Journey 1995:Non-Stop

Chapter 186 Rainfall

Chapter 186 Rainfall
In recent years, Yan Hui has followed Wang Hongjun and has gained a lot of experience.

Wang Hongjun enjoys extravagance and is always willing to spend money on large banquets; it's normal for him to spend two or three thousand yuan on a single meal.

In Yichun, over the past year, Yan Hui has attended at least ten high-class dinners with Wang Hongjun, and has seen delicacies from land and sea.

It's not that Wang Hongjun is particularly good to Yan Hui; in fact, Wang Hongjun really likes Yan Hui and enjoys using Yan Hui.

Yan Hui was his biggest client, and also easy to control. Unlike most clients who made their way in Northeast China, Yan Hui had no influence in Yichun and relied heavily on Wang Hongjun for supplies.

Therefore, the friendship between Yan Hui and Wang Hongjun was not deep; their relationship was mainly based on their shared interests.

Wang Hongjun is a person who cares a lot about his reputation, and Yan Hui is always willing to give him face. Of course, it comes down to what I just said.

It works well. Yan Hui has helped Wang Hongjun close several deals. He himself is a persuasive and professional client, so his help in negotiating with clients is incredibly effective.

Upon returning to Northeast China, Yan Hui did not tell anyone but instead "surprise" the processing plant and drying plant.

Surprisingly, everything went very smoothly. Even the fire extinguishers placed around the drying area were wiped clean, showing that Liu Zi was quite serious about his work.

At the drying plant, the production capacity severely limited Yan Hui's shipments. He came back this time to find a new drying plant to cooperate with.

Everything that had been arranged went unexpectedly smoothly. After returning to Tangwanghe, Yan Hui had a meal with Lao Guo and received a call from his cousin.

“We’ve arrived in Luoyang. The talks here are going quite smoothly. By the way, Xiaohui, do you have any plans to find a partner? What did your parents and grandfather say?” my cousin asked.

“I don’t have a brother yet, so I don’t think I’m in a hurry,” Yan Hui explained.

He wasn't in a rush to find a partner. Even though his second brother was already married, Yan Hui still felt...
Of course, if we have to be honest, Liu Yu still has too much influence on Yan Hui.

"Mr. Li has a niece who just graduated from high school. He showed me her picture, and she's quite pretty. If you're interested, I can help you set her up. If..." The cousin didn't continue.

"Brother, you don't need to help me find someone. I don't want to look for someone right now." Yan Hui still refused the offer.

"Alright, you're not a child anymore, you decide for yourself." My cousin didn't insist.

"Mmm, thank you, bro!"

"By the way, I saw that bracelet you were wearing the other day was really nice, was it Hainan Huanghuali?" My cousin then asked the second question.

“Yes, I helped a friend out before, and his father gave it to me,” Yan Hui said.

"Does his family deal in rosewood?"

"Correct."

"That's perfect. Give me a call later, and I'll ask him to buy some furniture."

"That's perfect. My friend is right here. Do you have some time? You two can chat for a bit."

"Row."

Yan Hui handed his phone to Lao Guo and gave him a brief explanation. Lao Guo then started chatting with his cousin. After three or four minutes, Lao Guo hung up: "Hey Lao Yan, you've got me a big order. Your cousin is an expert; he wants a set of mahogany furniture, worth at least seventy or eighty thousand."

"That's really good news. It seems like I've helped you out." Yan Hui hadn't expected to generate a business deal here.

"According to the rules, after this deal is closed, you'll get a referral fee. I'll pay you when I'm done with this." Old Guo calculated, "I'll give you 4000 yuan."

“This is my uncle’s son. He’s been good to me, so don’t pay me a referral fee. Give him a discount. Since he knows his stuff and came to me, how could I possibly charge him so much?” Yan Hui shook his head.

"So this is your uncle's family! Why didn't you say so earlier! I would have given you at least a discount of ten thousand!" Old Guo patted his chest.

"Anyway, you still get your share of the profits. I don't owe you any favors," Yan Hui quickly said.

"How could that be? You giving me the order is me owing you a favor," Lao Guo laughed, feeling that Yan Hui was being too cautious.

In the past few days, Yan Hui visited several drying plants, but only a few factories in the city had available time. However, these factories were scattered and far away, making it impossible to control costs, and Liu Zi couldn't keep an eye on everything. The good news was that a relatively nearby drying plant had no drying orders for the next two weeks, so Yan Hui quickly booked it for a month.

After things settled down in the Northeast, Yan Hui didn't have much to do. Liu Zi was already used to running around, and Yan Hui was very satisfied with that. He immediately gave Liu Zi a raise, adding a 200 yuan meal allowance and a 200 yuan motorcycle fuel subsidy each month.

After finishing his own work, Yan Hui was taken advantage of by Wang Hongjun for a few more days, accompanying him to meet several clients and closing some deals.

"Don't worry, we're best friends, so the price I give you will definitely be the lowest!" After using Yan Hui's services for a few days, Wang Hongjun felt a little embarrassed. "White pine, red pine, larch, I'll give you a ten-yuan discount per cubic meter next time!"

"Brother Jun, you're such a loyal friend! Doing business with you is so much fun!" Yan Hui immediately praised him.

Despite his gratitude, he still had to keep going. Liu Zi had already taken care of everything here, so Yan Hui didn't need to stay any longer. He sent out three or four more train cars of goods and set off back to Jianye once again.

Whenever he returned to Jianye, Wang Hongjun simply assumed he was busy.

Back in Jianye, Yan Hui completely relaxed. He didn't go anywhere; he just stayed in his rented room, reading novels and watching TV, and rested for two days.

Apart from a few phone calls, nothing has happened these past few days.

Recently, the temperature in Jianye has dropped and rainfall has increased. Yan Hui checked the weather forecast and it said that there would be rain in the next few days.

Heavy rain is not good for timber transportation, but the impact is not significant, as long as the railway is not affected.

Yan Hui hadn't paid much attention to the rain initially, but after June 25th, he heard more and more information about the "flood."

On the 25th, Yan Hui dared not rest any longer and went to his cousin to inquire about the rainfall.

"Jianye is alright now. I heard that the situation is more serious in Dongting Lake and Poyang Lake. Today they said that the entire Jiangsu province has reached the warning level. There's nothing serious yet, but if it goes down any further, who knows what will happen?" My cousin was also a little worried.

"Is it like this every year?" Yan Hui had never experienced anything like this before.

“Anyway, I’ve never seen anything like this in the years I’ve been here. I asked some people here, and they all say this time is different. Anyway, why don’t you take a break for a while?” My cousin pointed in the direction of the market. “I’ve heard that several companies have already stopped.”

"I need to go and ask around." When Yan Hui heard his cousin say this, he knew he couldn't wait any longer. Worried, he found a taxi and went straight to the meteorological bureau.
