Soldiers Assault: Starting from the 7th Steel Company

Chapter 214 The Boss Behind the Scenes

Chapter 214 The Boss Behind the Scenes
The armored convoy kicked up clouds of red dust as it drove toward the tribal settlement, guided by Kasongo.

“Our tribe is not far ahead,” Kasongo explained.

Chen Jiang gripped the Type 95 automatic rifle tightly in his hand, his eyes scanning the tropical jungle ahead like those of a hawk.

"Stop!"

Chen Jiang coldly gave the order, and the convoy immediately came to a halt.

"What's wrong?" Kasongo asked, somewhat puzzled.

"This road is too quiet. I have a feeling something is wrong."

Chen Jiang had already sensed an ambush ahead; several mercenaries had set a trap, waiting for him to take it.

"Fire at 1 o'clock! Full firepower!"

Under Chen Jiang's training, the Third Battalion had long been able to operate with perfect ease. Now, upon hearing the battalion commander's order, even though they couldn't clearly see what the situation was at the 1 o'clock position, everyone resolutely carried out the order.

Several machine guns opened fire in that direction, eliciting screams and several explosions.

Needless to say, the Ninth Company's firepower detonated the bait mines they had set up by the roadside, severely damaging the enemy.

Chen Jiang put down his binoculars. "Charge! Don't be stingy with your bullets. Shoot anything suspicious you see."

If the enemy is fierce, you must be even fiercer!

This is his secret weapon for survival in Africa!
Before the words were even finished, a burst of gunfire suddenly erupted from the jungle. Bullets struck the armor with a sound like a torrential downpour.

"Counterattack!" Chen Jiang ordered, and the machine gun on the roof of the vehicle spewed fire. The well-trained soldiers quickly dismounted and established a defensive line, their precise bursts of fire forcing the ambushers out of their cover.

Kasongo suddenly pointed to his right: "That guy in the black beret came to my house! I saw him yesterday!"

Following the direction he was pointing, Chen Jiang saw a white man shouting something into a walkie-talkie.

He immediately raised his gun and aimed, but the other man cunningly hid behind a tree.

Chen Jiang gave a cold laugh.
Can you really hide?
He attached a grenade to his rifle and fired it at one side of the tree. Needless to say, the enemy was completely obliterated.

After dealing with these minor enemies, Chen Jiang's convoy sped forward.

Passing through a banana grove, the view suddenly opened up—a dozen or so brick houses with thatched roofs surrounded a white Western-style building in the center, typical colonial-era architecture. But now, corpses lay scattered across the square, their blood staining the sand.

"Father!" Kasongo frantically tried to get out of the car and rush towards the mansion. Chen Jiang grabbed him and pulled him back: "Be careful!"

Almost simultaneously, a bullet struck the door panel of the armored vehicle.

"Second-floor balcony, three o'clock position," Chen Jiang directed via hand gestures. "Heavy machine gun cover!"

As the heavy machine guns unleashed their full firepower, the second-floor balcony was reduced to rubble, and a sniper hiding behind it was riddled with bullets.

After confirming that there were no other snipers nearby, Chen Jiang ordered everyone to get out of the vehicle.

He led Kasongo quickly to the side of the building, kicked open the back door, and rushed inside.

The other soldiers quickly formed tactical formations and advanced towards the thatched huts.

The house was a mess, with bullet holes in some of the old furniture. They went up the stairs to the second floor and heard cursing coming from the bedroom.

Chen Jiang made a tactical hand signal, and two soldiers kicked open the door and rolled in. The scene in the conference room made Kasongo let out a heart-wrenching roar—the old chief was tied to a chair, with a black plastic bag over his head.

"Put down your weapons!" a hooded man shouted in broken English, pointing a pistol at the old chief's temple. "Or I'll kill him!"

Chen Jiang noticed the old chief's hands on his chest and seemed to have discovered something.

"Oh, go ahead and shoot. I don't even know him." Chen Jiang made a nonchalant gesture, still raising his gun and aiming.

"No, that's my father!" Kasongo cried out anxiously.

Chen Jiang remained unmoved, instead staring at the other party with a mocking expression.

"Guess who's faster, you or me?"

Just as the other party was stunned and wondered if the guy in front of him had something wrong with his head, Chen Jiang fired a shot. With a casual shot, the hooded man's head exploded like a watermelon, and his hand holding the gun fell limply to his side.

