explained, "By forcing individuals within the domain to abide by the 'commandments,' they are stripped of their right to use Word Spirits, like surrendering their weapons." "The Vice Principal's commandments can cover the entire academy? That's impressive."
"Of course, he's a top alchemist, but the only way he can maintain such a wide range of rules and maintain them for such a long time is because of what's inside that clock tower."
Gu Yi narrowed his eyes: "So you still have a good understanding of reality?"
CC looked diagonally upwards and whistled, obviously feigning innocence.
Gu Yi was too lazy to argue with her, "Is there any way to increase my attack power?"
"Oh my god," CC suddenly turned over and sat up, the hem of his shirt rolled up to reveal half of his porcelain-white waistline. "You are as fierce as a humanoid beast now, and you are still not satisfied?"
"It was difficult for me to break through the dragon monster's defense today."
The girl sighed. "You're so greedy... There are other methods, but I don't need to teach you. Those lunatics in Cassel will teach you that method soon. However, using it will cost you a price, even your soul."
“Are the side effects so severe?”
"All gifts have a price." CC leaned back, tapping his fingertips on the wooden edge of the bed. "What kind of power comes without a price? The key is whether you are willing to sell your soul for a good price."
Gu Yi lowered his eyelashes, letting the girl's sophistry float in the damp air. He was all too familiar with this rhythm of conversation, like fishing, when some silver fish always took hold of the bait and cunningly spit it out, leaving only a string of sarcastic bubbles on the surface.
"This incident is very complicated. What do you know?" He changed the subject.
CC suddenly fell back on the goose down pillow, "I don't know."
"Is this a lie?"
The girl suddenly propped herself up on her elbows and asked, "Guess?"
She tilted her head and smiled, her pupils the same amber as the boy's. "I'm just a divine girl parasitic in your sea of consciousness. How could I possibly know so much about what's happening outside?"
The words were cut off by Gu Yi's sudden approach. The boy pressed his knuckles against the edge of the bed, his shadow looming over the girl. "But you understand why the Vice Principal's discipline is so powerful, and you also know Cassel's hidden techniques."
"Shh..." Cold fingertips touched his lips, and CC tilted his neck upwards. "I told you we're in a storm now. Be patient. Sooner or later, you'll see clearly the demons and monsters floating in the storm."
Suddenly, Caesar's voice came over the vibration of the door: "Gu Yi, why didn't you answer the phone? Do you want to go eat?"
"You won't open the door for your friend?" She said with a smile on her lips, her tongue curling with honey-like endings, "Or do you want me to sleep with you again?"
Gu Yi stood up and left. He heard a long sigh behind him.
Caesar leaned against the door frame. "I know a great restaurant nearby. Shall we go? It's my treat."
Gu Yi nodded, "Okay."
"Then I'll wait for you downstairs."
"Wait a minute!" Gu Yi called out to Caesar, "Why don't you let me continue asking questions today?"
"Because this matter is very complex, it's not for us to ask." Caesar tilted his head. "There are only a few forces in this world capable of producing that potion, and the vast majority are our own people. Do you understand?"
"Is that so..." Gu Yi murmured.
"Go take a shower first. I'm going too," Caesar said. "I see the water is still running."
Only then did Gu Yi remember that he had not turned off the water. He suddenly felt guilty and thought that he had wasted water resources.
"Okay, I'm going now."
Gu Yi watched Caesar leave and closed the door.
The sound of the door closing shattered the silence in the room. Gu Yi looked at the empty bed, where moonlight streamed across the duvet like a pale riverbed, as if the girl had never been there.