The two little karami behind him were taken aback by this scene, wondering why it was not quite what they had expected.
In that brief moment of hesitation, Chen Jiang fired his rifle again, killing both men instantly.

Upon seeing the enemy eliminated, Kasongo immediately wanted to rush forward to rescue his father. Unexpectedly, the "old chieftain" on the chair suddenly sprang up and seized Kasongo with lightning speed. A gleaming dagger was pressed firmly against Kasongo's neck, already leaving bloodstains.

"How about that? Your gun's fast, but my knife won't be too slow. Want to have another speed contest?" The other party was very cunning, blocking Kasongo in front of him and not giving Chen Jiang a chance to aim.

In fact, Chen Jiang already knew that the other party was not the old chief, but if he opened fire when he came in, could he explain it clearly in a short time?

Most importantly, he wanted Kasongo to see clearly what the other side was up to and what kind of thing it was.

At that moment, Kasongo had no time to worry about his own safety; he was still shouting, "Where is my father? Where have you taken my father?"

"Hehe, don't worry, he's been taken away by us and is in a very safe place," the other party said with a sinister smile.

Seeing Kasongo's frustrated expression, Chen Jiang knew that the other party had figured out who was behind all of this. He simply pulled out a grenade and threw it at him.

Although the other party was a mercenary with rich combat experience, he was still afraid of death at heart. When he saw Chen Jiang play by his own rules and throw a grenade at him, he instinctively wanted to dodge. In that split second, his weakness was exposed. With Chen Jiang's skills, he would not miss such a good opportunity.

"Snapped!"

With a crisp gunshot, Blackhead fell to the ground, his eyes wide open in death.

Still shaken, Kasongo struggled to remove the other person's hood; sure enough, it was a Westerner.

“This must be one of those mercenaries.” Chen Jiang coldly stared at the corpse on the ground.

"Where have they taken my father? Please help me." Kasongo had lost his former arrogance; he knew that only the young officer in front of him could help him.

"Commander, we've found something here!"

Suddenly, a soldier came to report.

"What's going on?" Chen Jiang had a bad feeling.

"Battalion Commander, come and see for yourself."

The soldier hesitated, as if he wanted to speak. Chen Jiang led Kasongo to the place the soldier had pointed out. Kasongo was devastated; wasn't that the old chieftain?

But now it's clear he's been murdered.
"Battalion Commander, judging from the situation of the S body, it seems to have happened several hours ago," a platoon leader from the Ninth Company reported to Chen Jiang.

Kasongo was even more furious when he heard this. Wasn't this obviously something he had done before he led his men to cause trouble for Chen Jiang and his group?
These people are two-faced; how despicable they are!

"Sir, I want revenge! If you help me, I promise my people will never cause trouble again."

Chen Jiang pulled him back from kneeling down and sincerely said, "I still stand by what I said: our peacekeeping force is here to bring peace and a better life to everyone, not to make deals."

He smiled. "So we don't need you to agree to any conditions or make any promises. Since they dare to be so presumptuous right under our noses, we naturally won't sit idly by."

The Ninth Company's elite troops relentlessly pursued the mercenary squad, engaging in a thrilling chase through the jungle.

Chen Jiang led the main force of the Ninth Company in a rapid pursuit, following the trail left by the mercenaries as they hastily retreated.

"Battalion Commander, bloodstains have been found ahead!" Gan Xiaoning reported in a low voice.

Now he is also a veteran of the Ninth Company. Although he is still a second-term sergeant, he is also one of the combat backbones and serves as the acting platoon leader of the second platoon.

Chen Jiang squatted down and touched the bloodstains on the leaves with his finger; they were still warm.

"They're injured, they can't go far." Chen Jiang made a tactical hand gesture, ordering his men to flank them from both sides.

Suddenly, a scream came from ahead.

Chen Jiang immediately signaled the troops to halt their advance and asked in a low voice over the walkie-talkie, "What's going on?"

"Battalion Commander, these idiots stepped on their own landmines." The scout's voice came, making Chen Jiang chuckle. What was all this about?

When Chen Jiang arrived, he saw a blond, blue-eyed mercenary clutching his bloodied right leg and howling in pain. The medics accompanying the army had already quickly given him a makeshift bandage.

“I hope you can tell me something I want to hear,” Chen Jiang asked in fluent English.

The mercenary gritted his teeth: "Dream on, I would never be a traitor."

Chen Jiang sneered and drew a military knife from his waist: "Do you know African army ants? They love fresh wounds." He then made a move to step forward.

"What do you want to do?" The mercenary's face turned pale.

"I'm not doing anything, I'm just letting you out some food. The army ants here are also called man-eating ants. They have an extraordinary sense of smell and love for blood. In just ten minutes, they can devour a grown man until only one person remains."

Chen Jiang gave the other party a close-up analogy, and how could the mercenary not understand his implication?
He was so frightened that he started trembling all over.

"Alright, I know you were very brave. Afterwards, your organization will probably award you a gold medal, and your family might also receive a substantial compensation payment."

"Nonsense, I don't have any family."

Upon hearing the reply, Chen Jiang was surprised, then feigned regret, "Oh dear, you've really lost out. You died for nothing. They'll be happy you went to meet God, then they'll swallow your money with tears in their eyes, and then go and call a few..."

"Enough, I'll tell you their location, I hope you'll let me go." In just a short while, the guy who was just so tough and unyielding became extremely eager to survive.

Chen Jiang knew these guys' mentality, of course. They had no faith and fought purely for money. What secrets could such people keep?

After listening to the other party's account, Chen Jiang immediately led his men to change direction and head towards the other party's stronghold.

"Battalion Commander, do you believe what he said?" Gan Xiaoning asked, puzzled.

After all, I didn't press them too much just now. What if they were lying?
"I believe it, because that's where I guessed it was!" Chen Jiang said confidently.

He knew the surroundings very well; the only place the enemy could hide was an abandoned mining area.

Gan Xiaoning didn't ask any further questions. His former comrade-in-arms was simply too amazing; he really couldn't explain his takeoff.

"What about that mercenary prisoner? Are we just going to release him like that?"

Chen Jiang shrugged. "Otherwise what? We're a peacekeeping force; we don't like fighting each other."

He walked forward a bit, then stopped, and said to Gan Xiaoning with a wicked grin, "I only promised to let him go. As for whether Kasongo will let him go, I don't know."

Gan Xiaoning was dumbfounded; it turned out that the battalion commander had also played a word game.

"Cunning!" he muttered to himself, then quickly followed.

Ten minutes later, Kasongo, covered in blood, caught up from behind.

"We'll be facing the enemy's main force soon, and there will be a fierce battle. Are you sure you want to come with us?" Chen Jiang asked, looking at the young man in front of him with bloodshot eyes.

“I must see these (promoted) individuals pay the price!” Kasongo clenched his fist.

Chen Jiang shook his head helplessly because he saw a primitive bow and arrow that Kasongo had somehow obtained, along with a blowgun at his waist. These things were coated with deadly poison and could be launched at short distances, making them impossible to defend against.

“I told you before, but you wouldn’t listen. We shouldn’t have messed with the Chinese peacekeeping forces. Now look what’s happened. We’ve lost so many men, and we’re almost crippled.” At that moment, in the mine ahead, a mercenary complained to his leader.

The leader had a face full of scars and a ferocious expression; he was clearly a ruthless character who had survived several life-or-death experiences in the flames of war.

He remained silent, quietly watching his subordinates' "performance".

"I think the most urgent thing right now is to make peace with the peacekeeping forces as soon as possible. I heard that they are a trustworthy force. As long as they agree, we can still go home. As for those missions, are they more important than our lives?" He got more and more excited as he spoke, and became a little carried away.

Several of his men nodded in unison, clearly terrified of Chen Jiang's troops.

"Snapped!"

Just then, the mercenary leader silently shot the guy who was talking so vehemently, the red and white splattering making those nearby shudder.

"Is there anyone else who thinks the same way as him?" He blew on the muzzle of his smoking Desert Eagle and asked coldly.

"Boss, we're going to fight the peacekeeping forces to the death!" One of his men immediately pledged his loyalty.

"Yes, let's fight to the death!"

"Fight to the death!"

Seeing his subordinates' insincere expressions of determination, he explained with great distress, "We are mercenaries, not protected by international law. If we surrender, we will surely die. And even if they let us go, will our bosses let us go?"
